  5. 'Big performance and could be a big point'published at 17:34 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

    FT: Bournemouth 1-1 Nottingham Forest

    Bournemouth

Bournemouth manager Gary O’Neil, speaking to Sky Sports: “I thought it was a good game, I thought we had the better chances but they had more of the ball second half.

"We looked at threat on the break but all in all, with the injuries we have, it was a big performance and it could be a big point.

"The players gave everything. Dango [Ouattara] had an incredible first game for us. He brought what we’ve been lacking, some pace and he can be direct and get in behind. I thought he was excellent, as were some of the other lads.

"I'm disappointed because the boys worth their socks off, you’re looking at a big three points and end up with one."

On good play down the wings: "We did a lot of work this week on overlaps, that worked well and we got some good chances with cut backs and crosses. It was just a shame we couldn’t convert one.

On the defensive effort: "We looked solid and that’s why I’m disappointed we didn’t get the clean sheet. Just disappointed that one little slip ends up costing the boys two points. It stops a run of losses, though, and it two weeks time there will be a lot of work done with the boys and some new additions as well."

On injuries: "I hope some of them will be be back for next week and the others won't be too far behind. It was tough game against an in-form side, they invested heavily in the summer and are on a good run. For large parts, though. I thought we were the better side."

  6. 'A tough game and a difficult match'published at 17:33 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

    FT: Southampton 0-1 Aston Villa

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery: "A tough game and a difficult match. I think we played very good in the first 45 minutes, keeping calm, trying not to concede chances. There were not a lot of chances [for us] but the chances were very good.

"The challenge was to continue being consistent in the second half. We were not like the first half because they were pushing back.

"I think after the work the players did we deserved [the win] because we were competing very, very well. We are keeping confident with the players we have.

"The players we have are the key to keep this mentality."

On Southampton's goal being overturned by VAR: "I respect 100% the VAR. I didn't move one hand when the refere was watching it for us or for them. If he decided then I am of course accepting it. Today it is for us, sometimes it will be against us."

On if there's more pressure on Ollie Watkins after Danny Ings' departure: "It's very good pressure for him. I think he will want this pressure. We are of course looking for something in the transfer window but we are only going to add a player if it can really, really improve the squad. Some players are going to leave, sure, and we want to add players in the squad as well to add some skills, some capacities, improving the squad."

  8. 'Important to stop the rot'published at 17:32 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

    FT: Leicester 2-2 Brighton

    Leicester City

Leicester City winger Marc Albrighton speaking to Premier League Productions:

"Mixed emotions in the dressing room. We got ourselves in a great position with the second goal. The pressure that they put on us in the second half, it was always going to be difficult to keep that lead. They're a really good side, put us under a lot of pressure and I think the spirit and the fight was there for us today. Just disappointing to concede so late on.

"It's difficult, with the way that they play, you have got to be wary as well. A lot of the teams they have beaten and beaten comfortably are teams that have come out and pressed them and chased to try and get the ball back and they have just picked them off and broke through them and that happened once or twice in the first half occasionally but other that, as far as the game plan goes, I don't think we could have done it any better up until right at the end where obviously we should probably deal with the goal better.

On scoring his goal: "It's been a long time since I've scored a Premier League goal. My family come to every game regardless. My mum and dad are always here. Home and away they have supported me since I was young so to repay them with a Premier League goal was the least I could do."

"It was important to stop the rot and make sure we didn't lose the game. That was the main importance today."

  10. Everton players are 'fighting' for Lampardpublished at 17:30 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

    FT: West Ham 2-0 Everton

    Everton

Everton forward Alex Iwobi tells Sky Sports: "We were unfortunate not to get the result, we keep pushing but it wasn't our day. If we don't take our chances we will get punished.

"We discussed about getting on top of them because they are in the same situation as us but unfortunately it was not the case.

"The ownership is on us as a team, we attack and defend together. We still have half the season left and a lot of improvement to do.

"Frank Lampard made a few changes after the break, told us to keep pushimg and be more dynamic.

"(Pressure) is nothing new to us, we were in the same situation last season. We have a break coming up and we have to regroup.

"It is not just the manager who takes responsibility, the players are fighting for him and the club."

  12. 'We were dominant in the second half'published at 17:30 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

    FT: Bournemouth 1-1 Nottingham Forest

    Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest head coach Steve Cooper, speaking to BBC: "Draw was fair just because of the way we played first half, we gave Bournemouth too many easy moments.

"We know we could have done better and at this level you run the risk of conceding if you don't. Second half we were much better, totally dominant and it was only a matter of time until we scored. Thankfully we did.

"You have to look at the positives, we've come back from 1-0 down away from home. Second half I thought we were more than good for a point. If anyone deserved to win, it was us."

On improved second half performance: "There were moments in the game where we didn't compete well enough. You always have to compete and fight. Keiffer Moore is a handful, you have to deal with that threat.

"We took it for granted at moments in the first half and didn't compete but we sorted that out at half-time, competed much better and played much better. We'll take the point and move on.

"We've got to keep looking at the growth of the team. We'll look at performances then goals you score and concede. But we have to look deeper than that. I think we looked a superior team to Bournemouth, I mean that with respect, but it is nice to be able to say that."

On Sam Surridge: "He got booed when he came on against his old club. We've got so much respect for Sam. It's off the bench at the moment but he's really having an impact for us. He's got a great attitude, it's good that he got his goal. He deserves that."

On Chris Wood: "He would have liked to have been involved a bit more bit we saw his presence can occupy defenders. He created space for others. It's been a whirlwind for him, lot of travelling and straight into the team., He's a presence both on and off the pitch.

