Bristol City 0-0 Preston North End

Not a huge amount of action in front of goal to speak of at all as we approach half-time.

We've only had one shot on target between the two teams.

  2. Postpublished at 42 mins

Bristol City 0-0 Preston North End

Antoine Semenyo slides the ball in to Tommy Conway in the box, but Conway's effort is gathered fairly comfortably by Freddie Woodman.

This wasn't going to be a goal fest but at the moment Bristol City seem to be running out of ideas, and Preston are slow going forward and very defensive minded.

Bristol City 0-0 Preston North End

After a bit of a lively opening 10 minutes, the fizz has gone out of this match quite a bit.

Neither team can really get much of a grip on proceedings to take control.

Preston are so solid in defence, while Bristol City are clearly lacking that flow up front to break them down.

The way it dropped for Sean Maguire, it was worth a go.

I don't think Max O'Leary was ever really in any kind of trouble, though.

  6. Postpublished at 37 mins

Bristol City 0-0 Preston North End

Preston's Sean Maguire takes a shot from distance and is trying to dip it under the bar, with Max O'Leary slightly off his line, but it's too high.

  7. Postpublished at 35 mins

Bristol City 0-0 Preston North End

Alex Scott gets called up for pushing Sean Mcguire, although the Bristol City player isn't happy as he says his shirt was pulled first.

It means Preston get another free-kick, this time on the edge of the box deep on the right.

It comes all the way through to Ben Whiteman at the back, yet his shot is blocked and puts Bristol City on a break on the counter attack.

  8. YELLOW CARDpublished at 33 mins

Bristol City 0-0 Preston North End

Jay Dasilva becomes the first Bristol City player to go into the book after challenge on Ali McCann, and the Bristol City midfielder doesn't look happy about it.

It gives Preston a free-kick just inside their half and while they send it towards the box it comes to nothing.

There are a lot of empty seats at Ashton Gate tonight, which you can partly understand considering the run of results Bristol City have been on of late and the fact it's a Wednesday night fixture.

Still, the atmosphere so far is fairly muted...

  10. Postpublished at 29 mins

Bristol City 0-0 Preston North End

Alex Scott's free-kick comes in to the near post and it gets over the wall but doesn't get further than the head of Ben Whiteman, who clears the ball away.

  11. YELLOW CARDpublished at 28 mins

Bristol City 0-0 Preston North End

Jay Dasilva wins a free-kick in a dangerous area right on the edge of the box after a tussle with Liam Lindsay, the latter who is shown a yellow card by the referee.

He does well to make something out of nothing, really, getting goalside of the defender before being brought down.

  12. Preston hard to break downpublished at 20:13 British Summer Time 12 October 2022

Bristol City 0-0 Preston North End

    Glen Little
Former Burnley winger on BBC Radio Lancashire

Defensively you can see why Preston are keeping clean sheets.

They're good at reading the game and Liam Lindsay in particular looks strong.

  13. Postpublished at 24 mins

Bristol City 0-0 Preston North End

Preston are slowly growing in confidence and Sean Maguire was almost in on goal then.

Daniel Johnson feeds a lovely pass through into the box and Maguire breaks the offside trap to run onto it.

Max O'Leary comes off his line first however and covers the ball before the Ireland international gets to it.

  14. Postpublished at 21 mins

Bristol City 0-0 Preston North End

Zak Vyner fires a ball in from the right across the face of goal, there's just none of his team-mates there to do anything with it.

  15. Postpublished at 20 mins

Bristol City 0-0 Preston North End

We know Preston aren't the most active in front of goal, but so far they've seemed happy to soak up all the pressure from Bristol City in this opening 20 minutes.

The Robins midfield quartet of Sykes, Weimann, Scott and Dasilva have comfortably been controlling things.

  16. Postpublished at 16 mins

Bristol City 0-0 Preston North End

Preston finally do get the ball into the Bristol City box, as Sean Maguire brings a chip over the top down and chests it to Andrew Hughes.

But it's blocked well by the home defence and comes to nothing.

  17. 'Bristol City have belief'published at 20:00 British Summer Time 12 October 2022

Bristol City 0-0 Preston North End

    Chris Honor
Former Bristol City defender, BBC Radio Bristol

There's a belief already that we didn't see on Saturday and a confidence.

There's a way that Bristol City are playing that we just didn't see at the weekend.

  18. Postpublished at 12 mins

Bristol City 0-0 Preston North End

Bristol City have really started this match with intensity, Preston just can't get near the ball.

They get another dangerous ball into the box and Tommy Conway offloads to Andi Weimann, but the Austrian's shot is blocked as it goes goalwards.

Antoine Semenyo was almost played in on goal by Joe Williams but couldn't quite get on the end of the pass.

It all came from a lovely bit of play from Alex Scott, whose ball through midfield cuts right through the Preston team.

  20. Postpublished at 6 mins

Bristol City 0-0 Preston North End

Preston have barely been out of their half so far in this opening few minutes.

They finally get a chance to get hold of the ball a bit but it's stolen straight back by Alex Scott, who wins the Robins another free-kick.
