    Rangers 1-0 Liverpool

Liverpool look rattled as Joe Gomez takes a big risk with a blind backpass from out on the touchline. Antonio Colak gets to the ball before keeper Alisson but can only touch it across goal and there's no support for the Rangers striker.

    Neil McCann

That's why that man's in the side. He does what other midfielders don't do, he goes beyond, gets into areas where he can affect the game, and he's got a knack of finding the back of the net.

The shot across Alisson is inch perfect.

    Scott Arfield

A classic Scott Arfield goal... The midfielder hares through a gap between the Liverpool centre-halves to collect a smart pass from Ryan Jack and then sweeps a low shot into the corner of the net.

    Rangers 0-0 Liverpool

Ryan Jack does well to keep an overhit cross from Borna Barisic in play but can only stab a looping cross back into the mixer and it's an easy take for goalkeeper Alisson.

    Rangers 0-0 Liverpool

Darwin Nunez is maybe an extended knee offside as he collects a ball over the top inside the Rangers penalty box.

Interesting that he didn't take the shot on and was looking to pass. Perhaps he remembers how many times he was denied by Allan McGregor last week?

Liverpool have a lot of options in the centre of the pitch with Elliott and Carvalho.

It will be interesting to see how Rangers cope with their movement.

A crunching tackle on Ryan Jack by Ibrahima Konate cranks the noise up to an incredible level. Moments later, a sclaffed effort from Fashion Sakala triggers widespread applause and a rousing roar from the stands. It's bedlam in here.

Where was this Rangers last week?

It was a weak shot in the end by Kent but at least they're trying to get on the front foot!

They're trying to get down the sides because they'll see that as a weakness in the Liverpool team because their two main centre-backs are out.

That's more like it from Ryan Kent. We know he's got that in his locker, he just can't quite find Alisson's far corner.

It's a great pick out from John Lumdstram, and then it's a lovely touch, but Sakala doesn't quite catch the shot.

    Great intent from Rangers.

Colak has to get service. He doesn't take part in the game much outside the box, but in the box he comes alive.

Morelos is more a player who can get you something from nothing.

  18. 'We have to attack them' - Van Bronckhorstpublished at 19:57 British Summer Time 12 October 2022

    Rangers v Liverpool (20:00)

Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronkhorst has also been talking to BT Sport: "It's only one change from the weekend", he said. "The team is doing well in the league - today we have to start bright and attack them.

"We've had great experiences in Europe, both this season and last season. The atmosphere can be really good, but it's only good when you perform on the pitch."

  19. 'We have to make changes' - Klopppublished at 19:56 British Summer Time 12 October 2022

    Rangers v Liverpool (20:00)

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been giving his thoughts to BT Sport ahead of kick-off: "We have to realise we are in the middle of a busy period - we have to make changes. Diogo [Jota's absence] was not planned, but the medical department said he can play, but not for long. That's why he doesn't start, but he's available off the bench.

"The Rangers team is offensive - they will go for it, 100%."

    Rangers v Liverpool (20:00)

    Steven Thompson
Former Rangers striker on BBC Sportsound

When you play big teams like Liverpool at Ibrox, these players have played in big games.

The atmosphere won't affect Liverpool as much as other teams, but what the crowd does to Rangers is it provides energy and lifts the players.
