    Cardiff 0-0 Millwall

Zian Flemming has been in revalatory form for the Lions and he's in no mood to give the beleagured City fans an easy ride this afternoon... the Dutchman tries his luck from halfway, though Ryan Allsop is equal to his effort.

The potentially huge game at the top of League Two has already produced a goal.

Leyton Orient had conceded once in their previous seven games, but Jamie Reid has made a mockery of that by heading second-placed Stevenage ahead at the Lamex Stadium.

Boro will reduce the gap between themselves and the leaders to two points, should they win today.

    Cardiff 0-0 Millwall

    Dafydd Pritchard
BBC Sport Wales at Cardiff City Stadium

Cardiff fans were calling on club owner Vincent Tan to leave during a pre-match protest.

At least 100 people gathered outside Cardiff City Stadium, chanting "sack the board" and "we want our club back".

One supporter let off a blue flare, while others held banners reading ‘Tan out’.

Fans are unhappy at the way Cardiff have been run recently, with the club 21st in the Championship table and searching for a third manager of the season.

That ill feeling has continued at the start of this game, with a few anti-Tan chants already.

Quiet start in west London but Ethan Laird has an early opening for the Hoops only to curl his cross from the right too close to Swans keeper Steven Benda.

    Bristol City 0-0 Blackburn

The home team have started on the front foot here.

Forward Antoine Semenyo has been linked with a move to Premier League Bournemouth but he's started for Bristol City and been right in the thick of the early action.

    Cardiff 0-0 Millwall

It’s fair to say all is not well in Cardiff. There were loud and colourful (blue!) protests against owner Vincent Tan outside the stadium around half an hour before kick-off. The club are once again managerless, out of the cups and hovering above the Championship drop-zone. Can these 90 minutes on the pitch provide some relief for Bluebirds fans?

  11. KICK-OFFpublished at 15:01 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

We are off and running on this cold weather-hit day of EFL action.

Still plenty of thrills and spills to come though no doubt.

  12. Squad Goals' Championship game of the daypublished at 14:59 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

    Watford v Rotherham (15:00 GMT)

    Presenter, Squad Goals

I’d love to eavesdrop on the Watford dressing room. I imagine it’s a bit like the United Nations before they all sit down to talk about geopolitics, climate change and what’s for lunch.

Their global scouting network continues to pay dividends though and has seen Slaven Bilic’s side move up to third.

Their opener against Blackpool started with a Colombian teenager in Yasser Asprilla, fed in Portuguese youngster Matteus Martins and from the rebound 17-year-old Hackney lad Tobi Adeyemo finished on his league debut.

They may have injury issues, but the Watford kids are alright. Oh, and add to that, Ismaila Sarr was back amongst the goals in that 2-0 win over the Seasiders. The Senegal star has seven for the season and has looked lively since returning from the World Cup.

Rotherham are in all sorts of trouble and start four points away from the drop zone. Matt Taylor has had a very tough time since taking over but a shock 4-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers was a timely boost.

That said, they’ve only won twice on the road all season and there’s no wonder goalkeeper Viktor Johansson has made more saves (112) than any other shot stopper in the division.

Can Rotherham make Vicarage Road feel like New York when they take to the floor? Let’s find out.

  13. Squad Goals' League Two game of the daypublished at 14:57 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

Stevenage v Leyton Orient (15:00 GMT)

    Jonny Crowther
    Squad Goals

The top two face off at Broadhall Way. Stevenage haven't lost in 10, so will fancy their chances against Leyton Orient.

Despite topping the table though, the O's have only one win in their last five games.

The pair played out a dull 0-0 draw over the festive period at Brisbane Road, so they have a chance to put things right this time around.

I'm not too confident though, three out of the last four meetings between the pair have ended goalless.

Surely this won't be another nil-niller! But with so many games called off today because of the weather, I don't have much of a choice anyway!

  14. League Two fixturespublished at 14:55 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

All games kick off at 15:00 GMT

Just three matches have survived the cold snap in League Two but all three have a huge amount riding on them.

Game of the day would always have been second-placed Stevenage's home game against league leaders Leyton Orient.

Both look promotion-bound but a win for either side, on a day when all the chasers will be watching from the sofa, would go a long way to helping put them out of sight.

Down at the other end of the table, Colchester have climbed out of the mire with three successive wins.

They host bottom side Gillingham who have been buoyed by a recent takeover and recorded their third win of the season against fellow strugglers Hartlepool last week.

Meanwhile, Pools, in 23rd, host 22nd-placed Rochdale. Yikes.

    • Colchester United v Gillingham

    Derby v Bolton (15:00 GMT)

Wanderers have been firing on all cyclinders. Ian Evatt's side haven't lost a league game since late October and smashed Portsmouth 3-0 last weekend too.

