  1. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:24 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2023

    Sheff Utd 1-0 Hull

Oliver Norwood goes into the book for a reckless challenge on Aaron Connolly.

This comes after Tommy Doyle was also booked for a similar late tackle on Connolly.

Sheffield United look to be targeting Connolly this evening.

    Sheff Utd 1-0 Hull

There's an off the ball collision as Hull play a long ball into the Sheffield United half.

Jack Robinson and Aaron Connolly go eye to eye in the aftermath and the visitors are awarded a free-kick.

Jean Michael Seri launches it upfield but Hull almost immediately lose possession.

  3. Postpublished at 20:23 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2023

    Burnley 0-1 West Brom

This game is being played at a tremendous pace.

Burnley think they should have a penalty as goalscorer Darnell Furlong goes through the back of Josh Brownhill as he looks to take a cross down in the area.

    Let-off for Albion.

  4. Postpublished at 20:19 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2023

    Burnley 0-1 West Brom

    Another opening for the Baggies.

They break forward after nicking possession on the halfway line.

The ball's eventually squared into Daryl Dike in the middle but his first touch just gets away from him and his shot is charged down.

    Sheff Utd 1-0 Hull

As we approach the half hour stage of this game, there's a definite lull going on right now.

It's been a while since either side have had a realistic chance on goal. Hull, despite being a goal down, look unnerved against a Sheffield United side riding high in the league.

West Brom have got a few good players and are composed around the pitch.

There's a real battle out there for who's got the neatest tricks.

  7. Postpublished at 20:15 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2023

    Burnley 0-1 West Brom

First sight of goal for the home team.

Clarets goalkeeper Arijanet Muric sprays a wonderful crossfield pass to Anass Zaroury on the left.

He brings it down well and swings a cross in for Ashley Barnes.

It's just behind him though and the veteran striker can only direct his header over the bar.

  8. Postpublished at 20:12 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2023

    Sheff Utd 1-0 Hull

Hull are beginning to work their way into this game now and are working a fair bit of possession.

But Sheffield United look unfazed and are dangerous on the break.

You just feel this could be 2-2 by half-time the way this is going.

  9. Postpublished at 20:12 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2023

    Burnley 0-1 West Brom

    Righteo.

    What have Burnley got then?

They have not lost at home all season.

Vincent Kompany would be tearing his hair out if he had any about that West Brom goal.

The former centre-back won't want to see his team defending set pieces like that.

  10. 'A free run'published at 20:10 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2023

    Burnley 0-1 West Brom

    Paul Weller
Former Burnley midfielder on BBC Radio Lancashire

Burnley haven't learnt from an earlier West Brom corner. It's identical and they've scored.

There's nobody around him, a free run and he puts it in the back of the net, nice and simple.

  11. goal

GOAL: Burnley 0-1 West Brompublished at 20:09 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2023

    Darnell Furlong (6 mins)

    WOW!

The away side win a corner which is scrambled behind but the home side do not survive the second set piece.

John Swift swings it in and Darnell Furlong heads home from about four yards out.

    Burnley 0-0 West Brom

A win tonight would send Burnley 19 (NINETEEN) points clear of third place before Saturday's games.

The Clarets are unbeaten at home all season.

Not too much to report in the early stages, as Nathan Tella drags a shot wide from about 25 yards out for the home side.

  13. Postpublished at 20:06 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2023

    Sheff Utd 1-0 Hull

Daniel Jebbison is having a cracker of a game for Sheffield United and is making the most of his return to the starting line-up.

He gets played into the box from a Sander Berge ball from the right and he tries a first-time shot at the inside post but Hull keeper Matt Ingram does well to deny him.

  14. Postpublished at 20:03 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2023

    Sheff Utd 1-0 Hull

Not long after Oscar Estupinan was inches away from levelling for Hull, Jayden Bogle almost doubles Sheffield United's lead.

He picks up the ball and races into the box but Matt Ingram scrapes the ball away for a corner to the hosts.

That corner is well cleared by Hull, but the Blades keep it alive. Good stuff, this.

  15. KICK-OFFpublished at 20:02 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2023

    Burnley 0-0 West Brom

We're under way at Turf Moor.

    The atmosphere is absolutely crackling.

I don't want to jinx it but I think this could be an absolute cracker...

  16. Postpublished at 20:01 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2023

    Sheff Utd 1-0 Hull

Lewie Coyle whips in a lovely low ball right to the feet of his Hull team-mate Oscar Estupinan who's in front of the Sheffield United goal.

But Wes Foderingham duly scoops up the ball before Estupinan can tap in from close range.

  17. 'Belief is part of your culture'published at 19:57 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2023

Burnley v West Brom (20:00 GMT)

Burnley are top of the Championship coming into tonight's game against West Brom and have a five-point gap on second-placed Sheffield United and a whopping 16-point deficit on third-placed Watford.

So is Clarets boss Vincent Kompany getting carried away with his side effectively coasting their way to an immediate Premier League return?

    Not quite.

"I understand the belief outside is getting stronger, but I'd like to think the belief inside is part of your culture," he told BBC Radio Lancashire ahead of tonight's game.

    Sheff Utd 1-0 Hull

Judging from the stands at Bramall Lane, looks like plenty of Sheffield United fans have deployed their big coats for tonight and with the conditions, I don't blame them.

That Daniel Jebbison goal will have warmed them up, mind. It's his first league goal for the Blades since scoring against Everton in May 2021.

  19. Bouncing Baggies are boinging againpublished at 19:54 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2023

Burnley v West Brom (20:00 GMT)

It took a long time - and a change of management - for this season to get going for West Bromwich Albion. But there is little doubt that they are now fully into their stride and 'boingboinging' under Carlos Corberan.

Last Saturday's 3-2 comeback win at Luton - maybe their most significant result to date - was their ninth victory in 11 games under the Spaniard.

With the same squad of players - other than the key return to fitness of last January's £7m signing Daryl Dike after a lost injury-hit year - Albion have gone from bottom of the Championship to sixth.

    Image caption,

After coming off the bench to hit a late winner at Sunderland in December, to register his first goal for Albion, Daryl Dike has now scored in succesive Champiosnhip games

But it is easy to forget that they were playing well in early season under Steve Bruce, were the better side in every game - and just could not put their chances away.

This season's first meeting with Burnley, also on a Friday night in early September, was a classic illustration. Albion dominated and respectful Clarets boss Vincent Kompany was highly complimentary of the Baggies afterwards.

But it took an acrobatic 98th-minute Brandon Thomas-Asante equaliser to get even a point.

And, although Thomas-Asante is suspended, tonight's game against a Burnley side - who have hit both top gear and top spot - will be an interesting yardstick as to just how much Corberan's Albion side have improved.

  20. goal

GOAL: Sheff Utd 1-0 Hullpublished at 19:53 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2023

    Daniel Jebbison (3 mins)

Sheffield United are ahead and they haven't taken long to get into their stride.

Daniel Jebbison, named in place of Billy Sharp for his first league start since 1 August, gives the hosts the lead with a cool finish from inside the box.

Hull won't want to watch that back, the Blades tore their defence apart with a string of passes from the right wing.
