Here come Celtic with a nice, flowing move. Reo Hatate takes a pass in his stride and lays it off to Giorgos Giakoumakis, who then thunders a wasteful shot high over the top.

The visitors continue to ping the ball around in their own penalty area and the keeper looks to have a lovely touch.

Shakhtar Donetsk look a little nervous as they try and play out from the back, with Celtic snapping at their heels.

The early pace is high as Reo Hatate sends Liel Abada scampering forward but there's a defender in close proximity to block the winger's progress.

And away we go.

Nice touch at Celtic Park. To a backdrop of 'You'll Never Walk Alone', with the green and white scarves held aloft, a line of child mascots walked onto the field, some of whom are kids from Ukraine who've come to Glasgow to escape the conflict in their country.

A poignant reminder of the bigger issue at play for Shakhtar Donetsk players and fans.

It's the last time they'll hear that Champions League anthem at Celtic Park for at least a year, and boy did the supporters inside the stadium bellow their appreciation when their side walked out to it.

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou tells BT Sport: "They've (Kyogo & Giakoumakis) obviously played in games together before. From our perspective, it's a game we need to win. We want to put pressure on the opposition. Hopefully, having those two out there - if we create the chances we have been - they can take them.

"I still think this group is very receptive to what we're doing. I see how hard they work every day. Our football is constantly improving. We're trying to be a certain type of team and we're not wavering from that, even though we haven't had the results at this level.

"That's always the barometer for me - what I see from the guys. They haven't got bored of me yet, so we're going okay."

The first few minutes may well hold the key to any Celtic success this evening, as Ange Postecoglou's side target the Champions League victory they crave.

I was here for the other two home matches, and watched Liel Abada miss two good early chances against Real Madrid; I then saw Daizen Maeda miss a fabulous chance in the opening minute against RB Leipzig.

No room for such profligacy tonight, you would have thought. An early goal this evening would get the stadium rocking and create a solid platform to build upon.

Former Celtic forward Simon Donnelly has been talking to BBC Sportsound ahead of kick-off: "Hopefully we can get a win tonight. We deserved to win in Warsaw in the reverse fixture.

"It's a very attacking team Ange Postecoglou has put out. The players have shown domestically that they know where the goal is. At the top level you need the rub of the green at times.

"If the players take their chances then they will take the three points. The only criticism is that they haven't taken the chances - it's fine lines, they could be sitting on a few more points.

"It's a tall order now, but fans have had a taste of the Champions League. For the team to keep progressing, you have to be in these tournaments."

Shakhtar Donetsk have also been flexing their muscles domestically, banging in 12 goals in their last three league matches.

The visitors were given the weekend off to prepare for tonight's game and sit three points behind leaders Dnipro, who are also unbeaten and have played a game more.

Celtic have had no trouble finding the net since their last Champions League outing.

In Premiership wins over Hibs and Hearts and a League Cup victory at Motherwell, they have knocked in 14 goals.

The disco lights are on inside the stadium, which means kick-off is not far off - and here come a couple more stats on current form, which suggest this one isn't going to be a drab 0-0...

Celtic shipped three goals at home to Real Madrid and two to RB Leipzig.

They have only kept one clean sheet in their last 29 matches in the Champions League, with that coming in a win at Anderlecht in September 2017.

Interesting team news from Celtic. Giakoumakis up front, with Kyogo left and Abada right? Midfield trio of O'Riley, Hatate and Haksabaonvic? The home side are clearly going to give it a go, as usual, in front of their own fans, who're starting to fill Celtic Park up, as we approach twenty minutes to go until kick-off.

Shakhtar's early season achievements are all the more impressive given the number of star players they are without.

Four of their Brazilians were sold over the summer for close to £40m.

Seven more Brazilians were allowed to leave on loan, along with Israel winger Manor Solomon, after Fifa ruled that foreign players and coaches in Ukraine can suspend their contracts with clubs until 30 June 2023, in light of Russia's invasion.
