Want to stop time wasting in football? Book the captain, not the time waster. Simples.

One thing Brighton won't do is just put the ball needlessly in the box, they'll still wait for an opening. It's not what the crowd want to see. They just want to see the ball get closer to the Aston Villa net.

Tariq Lamptey crosses, it's headed away.

Mark: Great players do not equal great managers, best move for Gerrard would be to take on a league 1/2 team and learn the coaching craft. Players do their badges and expect to manage a top club, crazy.
Mike: Zinedine Zidane didn't need to practice in the lower leagues fellas before he cut it in the big time. It's all about context and the individual, not a blanket argument.

I wonder how much Michael Beale was behind Gerrard's managerial success. Seems good tactics and player selection left Villa Park when he did...

Don't agree with the Lampard and Gerrard negativity - at the end of the day they took a job they were offered. Direct your anger to your clubs owners and boards who took them on!

A delightful ball from Mac Allister, he puts it absolutely on the button. Colwill is there, it's as though he jumps too early and is just underneath the ball. Because he does that, he can't change the direction of the header.
A great chance there for Brighton, a delicious ball from Mac Allister on that right hand side.

Ah, that was the chance for Brighton. Levi Colwill is completely unmarked eight yards out and heads over.

Brighton are really searching to get this equaliser. All due respect to Aston Villa who are standing strong.

Brighton win a corner. Pascal Gross takes it short. Leandro Trossard crosses it in. Villa just get it away.

Agree regarding Gerrard being found out. Too much ego and tried to stamp his authority in the wrong way, while tactically average. More top class ex players should really follow Vincent Kompany's route with management!
Gina
Totally agree, Lampard is another. It used to take managers years of learning their trade and how to manage a football club in the lower leagues until they finally had the credibility to get a job with the so called big clubs.

Some football! Villa get the ball into the box and Ashley Young drags a shot well wide.

The game is just getting a bit scatty at the moment. There's no real quality football in the last three or four minutes.
