  2. 'Where's the recruitment at Leicester?'published at 21:41 British Summer Time 1 September 2022

    Nigel Reo-Coker
Former West Ham midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

You'd be worried if you were a Leicester player right now. If you look at the players who are being linked with a move away from Leicester, it's pretty much their top 1% players.

For the rest of the players, you would really be worried about the direction the club is heading in and what the gameplan is.

If you're willing to sell most of your top players, where's the recruitment? Where are the players coming in?

  3. 'Leicester players must apply themselves'published at 21:38 British Summer Time 1 September 2022

You can hear Brendan Rodgers' frustration with not having a settled team. It's probably aimed at those players who felt they'd get a move and have not been showing the application he'd want.

Their heads have not necessarily been on the games. Fofana was one of them and Rodgers has no longer got him to work with.

Once the transfer window closes, those players who may have thought they were getting away know this is where they're playing their football.

If they want to be out there on the grass playing, they need to apply themselves. They need to play well.

That's the environment Rodgers is looking for. Despite all the money that was spent on Leicester's training ground, he's having trouble getting that application.

If Aubameyang comes and is trying to prove people wrong, and he's trying to prove to Arsenal fans and Mikel Arteta that they weren't right to let him go - if he comes with that attitude, desire and purpose, to prove to the league that he is the top striker we all felt he was, he's OK.

Is that the kind of attitude he can show? We're talking about players who are prepared to force the issue to get moves and transfers - is that the right kind of character?

  11. Chelsea out of time for Depay?published at 21:17 British Summer Time 1 September 2022

Miguel Delaney, of the Independent, says Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang isn't the only Barcelona forward that Chelsea have tried to sign today.

But he thinks they won't have time to sign Memphis Depay too before the deadline which is in less than two hours.

Shame they weren't on a buy one, get one free deal.

  19. 'Aubameyang is coming for the ride'published at 20:52 British Summer Time 1 September 2022

    Nigel Reo-Coker
Former West Ham midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

When you look at Aubameyang's performances at Arsenal and that they got rid of him, and how they've done since then and are performing as a team, and then Barcelona are willing to get rid of him - you have to question his hunger and appetite.

Chelsea have lost that bit of elegance and class they had about themselves when they were getting players. Now there are so many names and players being linked with Chelsea.

You just wonder where it's coming from and how they've gone from being so quiet about their business and very direct, very precise in their recruiting, to it now being a bit of a soap opera.

Yes, they need a number nine - but Aubameyang is coming for the ride. We saw what happened with Arsenal when he got comfortable there.
