  1. Switch of wingspublished at 49 mins

    Watford 2-1 Norwich

We often see wingers switch wings during the game, less so full-backs.

But that is exactly what Norwich have done with Sam Byram going from left to right and Max Aarons doing the opposite.

With Aarons on a booking and under the cosh from Ismaila Sarr, perhaps Dean Smith is keeping him out of the firing line.

A double change for Norwich at the break.

On come Isaac Hayden and Gabriel Sara. Louis Gibbs and Marcelino Nunez have been hooked.

Let's see what impact they can make.

    HT: Watford 2-1 Norwich

A fascinating second half in prospect.

Can Watford show a bit of steel that has too often been lacking this season and see this one out?

Can Norwich mount a comeback and somehow find the two goals they need to win this game and go top of the Championship?

Watford celebrate Louza's goalImage source, Rex Features

A terrific half of Championship football.

Imran Louza, after missing a penalty, and Keinan Davis had put Watford in control but Josh Sargent has made things very interesting as we head for the break.

Who knows what may happen in the second half?

  5. goal

GOAL Watford 2-1 Norwichpublished at 20:33 British Summer Time 15 October 2022

    Josh Sargent (45 mins)

    Game on!

First meaningful piece of play from the visitors and it produces a goal.

Kieran Dowell carries the ball through midfield and sends it left to Josh Sargent. He makes a yard for himself from 20 yards and drills it past Daniel Bachmann at the goalkeeper's near post.

An eighth Championship goal of the season for the USA forward.

  6. Postpublished at 44 mins

    Watford 2-0 Norwich

The resulting free-kick causes chaos in the Norwich block.

They can't clear their lines and it ends with Keinan Davis shooting straight at Angus Gunn. It could have been 3-0.

  7. YELLOW CARDpublished at 43 mins

    Watford 2-0 Norwich

No surprise that it's Ismaila Sarr who causes the first booking.

He gets in behind Max Aarons and the Norwich right-back drags him down. An easy one for the referee.

  8. Postpublished at 40 mins

    Watford 2-0 Norwich

This is a Watford side who have won only one of their last six games but they are playing with a lot of confidence following those two goals.

Another Norwich corner and at least they get this past the front post, but Grant Hanley's header is off target.

  9. Postpublished at 37 mins

    Watford 2-0 Norwich

The team in 17th comfortably beating a side who could go top of the table.

It could only be the Championship.

  10. goal

GOAL Watford 2-0 Norwichpublished at 20:19 British Summer Time 15 October 2022

    Keinan Davis (31 mins)

Ismaila Sarr torments Norwich again and it leads to the second goal.

He beats two men and gets into the box and his cross arrives at the feet of Yaser Asprilla. His shot is off target but straight to the feet of Keinan Davis.

There is no offside and Davis has all the time he needs to slot it home from six yards.

A third goal of the season for the man on loan from Aston Villa.

  11. Postpublished at 31 mins

    Watford 1-0 Norwich

Norwich have had a couple of corners, sending the big men up, but they have not got past the first man on either occasion.

    Such a waste!

  12. Sarr carrying the threatpublished at 30 mins

    Watford 1-0 Norwich

All of Watford's attacks are coming down the left through Ismaila Sarr. The Senegal forward is a handful at Premier League level, let alone in the Championship.

With Joao Pedro on the bench and ready to return, Slaven Bilic must know he has two players who are the envy of the rest of the division.

  13. Postpublished at 22 mins

    Watford 1-0 Norwich

A first real sighter of goal for Norwich as Kieran Dowell stings the palms of Daniel Bachmann from 25 yards.

The ball is then worked to Max Aarons and the right-back drives one across the face of goal.

The Canaries have woken up a little bit.

    Imran Louza (18 mins)

What a response from Imran Louza!

Moments after the penalty miss, the Watford midfielder redeems himself to give his side a deserved lead.

The Morocco international ghosts into the area and meets Ismaila Sarr's cross with a volley into the ground that finds the far corner.

Given how he is totally unmarked, there will be a few inquests in the Norwich defence.

  15. MISSED PENALTYpublished at 13 mins

    Angus GunnImage source, Rex Features

    Brilliant save from Angus Gunn!

The Norwich goalkeeper justifies Dean Smith's call as he guesses right and pushes away Imran Louza's spot-kick.

Louza's left-footed effort is not right in the corner, Gunn reads it well and the Norwich fans behind him are going wild.

Tim Krul is known as a penalty specialist, so that is a big feather in Gunn's cap with the Dutchman on the bench.

  16. PENALTYpublished at 12 mins

    Watford 0-0 Norwich

    Quite simple. That is.

Liam Gibbs gets caught the wrong side of Ismaila Sarr as the Watford man gets into the box.

    There is contact. Penalty.

  17. Postpublished at 10 mins

    Watford 0-0 Norwich

There is an appeal for a penalty as Josh Sargent goes to the ground under pressure from Dan Gosling.

It looks soft at first view, but the replay shows Gosling may have pushed the American. Not sure it was enough to really merit a spot-kick, though. But what is these days?

  18. CLOSE!published at 19:55 British Summer Time 15 October 2022

    Watford 0-0 Norwich

The first incident of real note as the recalled Keinan Davis makes space inside the box as he cuts onto his left and forces a good save from Angus Gunn at his near post. The goalkeeper will be pleased to get an early stop under his belt.

From the resulting corner, the ball comes back to Ismaila Sarr, 25 yards out. His shot is decent and on target, but comfortable for Gunn.

  19. Excellent Norwich supportpublished at 19:52 British Summer Time 15 October 2022

    Watford 0-0 Norwich

There are plenty of empty seats dotted around the home stands at Vicarage Road. Not a surprise, really, given the kick-off time, live TV coverage and the Hornets' poor form.

However, there is barely a single seat free in the away end. Excellent support from the Canaries fans.

For anyone who has ever been to Norwich, it's a complicated journey from there to virtually anywhere else!

  20. Kick-offpublished at 19:47 British Summer Time 15 October 2022

    Watford 0-0 Norwich

The teams have done a minute's applause for the late Watford captain Keith Eddy, who died on Monday, they have taken the knee and we are now ready to go.

Let's hope for a great game under the Saturday night lights!
