Hoping to see a bit more of Claire Emslie and Nicola Docherty in this second half.
The Irish really nullified them down the left before the interval, sucking the creative juices of Emslie out of the Scottish attack.
A great chance for Scotland just after the restart.
Erin Cuthbert floats a delicious ball to the back post where Fiona Brown has drifted away from her marker. The forward is stretching for it, and her finish skooshes off target.
Still, much better from Scotland already.

On that note, step we gaily.
The Irish are back out on the Hampden pitch in a huddle. For them, the task is simple, just win in either normal or extra time and a first ever World Cup is theirs.
For Scotland, only a three-goal margin of victory in either 90 or 120 minutes would do that. Win by less or on penalties, and a date in the inter-continental play-offs beckons.
Who is going to do it!?

Megan Campbell's mighty throw-ins are certainly causing a stir on Twitter...

Quote MessageI thought it was in two or three times. It's a scramble and Scotland will be happy to hear the half-time whistle. That could have gone anywhere.

Quote MessageWow, that is absolutely incredible! They almost gifted Ireland an opportunity, but somehow Scotland cleared their lines.
* Goes for a lie down *
A frustrating half for Scotland.
Their only real chance was Caroline Weir's penalty - a big one. The Real Madrid midfielder's tame effort was saved by goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan.
Since then, it's Ireland who have come closest to scoring. Megan Campbell's throw went into the back of the net, but was chalked off because no Irish players got a touch.
And then somehow Aine O'Gorman missed a header from five yards. A minute before the break Sophie Howard cleared two close-range efforts off the line in between a save from Lee Gibson in a frantic stramash.
All to play for.

HOW DID THAT STAY OUT!?
Scotland scramble the ball off the line twice and have a point-blank save from Lee Gibson in a manic 10-second spell. There's orange and blue jerseys everywhere. Lilly Agg, Denise O'Sullivan and Niamh Fairley are the Irish players denied.
Oh my days.

Megan Campbell lashes a shot well over from inside the Scotland box. These long throws are causing chaos for the hosts here.
The Irish finishing strongly in this half.

First time anyone in the press box at Hampden has breathed tonight, the permutations malarkey is finally over with... for now.
Who'd wanna do it the easy way anyway? Not me, and not Scotland, ever.
At last, clarity. These results mean a win for the Republic of Ireland would take them to the World Cup finals, while Scotland would need to win tonight by three clear goals to do likewise. A win in normal or extra time by less than that and it's inter-continental play-off time...
We are a long way from that right now.

Lisa Evans received a rollicking of Lee Gibson for allowing that cross into the box.
A glorious opportunity presented to Ireland.
Scotland 0-0 Republic of Ireland
Oh my, what a miss that is.
The Republic of Ireland can't believe they've not scored. A whipped cross from the left finds the head of a stooping Aine O'Gorman. She connects, but somehow diverts her header over Lee Gibson's bar from six-yards.
Hampden holds its breath.
