It's hard to believe Rangers scored first and were looking pretty strong at Ibrox before Liverpool turned on the style after the interval.
It was a real demolition job, with Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah to the fore.

Jurgen Klopp's side are at home to Premier League champions Manchester City on Sunday.

Rangers go to Motherwell on Sunday, then have home games against Dundee and Livingston before their next Champions League outing.
That is a trip to Serie A leaders Napoli, who have a 100% record in Group A and have scored 17 goals in four games.

A bit more from Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst in his post match media conference: "After it went 2-1, we played too short too many times. They punished us with the attack they have. In the last 25 minutes we weren't in the game, not with our heads, not with the decisions we made. Against a team like Liverpool, you get punished.
"The first half and the last half hour was night and day. The way we played the last 25 minutes, you will lose against any team. I cannot explain at the moment.
"We have three days [before the next game]. The performance, the result is not the way we want to represent this club. No excuses for today. we need to process that and work towards Sunday.
"We need to accept the criticism. It's part of my job, and part of the players' job. We have to take it on the chin.
"We had a couple of big defeats already this season, that's not what we want, and that's something we need to work on. There are a lot of big games coming before the break.
"The whole locker room was quiet, because everyone feels the loss. Sometimes when the emotions are very high it's better not to speak and pick it up tomorrow.
"Both [Goldson and Jack] aren't good - they couldn't continue. For Connor, he tore something in his muscle, we have to wait and see exactly what the injury is. The same for Ryan, we have to assess how long it will be.
"We have to change our mentality. We can be very strong, but when we are not there mentally, our levels drop really quick."

Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst on BT Sport: "It was a very disappointing result. We played well first half and were in the game.
"The second goal - we know their strength. When you lose the ball in the middle of the pitch they are so fast on transition. We got caught a couple of times.
"We conceded too many easy goals. It went pretty quickly after that. We tried to push, but after the 3-1 you could see we were struggling. They upped the tempo and we weren't accurate in our passing."
On the bleak situation in Group A, Van Bronckhorst said: "I'm not thinking about anything. I'm just processing this defeat."

What's the opposite of silver lining? A dreadful night for Rangers also saw Connor Goldson and Ryan Jack limp out with injuries.
Goldson was on crutches as he looked on from the sidelines.

The game is done when Salah comes on, but he is desperate for goals and has a point to prove.
He found his mojo, and as Klopp says, when this team starts to fire, watch out.
It takes a team a lot better than Rangers to live with them. The 7-1 scoreline is mortifying.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp: "We had a really positive half-time talk. We wanted more in the second half. Clearly, it worked out.
"Special, particularly Mo [Salah]. Very important how we adapted to the positions, to the line-up. Everyone who started tonight played really well - Fabio [Carvalho] and Harvey [Elliott], really good. It's the best we could have asked for. I'm really pleased.
"I really think the first half prepared the second half. When we are on it, we can be a really good football team. We built on the good things from the first half, we kept them moving and obviously they had to change the centre-half.
"The goals we scored were exceptional. it's a night where things worked out for us. It changes the mood definitely, and that's good. We all know who is coming on Sunday (Manchester City). That will be different, but it's better to go in with the feeling from tonight."

The positions he was getting himself into and taking up, as well as his awareness when he receives the ball, is just fantastic.

This result should not reflect on Giovanni van Bronkhorst's position as Rangers manager, but this will take a while to work out of the system.
It was the way they surrendered, and got overran. Certain performances - Ryan Kent disappeared. There were several times where Gomez ran off him.
That whole second 45 has to be analysed. There will be a lot of angry supporters out there.

I watched some serious quality there, but also the professional pride of Rangers. For me, to concede seven goals, there's a big question mark there.
Their discipline went, they lost their shape. You should never concede that many goals, especially at home. There will be a fall-out from this.
To go from what we saw in the first half, to what we saw in the second half isn't good enough.
