Arsenal v Man City (19:30 GMT)

Pep Guardiola is unbeaten against Arsenal in the Premier League, winning 11 of 12 fixtures - including the five most recent trips to Emirates Stadium.

Wednesday's game is the first league meeting between the two sides this season, although they did face each other in the FA Cup last month, with City winning 1-0 thanks to a second-half goal from Nathan Ake.

In the league Arsenal have lost just two of their first 21 fixtures so far this campaign, accruing 51 points. However, one of those losses came at Everton recently as part of a three-game run without a win for the Gunners.

City have lost four times in the league - one more than they suffered in the top-flight last season - the most recent of which came at Arsenal's north-London rivals Tottenham,

  2. The best opponent since Pep joined City?published at 18:34 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2023

Arsenal v Man City (19:30 GMT)

Are Mikel Arteta's 2022-23 Arsenal the best Premier League team that Manchester City have faced in the entirety of Pep Guardiola's time at the Etihad? The Spaniard certainly thinks so... unless he's partaking in some of those cheeky mind games we hear about.

Asked whether this was the best Gunners side he had faced, Guardiola said at his news conference on Tuesday: "Since I'm here, yeah, definitely."

He continued: "The biggest motivation is that I don't want to drop the Premier League just because we are not who we are.

"If they (Arsenal) beat us because they are better, then this is sport. I'll be the first to congratulate them, as I've always done. But not because we are not there. You want it? OK, fight...take it. It's in our hands.

"We'll defend this title until the last day - this is what I'd like. To fight to the maximum, to try to retain the title. If we don't, accept it, but we need to give our best. My players have to feel that every day."

Right then, thought on those teams?

Just how big a loss will Thomas Partey be for Arsenal? Is Mikel Arteta right to bring in Tomiyasu for White?

And how about Pep Guardiola seemingly sticking with his three at the back?

  4. Team news - Partey out for Gunners, Haaland startspublished at 18:30 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2023

Arsenal v Man City (19:30 GMT)

Arsenal make two changes from the draw against Brentford on Saturday.

January signing Jorginho steps in in midfield, replacing Thomas Partey, who is not on the bench after reports emerged earlier today that he is injured.

While Japan international Takehiro Tomiyasu comes in for Ben White in defence.

Arsenal remain without long-term absentees Gabriel Jesus and Mohamed Elneny, while Reiss Nelson and Leandro Trossard are on the bench.

Arsenal XI: Ramsdale, Tomiyasu, Saliba, Gabriel, Zinchenko, Odegaard, Jorginho, Xhaka, Saka, Nketiah, Martinelli

Subs: Turner, Tierney, White, Kiwior, Holding, Trossard, Vieira, Nelson, Cozier-Duberry

The big news out of the Manchester City camp is that Erling Haaland is fit to start after he came off at half-time on Sunday following a collision with Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.

Pep Guardiola opts for just one change to that side and it's in defence. He brings in Nathan Ake for Aymeric Laporte, but is sticking with a back three.

Phil Foden is on the bench after making a substitute appearance on Sunday.

Man City XI: Ederson, Walker, Ake, Dias, Rodri, Gundogan, De Bruyne, Silva, Mahrez, Grealish, Haaland

Subs: Ortega, Phillips, Laporte, Alvarez, Gomez, Akanji, Foden, Palmer, Lewis

  7. Much too early to callpublished at 18:20 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2023

Arsenal v Man City (19:30 GMT)

Yes. I do think it's probably a bit early to be calling this a title decider. There is simply too much of the season still to go for this one result to offer anything definitive. Plus, it's not yet a two-horse race by any means!

However, the outcome of tonight's match will certainly go some way to swaying the race. Both sides have had a bit of a wobble of late. But it the Gunners can get back to winning ways the gap will be an ominous six points with a game in hand.

If City can do what they did in the FA Cup recently and beat Mikel Arteta's men then they will fire a massive psychological shot across the bow by going top on goal difference.
