Rachel: This is exactly right from Brentford - absolutely chuck the kitchen sink at City. No point trying to contain them!

    Man City 0-0 Brentford

Now City are starting to find their stride.

Kevin de Bruyne picks out Erling Haaland at the far post, the lanky Norwegian shows great athleticism by leaping into the air and pulling it back towards Ilkay Gundogan, but the German is lacking a couple of inches and can't quite reach the ball.

    Man City 0-0 Brentford

It's been a cracking start to this game.

David Raya comes steaming off his line at the other end, but his clearances falls straight to Ilkay Gundogan.

The German takes aim from near the halfway line, but horribly shanks his effort which is closer to the tunnel than the goal.

  4. CLOSE!published at 5 mins

    Man City 0-0 Brentford

Another HUGE chance for Brentford, which they fail to take again.

Ederson is shaky from Rico Henry's cross, flapping at it and the ball drops for Bryan Mbeumo in the box.

He pulls the ball back to the centre of the area for Ivan Toney, but the Englishman's first-time shot is batted out by Ederson, who recovered really well.

    Man City 0-0 Brentford

Brentford are getting chances in the early stages. Bryan Mbeumo swivels in the box and shoots, but the effort is blocked.

City haven't got going yet, the Bees have come swarming out of their hives.

  6. GREAT SAVE!published at 3 mins

    Man City 0-0 Brentford

BIG chance in the opening five minutes...and it comes Brentford's way!

Frank Onyeka is played through on goal and only has Ederson to beat, but the Brazil international is off his line rapidly to smother at the Bees player's feet.

GOT to be scoring those, won't get many openings here.

There is a massive argument that Ivan Toney should go. My opinion was that he should be on the plane. The wider discussion is should he be there as well as Callum Wilson?

You've got Harry Kane, Callum Wilson, Marcus Rashford but I think he should be there. He'll be disappointed because he has done really well and if you've got Harry Kane, you could have two other number nines which gives you some real firepower to turn to.

I would imagine Gareth Southgate's toughest conversation would have been with Ivan Toney, in my opinion, because he's done so well and there's no reason not take him, there's no negatives round not taking him at all.

However, Callum Wilson has come into form and is banging in goals and is a bit quicker than Ivan Toney. Southgate probably fancies Callum Wilson a bit more than Ivan Toney, that's basically it. There's no better, no worse. It's just what the manager fancies at that time.

I feel for Ivan Toney but I feel that Callum Wilson is a very, very good substitute for him.

Brentford manager Thomas Frank knows how difficult it will be against Manchester City but says he has learned lessons from playing against the champions last season.

"We managed to keep them relatively low on shots in both games," he said. "In that aspect you can take confidence but you are never satisfied with losing 1-0 or 2-0. You want to go for the win and that will be the same on Saturday."

City have been irrepressible at home this season, winning all seven games and scoring 29 goals to just seven conceded.

Their dominance has been in no small part thanks to Erling Haaland, who will pose a significant threat to the Bees.

"He is a goal machine who will break records," said Frank. "They provide him with the best possibilities to score so it is about trying to stop the source.

"We have never gone into a game without belief of being capable of winning. It's going to be unbelievably difficult against potentially the best team in the world."

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says his contract situation is "perfect" and "under control".

Guardiola's deal expires next summer and the 51-year-old has repeatedly dismissed media questions about whether it is going to be extended.

"The decision will be made together with the club the moment it has to be made," said Guardiola.

"I said many times, I had the feeling that both the club and myself are happy to be together."
