    James Ward-Prowse

The goals are flying in! Che Adams nods down a long ball and James Ward-Prowse's touch is brilliant. It takes him inside the defender in the box before he coolly beats Jordan Pickford.

Whatever Nathan Jones had to say at half-time worked.

GOAL - Wolves 1-0 West Hampublished at 16:05 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January 2023

    Daniel Podence

Daniel Podence gets his fifth goal of the season and Wolves are bouncing in this must-win match.

West Ham don't get numbers back as a deflected cross falls to Podence who fires home with a first-time effort, low into the bottom corner.

It's only Wolves' 12th Premier League goal this season, but it could be crucial.

    Solly March (46 mins)

Brighton finally get the goal they have deserved!

It's a poor touch from Joel Matip and Alexis Mac Allister nips in. It's poked through to Kaoru Mitoma and he sets up Solly March from close range.

Barely a minute or so after kicking off for the second half and Brighton have the lead.

Gene Mudi: Safe to say that Chelsea’s best defender this season is the one on loan at Brighton.

    HT: Brighton 0-0 Liverpool

Moises Caicedo has been everywhere once again for Brighton, helping to isolate Liverpool's attack and cut off the supply to them, but maintaining Brighton's own pressure going forward.

Ian: Liverpool’s entire midfield is just too slow and dysfunctional now and that is why game after game we are getting taken apart by teams with more skilful and energetic midfield players!!

Simon: I agree with Paul (15.45). Liverpool need a new style of play, the high tempo/high press football is old hat now. Teams have had a few seasons to work out how to counter it. The midfield is not at the quality we need to link up play from defence to attack!

  11. 'I had no confidence City would hold on at 1-0'published at 15:57 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January 2023

FT: Man Utd 2-1 Man City

    Martin Keown
Former England defender on BBC Final Score

The problem for City is that they go in front and now they can't see it through. I watched it today, they were 1-0 up and I had no confidence that they were going to keep a clean sheet. That is the end of the pitch where they need to get better.

They're not as emphatic in front of goal anymore but they're always susceptible to concede. Losing that will really hurt them.

"Ooh na na, what's my name" - the sound of Rhianna blasts out of the speaks as Everton's players headed down the tunnel to applause from the home fans, who are in buoyant mood thanks to Amadou Onana's goal.

To emphasise just how big that goal could be Everton are currently moving out of the bottom three and up to 14th.

The game was nervy and low on quality up until Onana struck but after that you could sense the confidence surging through the Everton players and they were not far off a second through Alex Iwobi.

  13. 'Brighton's system is causing Liverpool big problems'published at 15:56 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January 2023

    HT: Brighton 0-0 Liverpool

    Danny Gabbidon
Former Wales defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

The Liverpool forwards have had no service at all. Mo Salah has done a couple of good runs but he has had no support - the service to the forwards has been poor.

I've been very impressed with Brighton. Their possession is good, their system is causing Liverpool so much problems with the high wingers, because the full backs can't go forward.

  14. 'I wasn't involved in the play'published at 15:55 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January 2023

FT: Man Utd 2-1 Man City

    Manchester United

Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford on the controversial equaliser: "I thought I went a bit early so I didn't run. If I ran for the ball I would have just took it or shot or passed. I thought I was offside so I didn't touch the ball.

"That's all I can do in that situation and then it's up to the referee and linesman. In my opinion I wasn't involved in the play. I felt like it should have stood."

Lukas Lammie: I just don't see any effort in the press that Liverpool have executed so well in recent years! Brighton have the space to do anything they want, Liverpool have a lot of work to do if they want anything from this season.

Tom McCarron: Absolutely appalling from Liverpool. Can't get on the ball let alone keep it, Brighton the far superior team and should be up. Lucky it is still 0-0.

  16. 'I wouldn't be happy if we conceded Fernandes' goal'published at 15:54 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January 2023

FT: Man Utd 2-1 Man City

    Manchester United

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag talking to BBC Match of the Day: "We have seen it all season, there is fight and spirit in this team. They can deal with setbacks and today is another example that the can deal with it. City became stronger and stronger after a strong first half from us. The first 30 minutes of the second half was difficult for us, Rodri was too involved and playing between the lines, Walker specially. It became difficult. We could not deal with it. We had the spirit and kept believing in a good result. I have to value that and credit the team. They got the reward by winning an important game."

On the first-half performance: "We played a really good first half. We were organised and tactically it was really well done from the team. We were proactive, had a good block and pressed forward in the right moments. We created the most and best moments."

On the changes made after going behind: "We had to take off Anthony Martial at half time and we had a stage of Antony as a striker which didn't work out, he's better on the right. Bruno Fernandes was brilliant in the first half, both in and out of possession. That is why we were one on one in the striker position. I wanted to change it just before the goal to bring Bruno into the centre. After we change we had more control of the game."

On the equaliser: "I could see on the other side that it confused the backline, that was clear. It is also the rule. I wouldn't be happy if it was my team as well if we conceded a goal like this. I can see the disappointment in the other side, but I can also see the referee did well."

On their recent run and whether this win says the most about where United could go: "It is a process. We are making progress. The wins over arsenal and Liverpool were hard, we created a lot of chances and we escaped. We fought back here, in the other two tames we went up. There is still a long way to go. We are happy with the result, it will give us even more belief. If we want to be successful we have to improve a lot more than we are now."

  17. 'The equaliser is a joke'published at 15:52 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January 2023

FT: Man Utd 2-1 Man City

    Manchester City

Manchester City defender Manuel Akanji talking to BBC Match of the Day: "To be honest the first goal is a joke, that is allowed like this. I saw Rashford, he was clearly offside, so I played him offside. He runs until the last second and he stops when the ball is in front of him and he's right in front of Eddy, ready to score the goal, because Bruno Fernandes is shouting him.

"I understand he doesn't touch the ball but he's running for 30 metres and until the last second. For me it is clearly offside. The referee doesn't even look at the situation, it got explained at the start of the year this would be clearly offside."

Asked if Marcus Rashford prevented them a tackle: "Yes."

There is an awful lot at stake. Forest have gone really well so they are grinding out games. This is what we are talking about: game management. I actually think Forest are looking like a Premier League team.
