  3. Rice wants to play as often as possiblepublished at 14:56 British Summer Time 6 October 2022

Anderlecht v West Ham (17:45 BST)

    West Ham United

Captain Declan Rice says he wants to "play as many games as he can" for West Ham despite the packed fixture list before the World Cup.

The Hammers face 12 matches in 37 days prior to the tournament in Qatar, starting with Thursday's Europa Conference League tie with Anderlecht.

But Three Lions midfielder Rice, 23, has no concerns about burnout.

"There's a World Cup coming up, but the focus is West Ham because we need to push up the table," he said.

"Sometimes it's a luck thing whether you get injured, but I try to keep myself as fit and healthy as possible away from the pitch.

"I want to play as many games as I can. I like to keep playing, to keep the momentum building. That's where the confidence lies and last season that was key for me."

Anderlecht v West Ham (17:45 BST)

    West Ham United

West Ham top Group B in the Europa Conference League with two wins, and could qualify for the knockout stage if they twice beat Anderlecht in their double-header, with the Belgian club travelling to London for the reverse fixture next week.

David Moyes' side will be without summer signing Maxwel Cornet after the winger suffered a calf strain in Sunday's 2-0 win over Wolves.

Instead, 16-year-old midfielder Oliver Scarles has been included in the squad.

Arsenal, who are currently top of the Premier League table, are preparing to face Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League group stages on Thursday.

They beat Zurich 2-1 in their opening group game in Europe last month which provided forward Eddie Nketiah with his first start of the season.

And the 23-year-old is keen for the Gunners continue in the same vein plus of course get himself more game time.

"It's a very important competition for all of us, we want to win, we want to qualify first because we know important it is," said Nketiah.

"For myself, the more games the more opportunity to play so I'm looking forward to the games in Europe but also domestically as well."

Footballers often say they are dedicated to their club, but Sierra Leone international Mohamed Burya Turay proved it by missing his own wedding to join Malmo for pre-season training.

The 27-year-old was due to get married the day before Malmo planned to unveil him as a new signing on 22 July.

So he posed for pictures in his wedding gear in Freetown with his bride-to-be before heading off for Sweden, leaving his brother to represent him at his wedding ceremony - a feature which is not uncommon in Islamic marriages.

Turay played for Malmo in a 2-0 defeat to Sporting Braga. Malmo host Union Berlin in the Europa League on Thursday, kick-off 17:45 BST.

  9. 'We feel a change of mood now'published at 14:44 British Summer Time 6 October 2022

Bournemouth v Leicester (Sat, 15:00 BST)

    Leicester City

More from manager Brendan Rodgers on improving Leicester City's away form: "We're hoping the win will help galvanise that.

"There's no doubt our form in general this season hasn't been good enough. But we feel a change of mood now. We know it'll be a hard game against Bournemouth.

"It's an opportunity where quite quickly you can find yourself in the middle of the table. We put a big focus into Monday's game, it's the same now ahead of Bournemouth.

"If you can keep a clean sheet then that's great. That's always the mantra going into any game - you want to be strong defensively. Our objective is to win the game. If a clean sheet comes with that then it's important."

  10. O'Neil in 'no rush' to leave Bournemouth rolepublished at 14:42 British Summer Time 6 October 2022

    Bournemouth v Leicester (Sat,15:00 BST)

    Bournemouth

Bournemouth interim head coach Gary O'Neil: "I am really really happy with the situation as it is and happy to take it game by game. I love it here and am in no rush to go away.

"Having watched all their [Leicester's] games they were very unfortunate to be on one point before the Nottingham Forest game. They were dominant against Manchester United and lost late to Tottenham. They are a very good team. That result was coming for them.

"They are a very good side and I don't expect them to be anywhere near the bottom of the league come the end of the season."

  13. 'The connection is back between players and supporters'published at 14:36 British Summer Time 6 October 2022

Bournemouth v Leicester (Sat, 15:00 BST)

    Leicester City

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers on Monday's win against Nottingham Forest, which lifted them off the bottom of the Premier League table: "I said it could be a season-changing game - that would change the mood for the team and supporters.

"I have definitely sensed that. What we saw was the connection between the players and supporters was back again.

"It is such a big game in the region."

On his team-talk before the Nottingham Forest win: "You are always looking to find ways to stimulate the players. These guys are competitive players Everyone was hurt after that previous game [a 4-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup last season].

"It is never about revenge or anything like that, but you know in football you always get another opportunity.

"We reminded the players a little of that feeling [they had after the Nottingham Forest defeat] and about the desire that is needed to win at football.

"We have fantastically gifted players but you can't win in football without the having the desire and mentality to try to work hard and defend well.

"There were questions raised about us back then and this was a great opportunity to respond."

On team news: "Onyinye Ndidi came back from international duty with a slight hamstring strain. He was feeling it in the last game, which is why we took him off as a precaution. He is probably going to miss a few weeks. Apart from him and [Nampalys] Mendy everyone else is fine."

  14. 'Vardy is very important for us - on and off the pitch'published at 14:29 British Summer Time 6 October 2022

    Leicester City

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers on the importance of Jamie Vardy: "He is working very hard for the team.

"Okay the goals have not come, but his role for us is still very important on and off the pitch.

"His authority, especially at home, where he has got a great connection to the crowd, is very important.

"Whether he scores or not, he will remain a very important player for me as long as he remains at the club because of his experience and mentality."

  16. 'I wouldn’t want to be in' Cooper's position with 23 new playerspublished at 14:24 British Summer Time 6 October 2022

Nottingham Forest v Aston Villa (Mon, 20:00 BST)

    Aston Villa

To finish up Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard is asked about his Nottingham Forest counterpart Steve Cooper: "I wouldn’t want to be in that position. To bring in 23 players in one window is unique. I have never seen it or heard of it before

"I know at Villa they had a window where they had a lot of loan players and they had to replace them. I understand that and I’m sure Steve was in that position because he had a lot of loan players.

“They recruited really well and signed a lot of good players. From where I am, to think about how you’d deal with that and manage that, it would be extremely tough and challenging.

“I think he (Steve Cooper) deserves the time for that to settle, for them to get used to the club and how Steve plays. It takes time when you make one or two changes never mind 23."

  17. 'Recent performances have given us a platform'published at 14:21 British Summer Time 6 October 2022

Nottingham Forest v Aston Villa (Mon, 20:00 BST)

    Aston Villa

More from Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard: "We’re a goal away from being around the mid-table places. If we score against Leeds, we’re in a much healthier position.

“We’ve got another opportunity against Forest to go away and try and build on our recent performances and try to get an away win. If we do, we’ll creep closer to where we want to be.

“Recent performances have given us a platform but there’s no one on the inside at Villa who thinks we’re there. We know we’ve got to keep pushing in every way, shape and form. Once we get players where we need them, we’re a good team, and we’ll be where we want to be.”
