  1. 'It did look like a penalty'published at 17:24 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

    FT: Leicester 2-2 Brighton

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton striker Evan Ferguson: "I think we deserved a point. We were the better team. They set off and we had to break Leicester down. I think that's a compliment to us and the way we are playing at the minute to come away where Leicester are playing at home and to have them set off is a huge compliment. Lucky to get a point today."

On the penalty shout: "I think the way we play, we are always going to create chances. I haven't seen the penalty shout yet, so I am not sure. However, it did look like a penalty. Solly March was unlucky and he's been on some form at the minute. I think we allow him for that one, but now it's just good to get a point here.

"I am just trying my best and when I get the chance from the gaffer, I am just trying to do my job and seems to be going well at the minute. I think the manager has the same message for everyone - everyone knows when they go on the pitch on what they need to do for each position and keep going even though we conceded before I came on, so we was just to try and get a goal to get back into the game."

Crystal Palace v Newcastle (17:30 GMT)

Crystal Palace have won only two of their 11 Premier League home games against Newcastle (D4, L5).

This will be a third meeting of the season between these two teams in all competitions - the previous two have finished goalless.

Patrick Vieira's side are on 23 points from their first 19 fixtures - exactly the same record as at this stage of each of the previous two campaigns.

Newcastle are looking to set a club record of 15 top-flight matches without defeat (W9, D5).

Eddie Howe's side have conceded just 11 goals, the fewest of any other team in the Premier League, while their 11 clean sheets is also the most in the division.

  3. 'We have to think about the next game'published at 17:22 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

    FT: Southampton 0-1 Aston Villa

    Southampton

Southampton midfielder Ibrahima Diallo speaking to Premier League Productions: "We had a chance to win this game but it's football so we have to think about next game."

On if he's seen a replay of the VAR decision yet: "Not yet, that's the referee's decision so we have to accept it."

On their second-half improvements: "We started well in the second half. I think it was a good game for us but we have to do better for the next game."

On having lots of games coming up soon: "We have to use this game to work on it. It's a lot of games but we have a lot of good players on the team so it's a chance for everybody to play and show a reaction."

  4. 'Bruno said he felt 100%'published at 17:21 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

Crystal Palace v Newcastle (17:30 GMT)

    Newcastle United

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe on the decision to start Bruno Guimaraes: "The scan was good. We took it day by day and saw how he felt. He trained yesterday and said he felt 100%. I wouldn't have risked him for the future but the medical team and Bruno both said he was ready.

"It's a big boost. He's a key player for us. He's been excellent this season - helping with creativity and defensive solidity."

On whether they have discussed a potential club-record 15 top-flight games unbeaten: "Not at all. We have to focus on our performance rather than any external distractions.

"The team solidity we've shown, all the players, subs incluced, everyone is committed to that process. You know you'll need to show your character at Crystal Palace.

"They have been tight games [against Palace this season]. We felt we dominated the league game and should have won. Today will be a different game here. We need to stamp our authority."

  5. 'Palace are impossible to predict'published at 17:20 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

Newcastle were a bit fortunate on Sunday, when Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic slipped to miskick his penalty with the score at 0-0 before the Magpies nicked it late on.

It is things like that which make you think it is going to be their season, in terms of a top-four finish, especially when you consider how strong they are defensively.

This is another tough test for them, though. As I keep saying, Palace are impossible to predict - but they are generally a bit better when they take on the teams at the top of the table.

Newcastle will be without injured midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, who has been such a star for them, and they might have to settle for a point this time.

    Prediction: 1-1

  6. 'We had a real spirit today'published at 17:19 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

    FT: Leicester 2-2 Brighton

    Leicester City

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers for BBC Match of the Day: "Should have been a win, obviously disappointed with that but the overall game. Delighted for the players in terms of the game plan and the game. We nullified them. I thought the players did that excellently. I'm pleased with that. We were the better team in the first half, we gave away the ball cheaply and then their guy scores a fantastic goal. But the players showed great spirit to get back into it.

"Evan Ferguson who is a fantastic player, scores a really good goal. From our perspective he drifted into an area that we should probably cover. But overall it's disappointing not to get the win. We worked really hard for it but lots of really good signs.

