It falls to Giakoumakis, who is not going to miss that. I think he's Celtic's best finisher. Six or seven yards out, goalkeeper to beat, he's clinical.

A decent cross from Haksabanovic, and it falls to the extra man in the box. What a good finish from Giakoumakis, right into the corner.

  8. Kyogo the more central strikerpublished at 20:29 British Summer Time 25 October 2022

    Celtic 0-0 Shakhtar Donetsk

Much of the pre-match chatter revolved around how strike partners Kyogo Furuhashi and Giorgos Giakoumakis would line up in the same starting XI.

As you can see from their average positions so far, it's the Japanese international (8) who is featuring more centrally, with the big Greek (7) slightly off to his left.

Matt O'Riley takes aim for the far top corner with a curling shot. A nice idea, but his effort from the edge of the box flies a couple of feet wide.

Shakhtar are well organised. They keep the ball well, they're in no rush, and they have been counter-pressing really well.

The last five minutes, Celtic have looked a bit ragged. Jenz does the right thing by heading that behind under pressure.

In the reverse fixture in Warsaw, Shakhtar employed the football equivalent of boxing's rope-a-dope. They sat back, let Celtic come at them, time and again, and trusted their defensive skills. So far, they're looking to utilise similar tactics, although they have looked dangerous on the counter-attack, especially when the ball goes anywhere near the mercurial Mykhailo Mudryk.

Celtic, by contrast, haven't started as well as they did in either of the previous two home matches against Real Madrid and RB Leipzig.

He's got that pace, Mudryk. You worry about him getting in behind the Celtic back four.

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou is keen to get a message out to midfielder Matt O'Riley. Looks like he was asking him to slow down a little, take a little more time on the ball, rather than try to rush things too much. Otherwise, the Aussie coach has his arms folded in quiet appreciation of the decent start his side has made.

Shakhtar get some time on the ball for the first time and they are in no big rush to go anywhere.
