    Cameroon 3-3 Serbia

I don't wish to dissuade you from following this blog, but arguably the game of the tournament so far is happening between Cameroon and Serbia.

Mitrovic appeared to have sealed the game for Serbia by finishing a slick team move to put them 3-1 ahead - but Cameroon have pulled things level with two strikes in four minutes.

Vincent Aboubakar made it 3-2 with a sensational chipped finish, before setttng up Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting for a breakaway equaliser.

  2. More African managers is a sign of progress for football - Drogbapublished at 11:30 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2022

More from Didier Drogba who has been reflecting on how much progress African nations have made at this year's World Cup.

Currently all five African teams in Qatar are managed by African managers, but at the next tournament in North America we could see up to 10 African nations.

Drogba hopes more there are more chances for African managers to succeed outside of its continent and on the global stage.

"It is a sign of progress for the African countries but also the sign of progress of football," he says.

"You haven't seen many African managers in football teams in Europe and I think the more mangers we have in the best leagues the more you are going to see good managers taking the job of the national team and more chances at being successful.

"I'd be happy to see that happening, it is the beginning.

"Managing a national team is not about being African or not. It is about the quality of your work. If you come from Japan and manage Ivory Coast and get results everyone will be happy."

Speaking on the World Football in Qatar podcast Drogba says he has intentions to keep giving back to his country and his continent.

  3. Big game for Wardpublished at 11:26 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2022

After Wayne Hennessey became the first player at this World Cup to be sent off in Wales' defeat to Iran, Danny Ward (centre of pic with brown hair) is set to start against England.

The Leicester goalkeeper could do little about the two late Iran goals, but will be crucial for the Welsh hopes of progression.

Ward was Wales' first choice at Euro 2020 and has Premier League experience after becoming Leicester No 1 this season - but a key World Cup group game is something else.

  5. More pain for Bale?published at 11:18 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2022

Wales must beat England tomorrow to ensure their first World Cup finals campaign since 1958 does not end after three games.

Rob Page's men have been going through their final training session before that game at Al Sadd Sports Club this morning.

Can Gareth Bale inspire his country to a historic win - or will it be further heartbreak for the Welsh...

A defining feature of the 2022 World Cup group stage has been how open it is.

Just France have won their first two games - although both Brazil and Portugal could do the same later - and are the only team through to the knock-outs so far.

Similarly, only two sides have gone out - Canada, and host nation Qatar.

What are your predictions for the remainder of the group stage? Who will progress and who will fall by the wayside? Let us know on Twitter via #bbcfootball.

  11. Added time strikes againpublished at 10:57 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2022

Six minutes were added on for the first half of Cameroon v Serbia - and they could prove key with the Serbians scoring twice.

It follows a theme from this tournament of matches featuring plenty of added minutes as FIFA clamp down on time wasting.

On Friday and Saturday, only one of the eight games ran for under 100 minutes total on the clock - the England v USA snoozefest.

  13. Foden to play ‘big part’ in World Cup – Southgatepublished at 10:40 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2022

Phil Foden still has a "big part" to play in the country's World Cup campaign despite playing a limited role in the first two group matches, says England manager Gareth Southgate.

Foden has been a substitute so far and was not used in the underwhelming draw with the United States.

"We love Phil, he's a super player," said Southgate, who has guided England to four points from two games in Qatar.

"He's going to play a big part in this tournament for us."

  14. Significant matches in Group Hpublished at 10:35 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2022

    Emma Sanders
    BBC Sport in Qatar

Good morning from Qatar! It's a fairly cool day, with a nice breeze, and I'm off to South Korea v Ghana in Group H this afternoon (1pm UK time).

Both games in Group H are significant today with Portugal v Uruguay to come late in the evening.

If Ghana lose, they are out of the competition. South Korea really need a victory given they have Portugal in their final match.

But the group standings going into the final matches could be dictated by the result between Portugal and Uruguay.

A victory for Uruguay would really mix things up and make the group wide open - especially if South Korea get the win they crave.

  16. Will O'Neil get healthy January kitty?published at 10:27 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2022

Kris Temple, BBC Radio Solent's AFC Bournemouth commentator:

I thin its probably the right appointment for the club at the time. He was given an opportunity to prove himself over a 12-game period. To be honest he has done pretty well. He came in off the lowest of the low, when they lost 9-0 to Liverpool. His record over 12 games is drawn four, won four, lost four.

For someone coming in cold - let's not forget it's his first ever taste of management as he's been a coach or in a backroom staff but never a manager before - and he's still only 39, an inexperienced age to be a Premier League manager too.

I think fans were probably a bit mixed in the middle part of his spell. It came back together with two great wins over Everton in the final matches before the break. He has some popularity around the place, an 18 month contract and a great opportunity to prove himself.

The takeover hasn't quite been finalised yet. That should be done any time soon. There was a thought possibly that with money coming in and probably a decent transfer kitty in January, maybe an experienced manager to spend that might have been the call for Bournemouth.

They are not afraid to give people an opportunity if they have done well. Eddie Howe came in in the first instance as a caretaker and look where he is now. Who is to say - it didn't happen for Jason Tindall or Jonathan Woodgate but it could for O'Neil.

    Mark Mitchener, BBC Sport

The appointment of Gary O’Neil as full-time Bournemouth boss answers one of the questions that have been hanging over the club for a while.

It may also be a sign they anticipate the Premier League’s rubber-stamping of Bill Foley’s takeover cannot be too far away, given that O’Neil’s elevation would only have been made at the behest of the new ownership.

While he may not be the star name some had wanted – perhaps expectations were heightened by the noise surrounding ex-Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa - O'Neil knows the club well after nearly two years under Jonathan Woodgate and Scott Parker, before taking the reins himself.

He will know the conditions under which he will be expected to work. He understands how Bournemouth are already massively punching above their weight but how they have often thrived as an underdog in adversity.

He will know how a club with only a category three academy will always risk losing local talent to bigger clubs, yet has produced first-team players such as Jaidon Anthony, Jordan Zemura and Mark Travers.

He will know that there are plans to improve the infrastructure, with a new training ground under construction (a rise to category two academy status is part of that plan), while Foley’s imminent takeover brings the prospect of increased capacity, whether at Vitality Stadium or a new venue.

Most importantly of all, O’Neil knows his squad (and what prospect there is of strengthening it in January) – and they know him, with several players effusive about his methods, and welcoming the prospect of him as full-time boss.

O’Neil’s original brief as caretaker boss was to “steady the ship” after Parker’s departure. He has undoubtedly done that.

Now the really hard work – to keep the Cherries in the top flight – must begin.

  19. O'Neil gets permanent Cherries jobpublished at 10:17 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2022

The big Premier League news from over the weekend was Bournemouth appointing their now former interim manager Gary O'Neil to the role on a full time basis.

The 39-year-old took the helm at Vitality Stadium afterhead coach Scott Parker was sackedin August.

O'Neil has signed a one-and-a-half year contract, which has the option to be extended for a further 12 months.

Bournemouth have earned 13 points from 11 top-flight games with O'Neil in interim charge, and are 14th in the Premier League.
