And that is of the biggest signings of the day obviously.

We'll be here until it's announced or we fall asleep - whatever happens first.

  3. Premier League's big spending does mean £150m for EFLpublished at 23:52 British Summer Time 1 September 2022

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport reporter

A lot has been made about the record spending of Premier League clubs during the current window.

To give a bit of context, the clubs have just started a new TV cycle, so their income has risen in line with the amount they are spending.

And, whilst it may not be enough for some, EFL clubs have received around £150m in transfer fees this summer - with Josh Bowler's impending move to Nottingham Forest from Blackpool adding to the sum.

It is estimated 13 of the biggest spending clubs are from the Premier League,

    Fulham

Fulham have signed Wales winger Daniel James on a season-long loan from fellow Premier League side Leeds.

  6. Silva says he's happy to stay at Man Citypublished at 23:45 British Summer Time 1 September 2022

Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva says he "wants to be at" the club and is "happy" to stay despite rumours he would leave this summer.

The Portugal international had been linked with moves to Paris St-Germain and Barcelona.

Silva, 28, said a club did put in a late offer, but it was the only one City received for him.

"I'm staying. I spoke with the club and I'm staying," he said. "I'm happy here at Man City and I will do my best.

"It's one of the top three clubs in the world right now probably so I couldn't be better here. It's a club I want to be at and I'm happy.

"There was one offer from one team, no more than that, so it was quite easy for me and for the club because the only offer that came came quite late, so for the club to find a replacement it wouldn't be easy."

  8. Everton business finishedpublished at 23:40 British Summer Time 1 September 2022

    Alistair Magowan
    BBC Sport

Everton midfielder Lewis Warrington has joined Fleetwood Town on loan and that is the Toffees done for this window.

Eight signings, including James Garner and Idrissa Gueye today. Neal Maupay is the key one for them in attack, but does it leave them short up front?

The defence and midfield looks a lot more solid after the likes of James Tarkowski, Conor Coady and Amadou Onana but Everton are still reliant on Dominic Calvert-Lewin's return from injury and manager Frank Lampard has already said he's unlikely to be fit for the Merseyside derby on Saturday.

  9. Forest still wait on double signingpublished at 23:38 British Summer Time 1 September 2022

    Nottingham Forest

We are still expecting two more Nottingham Forest signings tonight. Of course we are.

They are planning to sign Blackpool winger Josh Bowler - and loan him to Olympiakos - and Rennes defender Loic Bade.

But not Michy Batshuayi - that move is over.

  12. Batshuayi to Forest falls through?published at 23:30 British Summer Time 1 September 2022

    Oh oh.

It sounds like Michy Batshuayi's move from Chelsea to Nottingham Forest could be off.

Just the one million signings for Forest this summer then.

Why do people always say 'football club' to almost emphasise their point?

Just club is fine. And if you're talking about a team name you don't need to say football club afterwards.

  15. 'Everton midfielder looks a lot stronger'published at 23:26 British Summer Time 1 September 2022

    Ian Kennedy
    Reporter, BBC Radio Merseyside Sport

James Garner was a big part of Nottingham Forest’s drive towards promotion last season – and even though he’s had little in the way of Premier League experience, his time at the City Ground will have been invaluable – that’s in addition to his football education at Manchester United.

As a Wirral lad, he’ll feel very much at home on Merseyside, and it’ll be fascinating to see how quickly Frank Lampard brings him into the side.

He’s still only 21 so there’s plenty of time, and to be fair to Everton, the midfield will look a lot stronger now that Garner has joined fellow new recruits Amadou Onana and Idrissa Gueye. He was well thought of at Forest, so this could prove a really good signing long term for Everton.

  16. 'Like the Premier League is back!'published at 23:21 British Summer Time 1 September 2022

    Michael Brown
Former Manchester City midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

It has been a really good transfer deadline day. All the clubs that were involved, all the excitement, it's almost as if the Premier League is back and we are going to start spending again. Some wonderful signings.

  17. 'PL has 13 of Europe's 25 biggest spending clubs'published at 23:19 British Summer Time 1 September 2022

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport reporter

I was speaking to someone from the Premier League earlier who told me that 13 of the 25 top spending clubs in Europe [during the transfer window] are Premier League clubs. That shows the spending power of the clubs in this league and maybe some of the top clubs across Europe don't like it.

  18. Barcelona sign Bellerinpublished at 23:16 British Summer Time 1 September 2022

Barcelona have signed Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin on a free transfer.

Right-back Bellerin left Barca's academy in 2011 for Arsenal and returns 11 years later.

The 27-year-old spent last season on loan at Real Betis.

  19. 'Aubameyang not the most natural signing for Chelsea'published at 23:13 British Summer Time 1 September 2022

    Raphael Honigstein
German football journalist on BBC Radio 5 Live

Aubameyang and Thomas Tuchel were a match made in heaven when Tuchel came into Dortmund in 2015.

He moved Aubameyang into a central position, he had been playing as a winger before and he absolutely exploded and had a great few seasons. Of course on the strength of that, he moved to Arsenal for a lot of money.

He is now 33 years old so perhaps not the most natural of signings to replace Lukaku and to really believe this is going to be a long term solution. It does feel a bit panicky at this point.

  20. 'Anthony & Garner deals caught my eye'published at 23:09 British Summer Time 1 September 2022

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport reporter

A couple of deals have caught my eye. One of them happened early - Anthony going to Manchester United for £82m. A huge sum of money, more than Manchester United wanted to pay but someone that Erik Ten Hag really wanted and almost pinned his mast to, in a way, having missed out on Frenkie de Jong, who was his initial first choice.

The other one is James Garner. Manchester United thought so highly of him and he has gone to Everton. It will be interesting to see how he develops.
