  1. Coalville Town head to The Valleypublished at 14:48 Greenwich Mean Time 5 November 2022

Charlton Athletic v Coalville Town (15:00 GMT)

Coalville Town have only reached in the FA first round once before in their history and that was almost 20 years ago, back in 2004 where they lost to Wycombe Wanderers.

Still, the Southern League Premier have pedigree of beating superior opposition this season, having brushed aside National League Notts County 3-2 in the fourth qualifying round to get to this point.

The Addicks are sitting pretty in the top half of the League One table as it stands and apart from one slip two years ago, have consistently progressed beyond the first round of the competition for 12 years.

MK Dons v Taunton Town (15:00 GMT)

For a taste of what it's like as a non-league player, look no further than Taunton Town's captain.

Nick Grimes might be about to play the biggest match of his footballing career against MK Dons, but he couldn't get out of his day job early enough to make the bus to travel with his teammates on Friday night.

"I've got to get my mum and dad to drive me up," he told BBC Points West.

Seventh tier Taunton are in the first round for the third time although, somewhat dauntingly, League One opposition MK Dons have never lost an FA Cup tie against a non-league team out of 12 fixtures.

  3. Alvechurch end 49-year FA Cup absencepublished at 14:35 Greenwich Mean Time 5 November 2022

Cheltenham Town v Alvechurch (15:00 GMT)

In terms of FA Cup minnows, they don't come smaller than Alvechurch in this year's first round.

The Worcestershire club are the lowest ranked team in the competition and play in the Southern Premier Central division - the seventh tier of the football pyramid - where they currently sit 19th. That's a whole 96 places below today's opponents Cheltenham in League One.

You have to go all the way back to the 1973-74 season to find when Alvechurch last played in the FA Cup first round. Back then, they reached the third round before being beaten by Bradford City.

Alvechurch are making the relatively short trip south to the Completely-Suzuki Stadium but face a Cheltenham side who have reached the second round in the last four seasons.

"We'll prep for them to be at their best and play above themselves," Cheltenham head coach Wade Elliott told BBC Radio Gloucestershire.

GOAL: Bolton 0-2 Barnsleypublished at 14:35 Greenwich Mean Time 5 November 2022

    Adam Phillips (33 mins)

Adam Phillips fires Barnsley into a two-goal lead with a fine strike into the top corner, giving goalkeeper James Trafford no chance.

Good but not Connor Wickham standard!

Plenty of enquiries in the home defence about not closing down quick enough, and Barnsley have one foot in the second round.

  5. Chippenham looking to make historypublished at 14:31 Greenwich Mean Time 5 November 2022

Chippenham Town v Lincoln City (15:00 GMT)

78 places in the football ladder separate Chippenham Town of National League South from this afternoon’s League One visitors Lincoln City.

On paper that makes this the sixth biggest mismatch of the competition this weekend, but as we all know, the FA Cup First Round is not intended to be played on paper, it’s supposed to be played on very soggy grass on grey afternoons in Wiltshire, just like this!

Chippenham are seeking to reach the second round for the first time in their history, having first reached this stage in 1951 while Lincoln have had their fair share of moments in the sun in this competition, reaching the sixth round in 2016-17, with Sean Raggett’s 89th-minute winner at Burnley going down in cup folklore.

They say the cup is a great leveller so it will be fascinating to see what happens when Chippenham leave their struggles at the wrong end of National League South behind, and the Imps pause their promotion-push in League One. Kick-off is at 15:00 GMT.

When Coalville Town line up against League One high flyers Charlton Athletic, among their ranks is a Leicester City record holder who battled against Real Madrid's German superstar Toni Kroos in an Under-17 World Cup quarter-final and celebrated a rare Wembley double.

Ashley Chambers represented England at youth level and was the Foxes youngest ever player, when he made his debut aged 15 in 2005.

"I'm 32, it's not going to propel me up the leagues," he told BBC Sport. "But I can use it as a stage to go 'I'm still here, still alive and can still mix it with decent players'.

"I know now these opportunities may not come around often. I want to soak it in, enjoy the game and give the best version of myself for people to say 'he's not too bad'."

  7. FULL-TIMEpublished at 14:26 Greenwich Mean Time 5 November 2022

    Bradford 0-1 Harrogate

A famous win for Harrogate. A dark day for Bradford, who have now failed to win any of their last six home FA Cup ties and are roundly booed-off.

Matty Daly scored the only goal after nine minutes, against the club he was previously with on loan. Bradford, meanwhile, failed to register a shot on target.

Harrogate have now won all three matches they have played at Valley Parade and are through to the Second Round.

Four-time winner Mark Hughes and his Bradford City side, Cup winners in 1911, are out in the First Round.

  8. Needham Market make FA Cup debutpublished at 14:23 Greenwich Mean Time 5 November 2022

Burton Albion v Needham Market (15:00 GMT)

Needham Market is a town of only around 4,500 people and the team are making their FA Cup first round debut today. They have been given the task of taking on Burton Albion, four divisions above them.

However, their manager Kevin Horlock is no stranger to big occasions and causing upset.

As a player, his 90th minute goal in the 1998-1999 season saw Manchester City - then in the third tier - comeback against Gillingham in the play-off final at Wembley to secure promotion.

"It will be tough, we'll probably need them to have an off day and be at our best, but that can happen. The FA Cup is renowned for upsets," Horlock said.

    Bradford 0-1 Harrogate

Jaheim Headley dinks and dunks his way into the area trying to seal it for the visitors but his low effort is too close to keeper Harry Lewis.

Harrogate have looked threatening on the counterattack ever since they took the lead after just nine minutes.

  11. Bolton in tribute kitpublished at 14:19 Greenwich Mean Time 5 November 2022

    Bolton 0-1 Barnsley

Dion Charles has the ball in the net but the equaliser is disallowed for offside.

Bolton are wearing a special FA Cup tribute kit to mark the centenary season of their 2-0 victory over West Ham United in the white horse final at Wembley in 1923.

It would be a shame if the kit was only worn once!

City boss Mark Hughes - a four-time Cup winner himself - introduces Vadaine Oliver off the bench for the final five minutes of regular time.

A third six-foot-plus striker for the City players to target in the box.

You'd expect it's going to be one-way traffic from here on in.

If Town do progress he's more than played his part.

    Bradford 0-1 Harrogate

Bradford are finally giving it a proper go in the final 20 minutes in front of a crowd of 6,837 at Valley Parade.

The fact they are still in the tie is pretty much down to Romoney Crichlow who cleared off the line to prevent Jack Muldoon making it 2-0 from Jaheim Headley’s cross.

Will there be a grandstand finish?
