    FT: Torquay 2-2 Derby

    Marc Edworthy
Former Derby defender on BBC Radio Derby

Derby in the first half were superb, they handled the situation well and deserved to go 2-0 up. They were in cruise control and I thought they would go on to win comfortably.

But Eiran Cashin was sloppy, he is better than that, and he gave an opportunity to the opposition with the straight red. And then the game changes.

I thought they were going to do enough to see it out but Torquay kept going.

Derby lacked a bit of quality in the second half and it allowed Torquay to get back into the game.

    FT: Torquay 2-2 Derby

A reminder that Torquay are currently bottom of the National League - 65 places below Derby in the league pyramid.

They really roused themselves for this one.

The game spun on Derby losing Eiran Cashin to a red card after 55 minutes with Torquay scoring the ensuing penalty.

From then on they threw the kitchen sink at Derby and came up with a deserved equaliser deep into injury time.

Every single player for Torquay has given a brilliant account of themselves.

It's a very well deserved draw for Torquay United.

There was no doubt who the better side were when Derby were 2-0 up but the red card changed the game.

    Torquay 2-2 Derby

    All over!

This competition always delivers doesn't it?

Torquay were on top ever since Derby went down to 10 men and kept at it right up until the final kick of the game when Will Goodwin popped up with a dramatic equaliser to earn his side a well-deserved replay.

The home fans absolutely loved that and it was incredible entertainment from first minute to last.

There are fans pouring out on to the pitch. You are encouraging trouble.

It's been wet, windy, frustrating and that's a hard one to take.

GOAL: Torquay 2-2 Derbypublished at 16:56 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2022

    Will Goodwin (90+5 mins)

    Pandemonium!

Torquay have equalised with surely the last kick of the game!

The ball goes into the mixer once again and Aaron Jarvis shoots at goal with his effort finding Will Goodwin standing just in front of Derby keeper Joe Wildsmith and he diverts it into the net.

    Simply incredible ending!

    Torquay 1-2 Derby

    Two minutes left.

Torquay's Mark Ellis is shown a yellow card for a foul on Liam Thompson.

That will run the clock down nicely for the Rams.

Derby are living dangerously at the back.

Their defence is under huge pressure as the clock ticks down.

Balls into the box are causing problems and Dylan Crowe is the latest man to go close.

Derby have been hanging on, although credit where it's due, their centre halves have defended most things well.

But can United get that dream equaliser?

  17. CLOSE!published at 16:46 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2022

    Torquay 1-2 Derby

    What a strike that is!

Shaun Donnellan can't have caught a half-volley sweeter in his life.

It's a beautiful strike which whistles very narrowly wide of the Derby goal.

Derby hearts were in mouths there - it looked in when he hit it.

    Torquay 1-2 Derby

    Ten minutes to go.

    Can Torquay find an equaliser?

It's been all them since Derby went down to 10 men.

The Rams just want the whistle and to head home with a place in the next round.

  19. Non-league Curzon Ashton earn replaypublished at 16:42 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2022

FT: Curzon Ashton 0-0 Cambridge United

National League North side Curzon Ashton's name will appear in Monday's second round draw after they held League One Cambridge United to a goalless draw.

They will try again the week after next in one of six replays so far.

  20. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 16:39 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2022

    Torquay 1-2 Derby

Scorer of both Derby goals Will Osula is off, replaced by Liam Thompson.

You get the feeling that Torquay need to strike now while they are in the ascendancy.

They are well on top at present but they need to be aware of the threat on the counter.
