Of all the players competing in the third round of the FA Cup this weekend, few will have experienced a journey quite as eventful as the one that led Jesurun Uchegbulam to Chesterfield.

Born in Nigeria, Uchegbulam spent several years at AC Milan's academy and experienced playing at the San Siro, one of the most iconic stadiums in world football.

When his family moved to England, the winger had an extended trial at Everton cut short by a health scare which resulted in heart surgery at the age of 16.

Several months later, eager to play again after making a full recovery, he joined Stockport Town in the 10th tier of English football.

Uchegbulam had gone from playing at the San Siro to the North West Counties League in the space of two years.

After joining National League Chesterfield last summer following spells at Mossley and Matlock Town, he hopes to help the Spireites deliver one of this weekend's biggest surprises when West Brom, from three leagues above, visit the non-league club.

It was sad day yesterday with news of the death of Gianluca Vialli, the Italian striker who felt like he came from a bold new future when he rocked up in the Premier League to play up top before managing Chelsea.

Vialli was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2017. In 2020 he revealed he had been given the all-clear, but was diagnosed with it again in 2021.

Another early kick-off is the all-Premier League tie between Crystal Palace and Southampton. Saints desperately need a win to get their fans back on side after being jeered off at the end of Wednesday's 1-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest which left them anchored at the bottom of the table.

"The fans won't forget about Wednesday's performance and the only thing that will get them to forget is results," said Southampton boss Nathan Jones.

"That's the big improvement, to change the momentum of the football club because with the greatest respect, they've been losing games for a long, long time."

The rail dispute means fans are having to think up new ways of getting to matches to cheer their teams.

Earlier, 5 Live heard from a Brighton fan who who was up at 5am to get a cab to a service station so he could catch a coach for an eight-hour journey to Middlesbrough to make kick-off at 3pm. He is not expected to get home until the early hours of tomorrow morning.

At least five Premier League clubs are going to get knocked out in this round.

Sides will be thinking 'hang on, we could go deep'. Tottenham will be thinking they can go deep.

They've got a great squad, a good attack and in a one-off game they can beat anyone. They've got the firepower to do that.

If they get home ties it will be very tough to beat them.

There's some filthy weather out there - perfect conditions for an upset or two.

But there won't be one happening today at League One Forest Green who were set to host Championship side Birmingham.

That tie, which was due to kick-off at 12:30 GMT, has fallen foul of the weather.

Wrexham, owned by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, are appearing in the third round for the first time since 2015.

Second in the National League, the Welsh side are at Championship club Coventry City, winners in 1986-87. It is the first competitive meeting between the clubs since 1994.

Wrexham forward Paul Mullin has scored five FA Cup goals this season.

Chesterfield, third in the National League, are also making an appearance in the third round for the second successive season.

The Spireites lost 5-1 at Chelsea, then European champions, this time last year.

The Derbyshire club, managed by former Wolves midfielder Paul Cook, have beaten League Two Northampton Town and AFC Wimbledon on their way to setting up an attractive home tie with five-time winners West Brom.

It is the first time Chesterfield and West Brom have met in a competitive fixture since 1948.

National League Boreham Wood were one of the stories of last season's FA Cup and they are at it again this season as one of three non-league teams to make it to the third round.

They went further than any other team outside the top two tiers of English football last season, beating League One AFC Wimbledon and Championship side Bournemouth on their way to the fifth round, where they lost at Everton.

Luke Garrard's side are enjoying another fine run and host League One Accrington Stanley for a place in the fourth round.

Boreham Wood, 13th in the fifth tier of English football and the lowest-ranked club left in the competition, will be confident of claiming another Football League scalp after winning at League One Bristol Rovers in the last round.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag believes Marcus Rashford can carry on scoring providing he maintains his present focus.

Rashford took his tally for the season to 13 with an injury-time penalty as United overcame a determined Everton outfit in the FA Cup at Old Trafford.

The England man has now scored in five successive games for the first time.

"Marcus has fantastic skills and when he has that mental stability he can keep going," said Dutchman Ten Hag.

In addition to his penalty, Rashford claimed the assists for United's opening two goals.

He crossed for Antony's third-minute effort and then beat Seamus Coleman before teasing Conor Coady into putting the ball into his own net as United won the third-round tie 3-1.

Rashford is now just nine goals off his best ever tally in 2019-20 and Ten Hag feels the 25-year-old can continue this form.

Marcus Rashford scored for a fifth successive game as Manchester United claimed a deserved FA Cup victory at Old Trafford.

Everton were applauded off by their travelling support for showing admirable character, after their side suffered the shock of going behind after just three minutes when Antony turned home Rashford's far-post cross but had the character to fight back.

Conor Coady rammed home a 13th-minute equaliser when David de Gea calamitously allowed Neal Maupay's apparently harmless cross to roll though his legs as he appeared to think it was about to hit the outside of his post.

Even after Alex Iwobi was stretchered off in obvious pain after he suffered an ankle injury in a tackle with Tyrell Malacia, Lampard's players continued to battle hard.

But once some brilliant approach play from Rashford had deceived Coady into turning the forward's cross into his own net, the visitors' character alone was not enough.

And after Dominic Calvert-Lewin had a goal ruled out for offside, man-of-the-match Rashford kept his nerve to beat England international team-mate Jordan Pickford from the spot deep into injury time to score for the fifth successive game for the first time in his club career.

League Two's bottom club Gillingham host 2020-21 winners Leicester City on Saturday (12:30 GMT) in the first of three live games on BBC One over the weekend.

BBC One is also showing Newcastle United at League One Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday (18:00) and Chelsea - who have reached four of the past five finals - at Manchester City on Sunday (16:30).

All these games will also be on BBC iPlayer, along with Tottenham-Portsmouth on Saturday at 12:30 and Aston Villa-Stevenage on Sunday at 16:30, which are on the Red Button as well.

Gillingham are captained by Shaun Williams who was part of the Millwall team that beat Leicester in the FA Cup in 2017.

Substitute Olly Lee is the son of former Newcastle and England midfielder Rob.

Eight changes for Leicester from the side that started the 1-0 home defeat to Fulham on Tuesday.

The three survivors are Youri Tielemans, Ayoze Perez and Jamie Vardy.

Despite making eight changes it's still a strong line-up for Tottenham with both Harry Kane and Son Heung-min starting.

Kane and Son as well as Bryan Gill are the only three players to keep their place from the Spurs side that beat Crystal Palace 4-0 last time out.

Managerless Portsmouth make four changes to the side that lost 3-1 to Charlton in League One last time out.

But it's the same back five for Pompey.
