  1. 'Not enough movement'published at 21:06 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2023

    HT: Burnley 0-1 West Brom

    Paul Weller
Former Burnley midfielder on BBC Radio Lancashire

For Burnley I don't like the shape of this 4-3-3, there's not enough movement.

They've got to do something to keep putting them under pressure.

  2. YELLOW CARDpublished at 21:05 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2023

    Sheff Utd 1-0 Hull

Oscar Estupinan goes into the book for a late tackle on Oliver Norwood.

That's Hull's first yellow card of the match. Sheffield United picked up three bookings in the first half, if you're counting.

  3. Postpublished at 21:01 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2023

    Sheff Utd 1-0 Hull

Sander Berge looks to drill a low cross into the Hull box as Sheffield United go on the attack.

But the hosts successfully block it before it can cause any danger.

  4. Postpublished at 20:58 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2023

    Sheff Utd 1-0 Hull

Sheffield United continuing to defend well so far against Hull City.

Hull win a throw in deep in the Blades' half but the hosts successfully pressure them into playing it well back to goalkeeper Matt Ingram.

  5. Postpublished at 20:54 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2023

    Sheff Utd 1-0 Hull

John Egan works onto a long Sheffield United free-kick into the box but his far post effort fails to trouble Matt Ingram.

Surely Hull won't allow the Blades to score early in the second half, too.

  6. SECOND HALFpublished at 20:52 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2023

    Sheff Utd 1-0 Hull

The Joker and the Thief by Wolfmother rattles around Bramall Lane and...silence. Then we're off.

Hull City get the second half under way. Can they overturn Sheffield United's lead?

  7. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:49 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2023

    Burnley 0-1 West Brom

Tremendous stuff at Turf Moor as the in-form Baggies lead against the table-toppers.

Darnell Furlong's header from a John Swift corner gave the Albion an early lead.

Burnley have had the better of it since and Erik Pieters nearly put the ball into his own goal before Ashley Barnes saw a shot crash back off the crossbar just before the break.

The Clarets are 45 minutes away from a first home defeat of the season.

  8. 'Stupid'published at 20:48 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2023

    Burnley 0-1 West Brom

    Paul Weller
Former Burnley midfielder on BBC Radio Lancashire

It's like a rugby tackle. He can't go charging in and being the referee. That's just stupid.

  9. Postpublished at 20:48 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2023

    Burnley 0-1 West Brom

The home side think they should have a penalty again.

Nathan Tella advances in off the left and goes down but it's a clear dive.

Baggies midfielder Jayson Molumby then goes and... tells Tella what he thinks of that and both teams get into a bit of a fracas.

Two minutes added on at the end of the half.

  10. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 20:45 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2023

    Burnley 0-1 West Brom

Ashley Barnes smashes a shot against the crossbar for the home side!

Clarets dangerman Anass Zaroury whips in a fierce low cross that skips up just in front of Barnes about eight yards out.

He makes solid contact but he's just leaning back and it thunders against the bar.

  11. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:45 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2023

    Burnley 0-1 West Brom

First booking of the game goes the way of the goalscorer Darnell Furlong.

He body checks the skilful Anass Zaroury on the halfway line.

  12. The weather outside is frightful...published at 20:41 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2023

    Frozen pitchImage source, Rex Features

*Best weather presenter voice* It's been another VERY cold week across the country.

Three EFL games scheduled to take place tomorrow have already been postponed because of frozen pitches and with the no sharp upturn expected in the next 24 hours or so we could see more fall foul of the weather tomorrow.

The trio of matches definitely off are:

    League One

    • Bristol Rovers v Wycombe
    • Morecambe v Port Vale

    League Two

    • Doncaster v Tranmere
  13. 'A tight one'published at 20:39 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2023

    Burnley 0-1 West Brom

    Paul Weller
Former Burnley midfielder on BBC Radio Lancashire

What a reaction it was from Ashley Barnes. It wasn't the best of strikes from Ian Maatsen.

You'd love to see VAR there. It's a tight one. He did ever so well to guide that towards goal.

Sometimes it goes for you, sometimes it goes against.

  14. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 20:39 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2023

    Burnley 0-1 West Brom

Now the home team have the ball in the net but it wont count.

Ian Maatsen shoots from outside the area and Ashley Barnes sticks a leg out to send it flying into the net.

The flag goes up and I think it's just about, just about, right.

No VAR in the EFL of course.

  15. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:35 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2023

    Sheff Utd 1-0 Hull

The first half draws to a close at Bramall Lane.

Daniel Jebbison gave Sheffield United the lead but Hull haven't sat back.

    An entertaining encounter.

  16. Postpublished at 20:35 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2023

    Burnley 0-1 West Brom

    This game is relentless.

West Brom have the ball in the net but it's ruled out for a foul on Arijanet Muric.

The goalkeeper comes to collect a corner and drops it under pressure from Okay Yokuslu.

Just about the right call but this is not the first time this season Muric is looking uncertain on corners.

  17. Postpublished at 20:31 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2023

    Burnley 0-1 West Brom

HOW has that not gone in?!

Anass Zaroury chips a lovely ball over the Albion defence that Ashley Barnes brings down Dennis Bergkamp style.

He flashes a low cross across the box which former Clarets defender Erik Pieters swipes at and it looks to be going in.

A combination of Baggies goalkeeper Alex Palmer and the post keep it out.

  18. Postpublished at 20:31 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2023

    Sheff Utd 1-0 Hull

Sheffield United win a corner with just a few minutes of the first half to go and Hull clear almost as soon as it enters the box.

The hosts could do with another goal to give themselves a bit of room to relax.

  19. Postpublished at 20:28 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2023

    Sheff Utd 1-0 Hull

Sander Berge puts a ball into the Hull box which Jean Michael Seri latches onto and eventually clears the danger.

At the other end, Oscar Estupinian tries a half volley from the edge of the Sheffield United box but it takes a deflection and Wes Foderingham gathers.

  20. Postpublished at 20:26 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2023

    Burnley 0-1 West Brom

Carlos Corberan and Vincent KompanyImage source, Rex Features

Two young managers having a great impact on their sides this season.

Carlos Corberan's men have the upper hand as we pass the halfway stage of the first half but Vincent Kompany's Burnley have stepped it up these past few minutes.
