Two goals from Ashley Barnes and one from Anass Zaroury saw Burnley hammer Blackburn Rovers to return to the top of the Championship.

Burnley should be top of the table and they should be further ahead, they have been brilliant all season.

There have been moments when teams have scored late equalisers against them but Vincent Kompany will be so pleased that that are doing so well and picking up the points.

Blackburn are more of an attacking side, there are better having a go at teams because they can score goals.

But when they sit back they shoot themselves in the foot. The players aren't good enough yet to play the perfect game.

Today Blackburn couldn't keep the ball and they couldn't get the ball off Burnley. The management have to stand up and be counted for that performance.

Burnley were comfortable in the second period and they asserted pressure all over the park.

Blackburn's game plan all seemed wrong to me, with playing out from the back, and they made it far too easy for Burnley.

This is how we're looking headed into the World Cup break.

Burnley are three points clear at the Championship, with Sheffield United in second place.

Blackburn are still in the mix despite today's result.

10 points separate the top six, albeit with sixth-placed Millwall having a game in hand on the rest of the frontrunners.

They will be very, very happy.

Worth noting that just before the full-time whistle, some fireworks went off above Turf Moor which have apparently been set off from outside the ground.

Fortunately they didn't land on any players and the game was able to continue for the final few seconds.

It's gone from bad to worse for Blackburn. I put it down to the tactics Rovers came with.

I understand teams come to Burnley to frustrate them and Blackburn have come in defensive mode.

But they have been better this season when they have gone and attacked teams and scored goals.

Burnley win a succession of corners as they keep pushing for a fourth.

Polar opposite from the first half, this.

Josh Brownhill sends a free-kick into the Blackburn box.

Jack Cork eventually works a shot away but it's blocked and goes out for a Burnley corner.
