Sian Bennett from the Anfield Wrap, speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live on her expectations for tonight:

"I want to get the basics right, no one can deny the ability is there. If you look back at the Arsenal game, we were unplayable at times. It just comes down to lapses of concentration and confidence, which is all fixable.

"I want to see us get a clean sheet and to score first. We need to quieten the home crowd.

"I'm intrigued to see how the formation pans out too. We just need stability, we don't need to come flying out the traps.

"Game management has been our downfall, not the quality of the team.

"Liverpool thrive off European football and knockout football. It's refreshing when we know we're away from the league because you can reset.

"I'm confident we can get a result tonight and qualify."

Rangers have scored just seven goals in their last 16 Champions League games, and never more than once in a game in that run. They’ve failed to score in each of their three games this season, but have never gone four without a goal in the competition.

Liverpool have only failed to score in one of their last 20 Champions League group stage games, netting in each of their last 11 since a 2-0 loss to Atalanta in November 2020.

If you look at this competition it's still something Liverpool can win but if you look at the Premier League it's unlikely they'll win it.

It's an escape for them to come and play these games.

I'm looking forward to seeing Harvey Elliott and Fabio Carvalho play in this atmosphere.

Liverpool have won three of their seven away games against Scottish sides in Europe (D2 L2). However, they have never won consecutively in these cross-border encounters, beating Hearts 1-0 on their last visit in August 2012.

Liverpool have a W8 D4 L3 record against Scottish sides in Europe, a mirror image of Rangers' W3 D4 L8 record against English sides.

Liverpool-born midfielder John Lundstram wants Rangers to make life uncomfortable for the visitors and hopes to feed off the home support's energy.

"At Ibrox, you have to get up against people, get the crowd up, get them going and try to instil a bit of fear in the opposition," he said on Tuesday.

"Anyone who has been here will have felt the atmosphere, felt the aura around the place. If we can get up to them and in their faces, it might leave us open a bit and everyone will have to be brave in the stands and bear with us.

"If we can do that, that's the only way we can get a result against a team like Liverpool, who are really talented."

It makes sense in front of this crowd that Antonio Colak is starting because they've made it clear they want to see him playing.

He's scoring goals, yes it's a different class in the Champions League but this is a crowd who have high expectations.

It's no place for shrinking violets.

I know that atmosphere can't win games but it can lift players.

Ben Doak scored a fabulous late goal to give Liverpool a 4-3 win in the Under-19s contest at Firhill.

The Scottish forward, formerly with Celtic, is only 16 and looks a real talent.

The Best of You from the Foo Fighters comes crunching through the Ibrox sound system. You get the feeling the home side will need exactly that tonight.

"We have to find more moments in the game when we can be dangerous," said Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst yesterday.

"Of course our approach will be different because we need points to hopefully play after the break in Europe. But, we are still going to be up against a very good side.

"We want to be able to proceed in Europe when we play our last game at home against Ajax. Hopefully we are in a situation where, with a good result, we can continue.

"We need to get points. Ideally three points and we have to see the other results."

I think it's about having an eye on the game at the weekend but it's always big news when one of the best footballers in the world is being rested on the bench.

He hasn't had the best of seasons so far but you could say that about a lot of the Liverpool players, he's not the only one.
