  1. 'A free shot'published at 15:02 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2023

Aston Villa v Stevenage (16:30 GMT)

Stevenage manager Steve Evans is relishing the chance to visit "one of the Premier League's iconic football clubs" after the League Two side defeated Gateshead and King's Lynn in previous rounds.

Evans, who extended his contract on Saturday, said: "I've been before to Villa Park and taken teams there. There'll be a tremendous crowd from both sides, with our big travelling support, so it's a free shot for us, but we're looking forward to it."

  3. 'Clinical from Cardiff'published at 14:58 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2023

    HT: Cardiff 2-0 Leeds

Former Wales defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Cardiff have been clinical. The first real opportunity they had and they score. Once Cardiff City were able to get a foothold in that game, get a bit of that team understanding, it has looked quite fluid.

They grew into the first half and the first goal gave the team a lot of confidence. To get the second is an absolute bonus.

Leeds haven't really worked the Cardiff City goalkeeper. Defensively, the two goals that Leeds have conceded were really poor. That'd why they find themselves behind in this game.

  6. HALF-TIMEpublished at 14:54 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2023

    Norwich 0-1 Blackburn

An absolute gift of a goal has Blackburn ahead at the interval at Carrow Road with Jack Vale punishing some real defensive dithering from the Canaries.

Ben Brereton Diaz has also gone close on a couple of occasions for the visitors while the nearest Norwich came was a Gabriel Sara shot that was well saved by Rovers keeper Aynsley Pears.

Important first half-time team-talk ahead for new Norwich gaffer David Wagner.

Dean: If Bielsa got sacked with his Leeds team performances, then surely Jesse is in trouble, we have not kicked on under him, too many errors and no fight, So frustrating.

  9. HALF-TIMEpublished at 14:51 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2023

    Hartlepool 0-2 Stoke

Job half done for Championship side Stoke.

Euan Murray's own goal and Jacob Brown's cool finish have rewarded a fairly dominant opening 45 minutes for the Potters.

  10. HALF-TIMEpublished at 14:50 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2023

    Stockport 0-0 Walsall

Goalless at the break in the all-League Two tie.

Walsall have shaded proceedings with County keeper Ben Hinchliffe producing excellent saves to thwart Douglas James-Taylor and Isaac Hutchinson.

Credit to both sets of supporters in this one as well - Edgeley Park is sold out for what, with all respect, is hardly a glamour tie for either club.

There were some very loud boos from the away end as that half-time whistle went.

  12. HALF-TIMEpublished at 14:48 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2023

    Cardiff 2-0 Leeds

Leeds boss Jesse Marsch said before this game that the club wanted a Cup run. It hasn't looked like it on this evidence. They've been dire, especially at the back.

They've gifted Cardiff two goals and have a big 45 minutes ahead of them.

The Bluebirds will be utterly delighted with their efforts.

  13. Postpublished at 14:45 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2023

    GOAL - Hartlepool 0 Stoke 2published at 14:44 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2023

    Jacob Brown

Chances of a shock in the north-east are looking pretty slim.

Jacob Brown races clear to round Hartlepool keeper Ben Killip before slotting home to double Stoke's lead. A long way back now for the underdogs.

There have been some good link up from the Leeds front four. They have caused Cardiff City a lot of problems with their movement and their pace.

    Leeds are almost in!

Joe Gelhardt does well to hold off his marker before playing a ball to set Brenden Aaronson scurrying in on goal. Cardiff keeper Jak Alnwick is out quickly, though, to clear.

  19. Postpublished at 14:40 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2023

    Cardiff 2-0 Leeds

Wilfried Gnonto really shouldn't be able to win a header from a corner. But this is exactly what he does.

He should do a lot better too, but flashes his effort over the bar from close range.

  20. Postpublished at 14:38 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2023

    Cardiff 2-0 Leeds

Joel Bagan goes for an effort from range as the ball is fed to him. He doesn't catch it right at all, though, and the ball drifts off target.