"In terms of battling performance, we are nowhere near the level where I want us to be with the ball. James Maddison is coming back and some of the other players back and hopefully a few in which allows us to be better in possession of the ball. I have been saying it for a long time, we gave it up really easily which is frightening, especially at this level.

"What we had today was a real spirit and a mentality. I think the supporters would have seen that so in terms of that side and that aspect, we put a marker down for the rest of the season in terms of what we have to do in terms of our fight and mentality."

  8. 'We were miles better second half'published at 17:17 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

    FT: Bournemouth 1-1 Nottingham Forest

    Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper, speaking to Sky Sports: "It is a point away from home in the premier league and that should never be taken for granted. I think we did OK in the game. I didn't like some of the moments we gave Bournemouth in the first half, including the goal. It came from nothing really, and a couple of free headers they had in the box. There were moments when we needed to compete more and times when it was clear, with all due respect, that Bournemouth were on edge. Second half we were miles the better team and looked a good team, to be honest. I felt we would get a goal and am just a bit disappointed we didn't get it earlier. But four games unbeaten and a point away from home, coming back, we have to be happy with our work.

"In the Championship, draws can kill you a little bit, but in the Premier League they can be more important. There was a lot of good things in the second half and players playing for the first time who did well. It is a new team but showing togetherness to get out of a somewhat difficult situation. getting something from the game was more than deserved. If anything I thought we would go on and win it. We will take the point and move on.

"The reason we wanted Chris Wood in is the profile he has, as he occupies defenders and frees up space for the likes of Brennan Johnson and Morgan Gibbs-White. He will get move service and more crosses and play around him. I thought it was important to throw him in, get the kit on and feel the away support. We are pleased he is here. We know he will do well and will be better for today.

"Ryan Yates wasn't feeling too good in the game so we didn't want to take any risks. You need to play with everybody at 100% in this league. It got Danilo on the pitch and he looks a really good player."

  9. 'We controlled the game well'published at 17:15 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

    FT: Southampton 0-1 Aston Villa

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa goalscorer Ollie Watkins speaking to Premier League Productions: "I think they are the games last year or earlier in the season we would've lost or maybe drawn. It's massive we can come away from a scrappy game and get three points.

"I think we controlled the game well, picked up second balls where before we'd been struggling. I thought we caused them problems. I thought it was a good display from us today."

On scoring from a set piece: "I've not scored from a set piece this season so it was nice to do that and hopefully I can get some momentum and get some goals.

On if there's extra pressure after Danny Ings' departure: "There's always pressure when you're playing for a massive club like Villa. It's a shame [he's left] but I'm willing to take the responsibility and be the main striker. I'm relishing it."

    FT: Bournemouth 1-1 Nottingham Forest

    Bournemouth

Bournemouth goalscorer Jaidon Anthony, speaking to Premier League Productions: "Every point in this league is vital. It’s not exactly what we wanted but we’ll take it and go from there."

On his goal: "Dango Ouattara kept getting in down that side and it was about breaking into the box and keeping my composure. Thankfully, I did that and could put it away. Dango has only has one training session so far and I’m sure he’ll be an exciting player for us.

"There is a lot we can improve on, we've got some new players and stuff like that. We’ve not got a game for a while now, though, so we can get to the training ground and keep working."

  12. 'I could not have asked for a better weekend'published at 17:09 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

    FT: West Ham 2-0 Everton

    West Ham United

West Ham goalscorer Jarrod Bowen to Premier League Productions: "Its massive. We have been disappointed with how we have been playing and the position we are it. But it is down to us. We got into this position and it is up to us to drag us out of it. Today it was really important to put in a good performance, lift the fans and put smiles back on people's faces.

"Today was a massive game, we knew what was a stake and now it is about building on it. Of course there is pressure but it was down ot us to get that first goal and get the fans cheering again."

On his celebration: "We broke the news last night that we are having twins. Since we found out it has been hard to keep it away from everyone but to release it last night and score today was really special. I could not have asked for a better weekend."

    James Collins
Former West Ham defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

A high pressure game and a deserved win for West Ham.

David Moyes should be really proud. You've got to be worried for Everton; they look dejected and it'll be hard for Frank Lampard to turn it around.

Not many players are clapping the fans. That is a really worrying sign.
