If only they counted. It was unfortunate that Lily Agg just couldn't get a touch.

Quote MessageIt's a real mix-up in communication between Sophie Howard and Lee Gibson. Thankfully, nobody has touched it on its way in.

One large, sharp intake of breath was taken by the near entirety of Hampden.
I'm still not entirely sure what happened there, but both sides have had huge let-offs.

Wow, haven't ever seen that before.
Megan Campbell hurls a long throw into the Scotland box. It misses everyone, including a couple of Irish bodies who almost look to get out the way, before going straight into the net without a touch.
Either it's ropey defending from the Scots, or an absolute masterstroke. You decide.

Quote MessageWeir is going to need to put it out of her mind. The moment's gone. Brosnan came out on top with that one.
Meanwhile, in Portugal...
It's now 3-1 to the hosts against Iceland. If it stays the same, second-top seed Iceland will be out, with Portugal moving on to 19 points and a goal difference of 11.
Prior to kick off tonight, the Republic were currently on 17 points and a 22 goal difference, while the Scots sat at 16 points and nine goals.
Remember, the top two seeds go through to the World Cup directly, with the third-best play-off winner heading for another play-off. A Portugal win tonight would leave the door potentially open for Hampden's winners...
Scotland 0-0 Republic of Ireland
Another shout for a penalty for the Scots.
Martha Thomas races on to a long through ball and looks to be clattered by a combination of goalkeeper and defender. Even with the safety net of VAR, nothing is doing.

Niamh tried to put her body on the line but her hand was in an unnatural position. It was a brilliant save by Courtney Brosnan, just brilliant. Hopefully that will get us into the game and let us settle.

Delightful link-up between Fiona Brown and Caroline Weir to conjure up the opportunity for the penalty.
It's a strong save from Courtney Brosnan but it's the perfect height for a keeper to parry it away.
Scotland 0-0 Republic of Ireland
What a moment this could be!
Scotland get a penalty awarded after a goal-bound shot gets handballed on to the bar. Real Madrid's Caroline Weir steps up and crashes a shot to her right, but Courtney Brosnan throws herself to her left to parry the ball behind.
It's a solid save, but you expect someone of Weir's class to hit a better effort than that. What a let off for Ireland.
Scotland 0-0 Republic of Ireland
Erin Cuthbert gets a stern talking to from the referee for a cynical block on Katie McCabe, but no card is forthcoming.

Quote MessageThey are not letting Scotland settle and it's a good start. They are putting pressure on them high up the pitch and not letting them play out.
Back at Hampden, and the visitors have had the best of the early couple of minutes. The Scots playing themselves into trouble at the back here...
It's a goal that will peak the interest at Hampden. Portugal have taken an extra-time lead over Iceland to make it 2-1.
If that stays the final result, the winner at Hampden - if in normal or extra time - will be going to New Zealand and Australia.
And Scotland's Martha Thomas get us started at Hampden.
Hold on to your hat...
Scotland v Republic of Ireland (20:00)
Scotland manager Pedro Martinez Losa tells BBC Alba: "I'm very excited and very motivated.
"Every player is ready. We have a squad of 25 players who are all fit. They are showing they want to play for the team. Tonight, we decide to go for Fiona, who can bring experience and cosistency to the team.
"We have a big opportunity tonight. (Qualifying) would change lives for everyone. It's a big step we can take for the game, together.
"We need a noisy crowd. We need people who feel connected to the team."
A roar from Scotland captain Rachel Corsie is directed towards her team-mates as the final note of Flower of Scotland sounds.
Give us a thumbs up if you think Scotland will do it, or thumbs down for the visitors...
As the anthems start at Hampden, the full-time whistles sound in the other two semi-finals.
After two 1-1 draws, Switzerland v Wales, and Portugal v Iceland, are heading to extra time.
Remember, the winners at Hampden will be hoping for either Switzerland OR Wales to slip up, but not by a massive goal margin.
The teams are lining up inside Hampden's tunnel. The light show is in full swing.
Bring. It.
