Liverpool are really struggling.

Andy Robertson fires a ball back to Alisson under pressure and the Reds goalkeeper slices his attempted clearance for a corner.

This sums it up for Liverpool.

Naby Keita chips a ball wide right for Mo Salah. He has defenders in front of him, but we've seen the Egyptian cut inside and fire in from here so many times.

On this occasion, he takes a touch and then slices his shot high and wide.

Oh, risky!

A cross from the left from Harvey Elliott is a good one, into the box with Chelsea scrambling. Thiago Silva takes a big chance, but one he has to take, by heading the ball and flicking it past Kepa and wide for a corner.

The resulting delivery drops into the Chelsea box but the away side get lucky as Jorginho buys a free-kick amidst a host of hacking Reds players.

I don't say this wishing to anger fans of either side, but this has looked like a game between ninth and tenth in the division.

Liverpool try to bring some quality to it, but Mo Salah's pass into the middle for Andy Robertson is just steered away from the attacking full-back and to Kepa by a deflection.

Robertson has been the home side's most advanced player in recent minutes.

Paul: Once again it's obvious to everyone that Liverpool's midfield is the problem. Can't pass, can't run. Getting bullied. It's the same every week.

Andy: Liverpool can't keep the ball. Have they had more successful pass completions to a Chelsea player than Chelsea have?

Callum: I don't think Liverpool are struggling because Mane has gone. We just haven't got legs in midfield. We didn't replace Wijnaldum.

Liverpool try to keep the pressure up.

Mo Salah's attempt at a volley is completely fluffed but they retain possession, setting up Thiago on the edge of the box for a shot that takes a deflection straight into the grasp of Kepa.

Nope.

James Milner's delivery is headed away by Lewis Hall and then hammered down field by a Blues team-mate.

Liverpool win a corner. Can they make something from this?

Liverpool keep undoing any good work deeper in the pitch with a really poor pass in the Chelsea half.

Better from Liverpool! But the final ball is poor.

Harvey Elliott and Cody Gakpo do well to set Andy Robertson free on the edge of the box, but his low pass into the middle is straight to a man in Blue.

More sloppy play from Liverpool.

They give the ball away in their own half and Stefan Bajcetic is shown a yellow card for a sliding foul on Lewis Hall.

Another Chelsea free-kick is flicked on and wide by Kai Havertz.

The home fans are unhappy. They can see that this is not going their team's way at all.

What a ball into the box this is! The free-kick is whipped into the box by Hakim Ziyech, right in behind the defenders and in front of Alisson.

Benoit Badiashile is there first, looking for his first Chelsea goal, but his header is palmed away well by Alisson.

Sean: Tedious fare from Anfield so far. These two clubs are midtable for a reason.

Tom: Watching this match is like watching two lions fighting but they have no teeth. It’s very concerning that both these teams just seem to be missing something and it doesn’t seem like a problem you can solve just by throwing money at it.

Paul: Teams rise and fall which is good for the Premier League. I get the impression we are watching two teams in decline at the moment while Arsenal may be on the rise.

Darwin Nunez sits on the bench, arms folded, hood up, chewing furiously on some gum. He's stewing, waiting for his chance to get unleashed on this game.

The Reds forwards haven't offered much without him so far.