"Danilo was excellent. Even more of a whirlwind coming from Brazil. It was good putting him on and I thought he was excellent."

  13. 'Hugely important'published at 17:29 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

    FT: West Ham 2-0 Everton

    West Ham United

West Ham manager David Moyes to BBC Match of the Day: "It was needed. We've not been in the best run of form but three points today was hugely important.

"We have not scored the goals and if you are on a run like that it can be very difficult. Defensively we have been OK, but it is our goalscoring which is a problem. Today we got a couple of goals which made a huge difference."

On the pressure on himself going into the game: "I've been pretty cool about. I have had great support from the board, they are keen for me to stay and do well. We have changed a lot of players, a decision we took in March last year. The change has been difficult but the new players given a bit of time will help and become really good players here."

On Jarrod Bowen: "Jarrod probably felt disappointed he didn't make the World Cup squad, we have missed his goals badly. We see him as a goalscorer and he proved that today. I think he is someone who could turn into a centre-forward in time. But today I was really pleased he got a couple of goals for us."

On the relegation battle: "There's a bundle of teams down there and it can chop and change. I believe we should be further up the league by what we have done but we've just not scored the goals. But having Danny Ings come in, who has a pretty good record, if he can get us goals I think we will find ourselves moving up."

On Everton: "It was a difficult day for me as I'm really keen that Everton get away from their position. I had a great time there. I wanted to celebrate as we needed a win but behind it all I have a lot of feelings for Frank and for Everton."

  14. 'We have got new ambitions'published at 17:29 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

    FT: Leicester 2-2 Brighton

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton striker Evan Ferguson speaking to MOTD: "That's our job, we try to come on and try to play, we try to score a goal. There is no better feeling, so I can try to come on and do the same thing.

"I think with a team like this, there is always going to be chances and you just have to be in the right place and have the right movement to get your chance. I was lucky to be in the right place. It was a very good delivery. Previously from that side, Pervis Estupinan does the delivery on the some of the balls so it is just about being there at the right time and get the ball at the back of the net.

"We always have a chance to win in the way we play and the way the gaffer tell us. We always have belief, so there was not a moment where we think the game is lost and we always have the fighting chance.

"We have got new ambitions. The new gaffer comes in and we have taken his ideas really well. We are all on board on what he says and he's very good with us."

  15. 'I don't think I have more responsibility'published at 17:28 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

    FT: Southampton 0-1 Aston Villa

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa goalsorer Ollie Watkins speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "Second half, both teams came out quickly, high energy. The ball was getting turned over quite a few times from both teams. That's what happens, it gets frantic a little bit and you have to cope. We got lucky with a VAR decision I think but after that we pushed on."

On his goal: "From a set-piece, a great ball. I've just headed it into the ground and it's nice to score from a set-piece, we work on it a lot."

On if there's added responsibility after Danny Ings' departure: "I don't think so too much. I loved playing with him, I thought we played well together, to be honest. It's a shame to see him go because he's such a great lad and a good player. I don't feel any more responsibility. As a striker there's one thing you need to do and that's score goals. I'm working on it, staying calm, and I took my opportunity today. I work hard every day to put the ball in the back of the net and I'll keep doing that."

  16. 'I don't think about my future'published at 17:27 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

    FT: West Ham 2-0 Everton

    West Ham United

West Ham manager David Moyes to Sky Sports, discussing his future: "I don't think about it too much. There are games you will be under pressure and today felt like a pressure game.

"I have had great support from the board and I thank them again, you never know in this game what is going to happen."

  17. 'I'll take my chance when I get it'published at 17:27 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

    FT: Bournemouth 1-1 Nottingham Forest

    Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest goalscorer Sam Surridge, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "It is a special moment [scoring his first Premier League goal] and against a former club. It is somewhere that I grew up. I feel like it was almost meant to be.

"For whatever reason they decided to boo me. It is one of them. I spent a lot of years here. But I knew I would get a goal today. I felt it. You don't hear the boos much when you are out there, you just focus on the game.

"I looked across and felt it might be just my luck that I was offside. I knew it was tight. As I was running back the assistant manager said to get back because it was off and that ruined it a little bit. But it was all good.

"As a striker, you are always going to come up against competition, but everyone that comes in is pushing towards the same goal. I am no different and whenever I get my chance I will take it."

  19. 'Thankfully it got disallowed'published at 17:26 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

    FT: Southampton 0-1 Aston Villa

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey, speaking to Premier League Productions: "A scrappy win. The pitch wasn't great today. I thought first half we dominated. The first five minutes they came out well in the second have. A great five points."

On Ollie Watkins scoring from a set piece: "We work really hard in training on set pieces. Before the game Austin [MacPhee, set piece coach] said we haven't scored a cross or a corner yet. Today was the day so it's good."

On Southampton's goal being disallowed: "My opinion was that I was going to head the ball and he's caught my ankle. I felt it was enough to go down. Thank god for VAR. Thankfully it got disallowed.

"If he didn't touch my ankle I was going to clear the ball, so I'd say [it was a clear and obvious error]."

  20. 'Team needed fresh legs'published at 17:25 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

Crystal Palace v Newcastle (17:30 GMT)

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira: "The performance was quite good [against Manchester United]. Of course you want more but it was a tough game against a good team. Today we are facing another team who are playing well.

"I always want more from the team. We had good moments but we have to try to compete as best we can. We are playing a team playing for the Champions League spot. We have quality, ambitions, a good team spirit. Hopefully we can play as well as we want to."

On why they made four changes: "A change of shape. We played two big games against Chelsea and United so the team needed more fresh legs.

"We will create chances and momentum during the game. It is important for us to take it. At home we always create a couple of chances."
