Barrow's home game with Salford was one of nine in League Two to be called off because of a frozen pitch.

However, the Cumbria side are clearly unhappy with the decision and have requested an explanation as to why the match has been called off.

"Despite a soft playing surface, referee Sam Barrott has taken the decision to postpone this afternoon's game against Salford City," Barrow said in a statement.

"The club can confirm that we have approached PGMOL and the EFL for a written statement to enquire as to why the game has been postponed, and to make an official complaint.

"The club would like to apologise to both Barrow and Salford City fans who travelled for the fixture, please understand this decision was entirely out of the club's hands and we were both confident and keen for the game to be played."

    Stevenage celebrateImage source, Rex Features
    • Leaders Leyton Orient are in major trouble in their top-of-the-table barnstormer at Stevenage. Goals by Jamie Reid and Jordan Roberts gave Richie Wellens’ side a dream start, and Idris El Mizouni’s dismissal shortly before the break has not helped Orient’s cause.
    • An equally important game at the opposite end of the table has seen bottom side Gillingham’s resurgence continue: David Tutonda put them 1-0 ahead at Colchester and new signing Tom Nichols has made it two on the stroke of half-time.

We're at half-time in just about all of our games (I think...)

Let's look at the headlines midway through Saturday's action.

  9. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:51 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

    Birmingham 0-2 Preston North End

Preston are well on top in this one after two early goals from Ryan Ledson and Alan Browne inside the first 20 minutes.

North End have been better all over the pitch than Birmingham who've not had much service going forward and zero proper chances on goal.

All one way traffic at the moment.

    Watford 0-1 Rotherham

Into five minutes of time added on at the end of the first half of this lively encounter.

  11. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:48 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

    Stoke 1-0 Reading

    Stoke celebrateImage source, PA Media

Will Smallbone's goal on the 11th minute has the home side out in front at the break.

Reading have been all over the shop so far in this one and need a little more structure going into the second.

  12. Postpublished at 15:48 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

    Wigan 0-1 Luton

Wigan have thrown everything at Luton in an attempt to get back into this, he's seen a goal disallowed already and now Ashley Fletcher's effort on the swivel flies over Ethan Horvath's crossbar.

  13. Postpublished at 15:47 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

    Cardiff 0-1 Millwall

A vital stop from Ryan Allsop has denied Tom Bradshaw, and Millwall, a second goal just before the break. The keeper got down low after a swift counter-attack from the Lions. Into added time at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Wonder what the fans will make of the half-time whistle?

  14. Postpublished at 15:45 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

    Birmingham 0-2 Preston North End

Thomas Cannon has a chance to make it three for North End but John Ruddy is able to parry the ball away from the Birmingham goal.

It was a great run from the forward who nutmegged a defender before firing off his shot.

  15. Postpublished at 15:45 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

    Bristol City 0-0 Blackburn

Not too many chances in this over the past few minutes.

Daniel Ayala and Scott Wharton have both been booked for the away side.

As it stands, this will be Rovers' first league draw of the season. Long way to go though of course.

  16. League One latestpublished at 15:43 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

    #bbcefl

As the bottom side in League One before the action began, Forest Green badly need wins - and they'll have had more cause than usual to hope for one today because their visitors are third-bottom MK Dons.

Step forward Myles Peart-Harris, who's put them ahead in the showdown near the bottom.

Elsewhere, Luke Leahy's penalty has put Shrewsbury 1-0 ahead against Cambridge. Victory at home to their relegation-threatened opponents could send the Shrews soaring into the top half of the table.

  17. Postpublished at 15:39 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

    QPR 1-0 Swansea

Joel Piroe is looking for his 10th of the season for the Swans and has his first sight of goal, poking over the bar after Harry Darling had laid-off a Matt Grimes cross.

  18. Postpublished at 15:35 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

    Cardiff 0-1 Millwall

The Bluebirds go in search of an instant reply, Callum Robinson's free-kick is charged down but Jaden Philogene fizzes a shot just over George Long's bar from the edge of the area.

    Plymouth celebrateImage source, Rex Features

Perhaps someone warned Plymouth that second-placed Sheffield Wednesday had taken the lead.

Just when the Owls had threatened to reduce the gap on the leaders to a point, the Pilgrims have plundered two goals in two minutes. Dan Scarr and Ryan Hardie have done the business at Home Park against 18th-placed Cheltenham, who are three points above the drop zone.

  20. goal

GOAL: Cardiff 0-1 Millwallpublished at 15:31 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

    Tom Bradshaw (25 mins)

They've had the majority of the chances and it's the visitors who strike first. Defender Jake Cooper threads a defence-splitting pass through for Tom Bradshaw who gets in front of his marker and finishes from an angle.
