Manchester City 1-1 Liverpool
Ilkay Gundogan, on his left foot, has a good chance running on to Kevin de Bruyne's pull-back but it is a good save with his feet from Caomhin Kelleher.
Nathan Ake then has a go for the hosts from another superb De Bruyne cross, this one from deep. The Dutch defender is free, flings himself at it and again Kelleher makes an excellent save, diving full stretch to his left and getting two hands to it to push it away.

It's a little bit messy at the moment, both sides are giving the ball away easily because the other team are working so hard to win it back.

Rodri is not too happy with Fabio Carvalho, shoving the Liverpool man. Soon after we get our first booking of the night with Stefan Bajcetic bringing down Cole Palmer.
Manchester City 1-1 Liverpool
Mohamed Salah runs at the Manchester City defence inside the penalty area but Rodri does enough to just about deal with it. Solid defending.
Manchester City 1-1 Liverpool
Decent goalkeeping from a jumping Caomhin Kelleher to deal with a free-kick and he tries to launch a quick counter attack but his long clearance is too long and just ends up in the hands of Stefan Ortega in the opposite goal.

There has just been a real row in front of me after a Liverpool fan in the corporate seats celebrated his side's equaliser.
A couple of City fans side to his left were calling on stewards, fairly bluntly, to get rid of him.
The calls went unheeded, much to the annoyance of the City fan. Now the Liverpool supporters are winding that fan up.
Very loud and aggressive.
Manchester City 1-1 Liverpool
Erling Haaland with a diving header from Riyad Mahrez's flick-on, but the Norwegian just can't get a proper final touch.
Mahrez had started the move on the right touchline, cut inside and played it far left for Cole Palmer and the youngster nearly helped create a goal.

They're back in it. Liverpool were brave, they got six players in the box.
They gambled, got themselves into a good area and scored a simple tap-in because they were brave.
Fabio Carvalho
What a game already.
Liverpool equalise and it's a calm low finish from Fabio Carvalho when free in the middle of the City penalty area. Joel Matip had earlier played it through to James Milner and he produced the low cross, which Carvalho steered home.

Sean McGreal: That’s poor from Darwin Nunez. Should have been able to stay onside.
Manchester City 1-0 Liverpool
Liverpool's Darwin Nunez hits a post after being played in by Mohamed Salah, but it wouldn't have mattered anyway as the assistant's flag is up and it's offside.

The fear for Manchester City's rivals heading into the World Cup was that a fully rested Erling Haaland could cause massive damage after the restart.
Ten minutes gone and his seasonal tally is now up to 24 goals.

Patient, patient, patient play. Erling Haaland does so well, he goes out of the eyeline of the defenders and before you know it he's across you.
A perfect centre forward's goal.
Erling Haaland
Who else! Erling Haaland continues where he left off before the break for the World Cup and only needs 10 minutes to get on the scoresheet.
City make a bright move down the left. Kevin de Bruyne crosses and Haaland gets in ahead of his marker Joe Gomez and volleys it into the net. City lead.
Manchester City 0-0 Liverpool
Kevin de Bruyne on the edge of the box after a great ball from Aymeric Laporte to Cole Palmer. De Bruyne can only hit it into the ground and it bounces up comfortably for away goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola had his head in his hands at that Cole Palmer miss.
The youngster just couldn't get his feet sorted out quickly enough to get his shot on target.
Guardiola, meanwhile, is a bit irritated at the way his team are using the ball. Not quickly enough seems to be the suggestion.
Manchester City 0-0 Liverpool
So close to the opener for Cole Palmer. The 20-year-old gets on the end of a cross from Erling Haaland, but he can't score. Big, big chance.
Palmer just couldn't sort his feet out in time though, nearly falls over when shooting and it's miles wide. If it had been the other way around with Palmer crossing for Haaland you'd expect it to be 1-0.

It's a game of basketball at the moment. It's been a very good start and a very fast start to the game.
