    Thanks Gary and Sham.

Just three hours left for Oxford to sign some full-backs. That's the story of the night isn't it?

  2. Postpublished at 19:58 British Summer Time 1 September 2022

Right, that's our stint done. Time to hand over to Emlyn Begley to guide you through the big final few hours of the window.

  3. What else to look out for?published at 19:54 British Summer Time 1 September 2022

Still lots to keep an eye on:

Chelsea have agreed to sign former Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Aston Villa have agreed a £15m deal for Wolves and Belgium midfielder Leander Dendoncker.

Liverpool are trying to sign Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo on loan.

Aston Villa are close to signing Southampton centre-half Jan Bednarek.

A deal for Manchester United's James Garner is moving forward to a successful conclusion at Everton.

Fulham are among the clubs chasing Leeds winger Daniel James.

  4. Villa reject Luiz offerspublished at 19:52 British Summer Time 1 September 2022

    Phil McNulty
    BBC Sport chief football writer

Aston Villa have rejected two offers from Arsenal for Douglas Luiz as they remain adamant the Brazilian midfield man is not for sale.

The 24-year-old scored in Villa's 2-1 defeat at Arsenal on Wednesday and the Gunners were hopeful of doing a deal before the transfer deadline but saw a second bid of £23m turned down.

Villa have been insistent that they would part with Luiz and it now remains to be seen whether Arsenal return for a third time in an attempt to change their hardline stance before the window closes.

  5. 'Leicester have drifted'published at 19:50 British Summer Time 1 September 2022

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Tielemans and Fofana probably came to Leicester thinking that the squad was developing and would compete every year.

They've drifted a touch further away every season. That will affect the squad - they've seen the decline that they're in and no reinforcements coming in.

Mick: Nearly signings... Ian Storey Moore to Derby County - he was paraded around the Baseball Ground by Clough and Taylor as our new signing, only to be snatched away by Man United. Nowt changes.

Anon: Ruud Van Nistelrooy almost joining the Hammers when the David's took over was insane! Rivaldo to Bolton was crazy too!

Paul: Forest tried to sign George Boyd. Forest pulled out at 10.50pm when he failed his eye test.

Anon: As a Notts County fan our big miss was not signing Kevin Keegan from Scunthorpe when he decided to go to Liverpool instead.

  7. Soler signs for PSGpublished at 19:48 British Summer Time 1 September 2022

  8. 'We have been screwed up'published at 19:45 British Summer Time 1 September 2022

Quite like a club owner updating fans on social media.

Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani has tweeted this after the club appeared to fail to secure a deal for Bamba Diang from Marseille.

Anon: Don't know how much of it was true or how much was media, but Birmingham were once linked to Maradona, made the back page anyway.

Anon: How about a 17 year old Diego Maradona to Sheffield United?

  10. Postpublished at 19:42 British Summer Time 1 September 2022

It feels like there's been a distinct lack of players holding up shirts with their name on today.

Or even worse, wearing the club shirt whilst also holding up a club shirt.

  11. 'Arteta left a huge hole in our squad'published at 19:41 British Summer Time 1 September 2022

When Mikel Arteta made his move to Arsenal, it was common knowledge that it was about to happen - certainly within Everton.

We ended up selling him on transfer deadline day for £10m, which undervalued the player he was. He didn't have much time left on his contract but it was too late to spend the money we got in.

The transfer window was over and he'd left a huge hole in our squad. We struggled to recover from it.

  12. 'Lescott took criticism before transfer'published at 19:38 British Summer Time 1 September 2022

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Any situation can have an effect on the squad. I remember at Everton, we started off the season and Joleon Lescott was heavily linked to Manchester City.

We ended up losing the game 6-1 and because of that, he took all the criticism for the game, as if it was solely his fault that we'd lost the game.

That was unfair on him. Although he was a professional who was about to make that move, he was prepared to put himself out there. It can go against players who are prepared to play.

  13. Kelly joins the Baggiespublished at 19:36 British Summer Time 1 September 2022

    West Bromwich Albion

West Brom have completed the signing of former Crystal Palace defender Martin Kelly.

The 32-year-old centre back, who has made 154 Premier League appearances, has signed a two-year contract at The Hawthorns.

  14. Brereton Diaz set to stay at Blackburnpublished at 19:33 British Summer Time 1 September 2022

    Everton

The Daily Telegraph's Mike McGrath reports, external that Blackburn Rovers' Ben Brereton Diaz is set to remain at the club after much speculation surrounding his future.

He says that Fulham and Everton both placed £12m bids but Blackburn's asking price remains £20m.

  15. 'Clubs have to take responsibility'published at 19:29 British Summer Time 1 September 2022

    Nigel Reo-Coker
Former West Ham midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Sometimes in these situations, players don't really have the power that they feel they do. But on some occasions the players do have a bit of power and sometimes clubs have to take responsibility in how they handle those situations.

If there is a promise made to a player, honour that promise. Sometimes it can just get lost with all the people involved, whether it's the chief executive or the manager that wants it done.

Sometimes it's better to be honest with players. That way, you have less of a problem and less of a soap opera.

  16. What big deals could still happen?published at 19:26 British Summer Time 1 September 2022

    Ian Dennis
BBC Radio 5 Live senior football reporter

The two big deals that we're waiting on at the moment are the return of Aubameyang to the Premier League - I'm told that this will go through tonight, and Guillem Balague earlier reported that it would be a £12m deal with Marcos Alonso going in the other direction - and Liverpool looking to bring in Arthur Melo on loan from Juventus, the only incoming move at Anfield between now and 11 o'clock.

There are two others that we're keeping an eye on: Aston Villa are looking to bring in Leander Dendoncker, who's surplus to requirements at Wolves, and Jan Bednerak at Southampton, who at one stage looked like he was going to go to West Ham but is likely to go on loan to Aston Villa.

I'd imagine that Southampton have a replacement lined up, given that Jack Stephens has joined Bournemouth on loan.

  18. 'It annoys me to see players demanding transfers'published at 19:20 British Summer Time 1 September 2022

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Transfers will happen in the game - sometimes the clubs want it to happen, sometimes the players want it to happen, but it does annoy me somewhat when I see players lower the reputation of all players by holding out for a transfer.

It's one thing asking for a transfer and another demanding one. To actually go on strike, not play and down your tools, so to speak, shouldn't be allowed.

  19. Another one for Forest?published at 19:18 British Summer Time 1 September 2022

    Nottingham Forest

Well, Nottingham Forest might not be done quite yet.

Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano says, external that Forest are set to sign Michy Batshuayi from Chelsea with the deal "almost done".

  20. James move happening?published at 19:17 British Summer Time 1 September 2022
