There has been some fantastic forward play from Salah and Nunez but the star of the first half was Vinicius Jr. Every time he got the ball on the left-hand side for Real Madrid he has looked so dangerous.

What a half it has been, more of the same in the second please.

The last two times a team have gone two goals ahead in the first half of a Champions League game and not led at half-time have been Liverpool against Madrid teams. The last time was against Atletico in October 2021.

What a first half. There was goals and a lot more, it went exactly how Jurgen Klopp and the Liverpool players wanted it to go with a fast start and a two-goal lead.

They will be disappointed to have let Real Madrid back into the game.

The game is so open. Both teams are so poor defensively, there is no protection from midfield for either side and any time one of them go forward they look likely to score.
