Arsenal are knocking on the door. This is a lovely move, Gabriel plays it forward, it's a clever flick from the side of the boot from Granit Xhaka but it is just inches ahead of Gabriel Jesus and he can't take it in his stride. He'd have been through on goal if he had collected it.

Takehiro Tomiyasu's cross from right is just too high for Granit Xhaka but Arsenal recycle the ball and Fabio Vieira plays it through to Gabriel Jesus but he can't get much power on his effort and it is comfortably dealt with by away keeper Walter Benitez.

A first glimpse of goal for PSV. Xavi Simons collects the ball from deep but is too quick for Granit Xhaka and runs with the ball to 20 yards out from Matt Turner's goal.

But the finish from Simons is a poor one, not testing the boyhood Arsenal fan between the sticks.

A brief opening for the visitors as Ibrahim Sangare tries to play a through ball to Guus Til, but Sangare puts too much pace on the pass, that forces Til wide and Arsenal can get back and clear their lines.

Fabio Vieira takes a corner for Arsenal from the left, but can't beat the man at the near post. Groans from the fans.

PSV Eindhoven can't keep allowing Arsenal to strike from the edge of the box. This time it's a chance for Gabriel Jesus but he pulls it just wide.

Mikel Arteta will be pretty pleased with the opening 20 minutes he has seen from his side. They've clearly been the better team.

Better from PSV Eindhoven as dangerman Cody Gakpo, tight on the left flank, plays a lovely ball down the line with the outside of the boot but Joey Veerman's cross doesn't make it past the near post and it is cleared.

Arsenal well on top. Some optimistic calls from the fans for a penalty when Gabriel Jesus goes to ground in the box, but the decision goes against him as he had accidentally kicked Joey Veerman in the head.

It's a big crowd at the Emirates and a great atmosphere, considering we're getting going at 6pm.
