Marc Cucurella has gone to ground with an injury.

It looks like he was just caught by Mo Salah as he attempted a flicked pass.

This will bring a brief break in play.

When everything is working as it should for an elite team, the passes are into feet, the movement slick, the chances flow from it.

Liverpool are trying to find that but you can see they are struggling. James Milner underlines that by having to turn back instead of charging forward into space. He slips and is almost robbed to allow a Chelsea attack.

It's very subdued inside Anfield at the moment. Whether it's the early kick-off or the respective Premier League positions, this currently does not look or feel like a game between Liverpool and Chelsea.

    Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea

It's all a bit of a scramble in the middle of the pitch. Chelsea try to bully their way in but Liverpool hold out.

Conor Gallagher then fires an effort from range that is straight at Alisson.

It's not very pretty, but the Blues are on top at the moment.

Richard: "Klopp has done okay..." says Shaun. He is the first Liverpool manager to win the league in THIRTY years. He won Liverpool's sixth Champions League and got to two more finals. And, yet, you'd trade him for a manager who won nothing with the club? Utter madness.

Stevie: Shaun at 12:46 is a Chelsea fan on the wind up, isn't he? 'Brendan' isn't in Klopp's league.

Dave: Shaun in London....you okay mate?

    Oh, close!

Kai Havertz and then Mason Mount are desperately seeking a yard to fire a shot on goal from inside the Liverpool box, but it does not come.

Mount taps the ball wide for Lewis Hall, who whips a shot across the face of goal.

It is a cue for some exasperation from the home fans.

    Cody Gakpo again!

He robs Lewis Hall of the ball and then turns on goal. He leans back, though, and fires his effort well over.

That's two he's punted over the bar now.

In the World Cup and before that at PSV he was firing those in for fun.

Another fired Chelsea ball forward towards Kai Havertz is just a bit too heavy and runs top Alisson. The Blues have tried that pumped ball a few times to try and catch out Ibrahima Konate.

James Milner has to whip out a superbly-timed sliding tackle to stop Chelsea getting in on goal. It all comes from Liverpool being a bit too complacent in midfield.

Lifelong Liverpool fan, and I would take Brendan back in a heartbeat. Klopp has done okay, but can't help but feel this was Brendan's team when he was winning, and as they age, Klopp can't update the team to suit.

It's all a bit broken and disjointed at the moment. Two sides lacking in confidence, trying to play their way back into some form.

Mike: If Havertz was behind Silva when he hit how can Havertz be offside?

Matt: Commentators and officials don’t know the offside rule!! Havertz was behind the ball when Silva kicked it!

Mike: Defies belief that we have VAR and the official in charge of the review still calls it wrongly. As the ball was played, no part of any Chelsea player was offside, and Havertz who scored was behind the ball when it was played on to the post. Utter incompetence for me.

You can sense the nervousness in the Liverpool side at the moment.

They used to burst out of the blocks here and immediately put sides on the back foot. In these early stages, they're still trying to get a feel of it. Passes are a tad over-hit, touches just a fraction heavy.

Chelsea just a little bit sharper to the ball in these early stages. Kai Havertz nips in to get the ball ahead of James Milner to set away another Blues attack that is ended by too deep a cross from the right.

Bit of a waste in the end.

Chelsea may have had the goal ruled out but it has given them plenty of encouragement. They try to get in again but a chipped ball forward goes out of play down the right.

Liverpool's first chance falls to Cody Gakpo, who fires over following Mo Salah's ball into the box.

    It will not stand!

Kai Havertz has wandered offside so that when Thiago's shot comes back to him his effort cannot stand.

    A let off for Liverpool.