Dion Chales was instrumental at the University of Bolton stadium in that win, he got two and has 12 for the season.

Derby, on the other hand, are unbeaten in 12 in the league and Max Bird's screamer was the highlight in their 3-2 win at Cheltenham last time out. Tom Barkhuizen was on the scoresheet too, he has four in three.

So, they've both got the firepower, let's hope they bring it to Pride Park this afternoon.

  16. League One fixturespublished at 14:51 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

All games kick off at 15:00 GMT

As mentioned already the games at Bristol Rovers, Lincoln, Morecambe and Peterborough have all been called off because of frozen pitches.

Of the games which are on Derby's home clash with Bolton stands out. Two former Premier League teams, both in form and trying to chase down the top two.

League leaders Plymouth host 18th-plced Cheltenham and second-placed Sheffield Wednesday welcome Fleetwood, who are 17th.

Elsewhere, there's a six pointer as bottom side Forest Green host 22nd-placed MK Dons.

    • Barnsley v Accrington Stanley
    • Derby County v Bolton Wanderers
    • Forest Green Rovers v Milton Keynes Dons
    • Oxford United v Ipswich Town
    • Plymouth Argyle v Cheltenham Town
    • Portsmouth v Exeter City
    • Sheffield Wednesday v Fleetwood Town
    • Shrewsbury Town v Cambridge United
  17. Bluebirds seeking to tame Lionspublished at 14:49 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

    Cardiff v Millwall (15:00 GMT)

Millwall could return to the top-six, with a game in hand on the sides above them, by claiming victory in South Wales this afternoon.

Gary Rowett’s side are, however, a different proposition on the road than they are at home, taking just 12 points from 13 away games in the Championship.

Though the Bluebirds know they cannot now be sucked into the drop-zone tonight, even with defeat, due to Blackpool’s game against fellow strugglers Huddersfield being postponed, they will be seeking to overhaul some of the clutch of sides just above them by claiming all three points in their first home game since manager Mark Hudson was axed.

City are, however, eight games without a win in the league stretching back to November and the 1-1 draw against Wigan in their last league game saw them score their first goal in four matches before being pegged-back deep into stoppage-time in the final act of Hudson’s reign.

Their FA Cup adventure also ended in the third round replay at Leeds this week so all eyes are on Championship survival from now on for Cardiff players and fans.

  18. Which side loses ground in the race?published at 14:47 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

    QPR v Swansea (15:00 GMT)

The stakes are high for a true mid-table clash in West London between two sides towards the bottom of the Championship form table.

The visitors go into this game one point and one place ahead of this afternoon’s hosts after two wins in three, but Swans fans will tell you Russell Martin’s side have been maddeningly inconsistent this season and hadn’t won in the 10 before that.

The Hoops could drop two places or climb five, depending on this afternoon’s results, while the Swans could drop three or climb four.

After a bright start, Neil Critchley has overseen a return of three points from four games as the Rs’ solid start to the season under Michael Beale threatens to unravel.

They have won only five of their 13 home games and this game looks a potentially big one for one of these sides to stick with the play-off chasing pack.

  19. Blues looking over their shoulder?published at 14:45 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

    Birmingham v Preston (15:00 GMT)

    Birmingham CityImage source, Rex Features

It's shaping up to be another frustrating season for Birmingham City fans, with off the pitch concerns still overshadowing activities on the field.

Despite the ongoing ownership issues, John Eustace's men made a solid start to the season and even looked like they could make a run for a top six spot.

However, a run of four successive defeats has left them just six points above the bottom three and in need of a win to steady the ship.

Like Blues, visitors Preston, who play Tottenham in the FA Cup next week, have won one and lost four of their past five league games.

  20. Latics seek revenge to climb off the bottompublished at 14:43 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

    Wigan v Luton (15:00 GMT)

It’s been just four days since Elijah Adebayo scored a 98th-minute winner for Luton to see-off Wigan 2-1 in their FA Cup third round replay.

The two familiar foes renew rivalries in the league with basement-boys Wigan looking to take advantage of the two sides directly above them being out of action.

The Latics are a point below Blackpool and Huddersfield and four adrift of Cardiff, who are just above the relegation zone.

Kolo Toure’s side snatched a 1-1 draw at the Bluebirds with a stoppage-time goal of their own last time out which ended a run of four straight defeats in which they had conceded 14 goals, but they have won only one of their last 16 games in all competitions.

Despite allowing a 2-0 lead to slip to defeat against West Brom in their last league game, Luton are another of a clutch of sides on the fringes of the play-offs and, with a game in hand on the sides above them, boss Rob Edwards knows three points today could go a long way to establishing them in the top-six.

Though they have only kept one clean sheet in nine games in all competitions, the Hatters are one of the division’s best away sides with seven wins and only 13 goals conceded in their 13 away games so far.
