More from Brazilian sports reporter Natalie Gedra, speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live.

On the penalty awarded to Portugal in the win over Uruguay: "The handball rule is very confusing. It didn't look like an unnatural position, but at the same time they've argued he expanded the area with his arm."

On Ronaldo claiming Bruno Fernandes' goal: "Talk about a confident guy. I was in the stadium and was like 'of course it touched Ronaldo's head'. When they announced in the stadium it was Bruno's goal, people were moaning and I'm thinking 'guys, it's still a goal, you can celebrate'."

"It wasn't a brilliant match from Portugal. They have a very talented generation and when you speak to their fans they seem frustrated because they know they can play well, but as a group they don't quite reach that level."

Cristiano Ronaldo thought he had given Portugal the lead last night...

But officials decided he never got a touch so his old Manchester United team-mate Bruno Fernandes was given the goal.

Then, after Ronaldo was replaced, Portugal won a penalty - which Fernandes scored.

So Ronaldo could have scored twice on another night - and overtaken Eusebio to become Portugal's World Cup record goalscorer - but Fernandes got the double instead.

    Portugal 2-0 Uruguay

During last night's game between Portugal and Uruguay in Lusail, a fan ran onto the pitch with a rainbow flag - stopping play briefly.

Qatar's treatment of LGBT+ people has been a major talking point around this tournament.

Homosexuality is illegal in the Gulf state and the decision to host the World Cup there has been criticised by LGBTQ+ groups.

The pitch invader's T-shirt said 'Save Ukraine' and 'Respect For Iranian Woman'.

  6. Portugal make it throughpublished at 08:18 Greenwich Mean Time 29 November 2022

    Portugal 2-0 Uruguay

Portugal became the third team to seal their place in the knockout stages with a battling 2-0 win over Uruguay.

A game short on real quality saw the deadlock broken in the 54th minute when a cross from Bruno Fernandes floated beyond Uruguay keeper Sergio Rochet, the goal given to Manchester United's midfield man despite Cristiano Ronaldo claiming it had glanced off his head (more on that in a min).

Portugal made most of the running until they went ahead but Uruguay, who must now beat Ghana in their final Group H game to have a chance of qualifying, created chances of their own and could have taken a point.

Rodrigo Bentancur's brilliant first-half run was halted by Portugal keeper Diogo Costa's save, while substitute Maxi Gomez hit the post as Uruguay went in search of an equaliser.

Portugal wrapped up the win in stoppage time when Fernandes got his second from the spot after a video assistant referee intervention which adjudged Jose Gimenez had handled.

Brazilian sports reporter Natalie Gedra, speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live.

"We're still feeling very confident [about Brazil's chances], but it wasn't easy against Switzerland, especially with the injuries.

"Without Neymar and Danilo there were fewer options. Tite was more conservative with his choices. He played Eder Militao at right-back after there had been speculation that he'd play Dani Alves.

"He also played Fred as another defensive midfielder, which slowed the midfield. Fred, Casemiro and [Lucas] Paqueta didn't really work together. Rodrygo was introduced at half-time and things began to flow more naturally.

"Switzerland are always tricky, but Casemiro came to the rescue."

On Neymar's ankle: "It's definitely not great. I think it's very unlikely he will play the last group game but even the last 16. Tite was optimistic but he is an optimistic guy. There is a possibility he plays in the World Cup but not so soon."

  8. 'Best midfielder in the world' is Brazil's unlikely heropublished at 08:11 Greenwich Mean Time 29 November 2022

    Brazil 1-0 Switzerland

He was described before the match as Brazil's key "invisible man", by full-time Casemiro was being lauded as the "best midfielder in the world".

Brazil's World Cup match against Switzerland looked to be heading for a dour, goalless draw but the Manchester United player had other ideas.

"I scored but is important to have assisted the whole team," said the midfielder, who was player of the match.

"When we win, we win together, when we lose, we lose together. It doesn't change my mindset.

"This is a group, the Brazil national team as players, we must play as a group. That is most important to get the title."

    Brazil 1-0 Switzerland

Casemiro scored a fantastic late winner as Brazil beat Switzerland 1-0 to book their place in the last 16.

It looked to be a night of frustration for the five-time winners until the Manchester United midfielder fired a wonderful first-time effort into the top corner with five minutes left.

Alisson hasn't had a save to make yet in two games.

The Express suggests a video of Wales celebrating that defeat has "fired up" the England players ahead of tonight's game.
