    Rangers v Liverpool (20:00)

    Neil McCann
Former Rangers winger on BBC Sportsound

Ryan Kent is given the opportunity again to show what he's capable of. He has done it before, but it's in the distant memory now.

Colak gets a shot at Liverpool - Rangers have to get the ball in the box for this guy, he can finish.

  2. 'Old Firm dealing with gulf in class'published at 18:57 British Summer Time 12 October 2022

    Rangers v Liverpool (20:00)

    Jonathan Woodgate
Former England defender on BBC Sportsound

Liverpool haven't been great in the league this season, but it's going to be difficult for Rangers. There seems to be a real gulf in class when Celtic and Rangers play the top sides.

It's difficult to get on the ball against top teams - you've got to show courage and desire to get on the ball.

  3. Ajax reduce deficit at Napolipublished at 18:55 British Summer Time 12 October 2022

    Rangers v Liverpool (20:00)

Ajax have got one back through Davy Klaassen in Naples, to make that one interesting. It's 2-1 to the home side now.

    Rangers v Liverpool (20:00)

    Steven Thompson
Former Rangers striker on BBC Sportsound

Sakala gave Liverpool a couple of headaches in the last five minutes at Anfield. It's a big night for him, because this is a different level entirely. I'm not surprised by the Rangers team.

  5. No Salah for Liverpoolpublished at 18:49 British Summer Time 12 October 2022

    Rangers v Liverpool (20:00)

Mo Salah is a notable omission from the Liverpool XI.

Liverpool lost Luis Diaz, Joel Matip and Trent Alexander-Arnold to injuries in Sunday's 3-2 loss to Arsenal.

Joe Gomez moves over to right-back, Ibrahima Konate comes into central defence and Fabio Carvalho joins an attack that includes Bobby Firmino, while Harvey Elliott is added to the midfield trio.

Andy Robertson is fit for a place on the bench alongside Salah and Diogo Jota, who both started at the weekend.

Curtis Jones, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and Arthur Melo remain on the sidelines for the visitors.

  6. Colak starts, Kent returns for Rangerspublished at 18:45 British Summer Time 12 October 2022

    Rangers v Liverpool (20:00)

Antonio Colak leads the line for Rangers, so that means just one change from Saturday's 4-0 win over St Mirren as Ryan Kent takes over from Rabbi Matondo wide on the left.

Leon King, Steven Davis, Malik Tillman and Alfredo Morelos are the starters at Anfield who miss out.

  8. 'A special night ahead at Ibrox?'published at 18:37 British Summer Time 12 October 2022

    Rangers v Liverpool (20:00)

    Scott Mullen
    BBC Scotland at Ibrox

Arriving outside Ibrox, there's a buzz on the streets of Govan even 90 minutes before this one.

Rangers' need is great. Pointless and goalless in the Champions League so far this season, this place has thrown so many European ties their way over the last year. How they could be doing with an extra helping hand tonight.

How daunted Liverpool will be by the partisan atmosphere inside a rocking Ibrox, however, remains to be seen. After all, playing in front of a passionate crowd is what the Anfield club is all about. Having said that, something magical seems to occur under the lights here.

  9. Napoli cruising throughpublished at 18:34 British Summer Time 12 October 2022

    Rangers v Liverpool (20:00)

Half-time at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, with Napoli 2-0 up on Ajax.

  10. A night for two up top?published at 18:31 British Summer Time 12 October 2022

    Rangers v Liverpool (20:00)

    Tom English
BBC Scotland's chief sports writer on Sportsound

Rangers have had six shots on target in three Champions League games. Could Colak and Morelos play together? Maybe this is the night to find out.

  11. 'Colak has to start for Rangers'published at 18:29 British Summer Time 12 October 2022

    Rangers v Liverpool (20:00)

    Steven Thompson
Former Rangers striker on BBC Sportsound

Colak's goal return has been quite incredible. I don't think there's any way Giovanni van Bronckhorst can leave him out

  12. Who replaces TAA?published at 18:26 British Summer Time 12 October 2022

    Rangers v Liverpool (20:00)

Maybe not quite such a pressing matter, but who will fill in at right-back for Liverpool?

Joe Gomez or James Milner or might we see a debut for Scottish teenager Calvin Ramsay?

Scotland skipper Andy Robertson is back in the visitors squad after missing a month or so through injury.

  13. Colak or Morelos?published at 18:21 British Summer Time 12 October 2022

    Rangers v Liverpool (20:00)

That's the big question for Rangers. Who starts up front?

Alfredo Morelos is the club's top scorer in European competition, with 29 goals.

Antonio Colak is the man in form though, with 13 goals already this season.

Colak started in the Champions League opener away to Ajax, while Morelos got the nod at home to Napoli and at Anfield.

  14. McGregor keeps the score downpublished at 18:16 British Summer Time 12 October 2022

    Rangers v Liverpool (20:00)

The margin of victory last week could have been greater if it hadn't been for the heroics of Allan McGregor.

The veteran Rangers goalkeeper made a series of impressive stops, thwarting Darwin Nunez over and over again and leaving Diogo Jota slacked jawed in disbelief after getting fingertips to a powerful rising shot.

The 40-year-old will be hoping for a quieter evening.

  15. What happened at Anfield?published at 18:12 British Summer Time 12 October 2022

    Rangers v Liverpool (20:00)

Liverpool cantered to victory last week, with Trent Alexander-Arnold curling home a wonderful early free-kick and Mohamed Salah adding a second-half penalty.

It was pretty much one-way traffic, with Rangers pinned back defending their penalty area for long spells and offering little in attack.

  17. Napoli strike early at home to Ajaxpublished at 18:06 British Summer Time 12 October 2022

    Rangers v Liverpool (20:00)

The other game in Group A is up and running and Napoli are already in front at home to Ajax, with Hirving Lozano scoring after four minutes.

The red-hot Serie A leaders scored six in Amsterdam last week...

  18. Can Rangers intimidate at Ibrox?published at 18:03 British Summer Time 12 October 2022

    Rangers v Liverpool (20:00)

We gave last week's meeting the big 'Battle of Britain' build up, but it was something of an anticlimax as Liverpool barely broke sweat on their way to victory over Rangers at Anfield.

Surely we will get more fireworks tonight at Ibrox.

The questions over Liverpool's unconvincing start to the season continue after a weekend defeat, while Rangers desperately want to give their supporters something to cheer and improve on their halfway tally of no points and no goals.
