Liverpool midfielder Fabinho is lucky to avoid a yellow yard here. His fellow Brazilian Vinicius Jr knocks the ball past him on the wing and Fabinho knows he has no chance of catching him so sticks his arm out to bring him down instead.

Fabinho almost bursts into the box but is denied by a good sliding tackle from Eduardo Camavinga. Good but risky. He just got the ball, it started outside the box and ended inside.

    Eintracht Frankfurt 0-0 Napoli

After an early foray by Napoli, Eintracht Frankfurt have responded well and had a couple of chances.

Randal Kolo Muani showed some great skill to flick the ball over his shoulder before sweeping a shot just wide of the far post, while Mario Gotze forced Alex Meret to gather his strike at his near post.

What a goal, what a finish! Salah whips that ball in, and the little flick from Darwin Nunez. I said Liverpool would start quick but I didn't think it would be that quick.

GOAL - Liverpool 1-0 Real Madridpublished at 20:06 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February 2023

    Darwin Nunez (4 mins)

    Dream start!

Liverpool couldn't score in 90 minutes against Real in last year's final, but open the scoring within four minutes tonight.

Mohamed Salah is given a load of time and space on the right and he crosses for Darwin Nunez, who scores with a lovely fancy flick from eight yards out.

    Genius.

    Eintracht Frankfurt 0-0 Napoli

With a 68, a 77 and a 99 in their ranks, Napoli are not afraid to go high with their shirt numbers.

They boast a frightening attack and it has already flexed its muscles in the first few minutes of this game, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia chasing a pass over the top, getting into the box and cutting the ball back but it goes just behind his team-mate.

No player has scored more Champions League goals against Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool than Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr - who netted the only goal in last season's final.

Monaco's former Sevilla striker Wissam Ben Yedder has also bagged three.

Liverpool fans are wasting no time in making their fury known at the manner in which they were wrongly blamed for the chaos at last season's Champions League final between these two teams in Paris.

A large banner right at the front of The Kop simply reads "UEFA LIARS" and the Champions League anthem is jeered thunderously.

I am surprised Toni Kroos went in the end. I imagine he is there as a back-up option if he needs it but they have plenty of options such as Dani Ceballos. There is important players coming back into the side like Karim Benzema who has been out injured for a lot of this season and hasn't scored in the Champions League yet.

It is more attacking than we had been expecting from Ancelotti, who has decided to go with Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr in case there are chances to hit Liverpool on the couter.
