Marcus Rashford is a man with supreme confidence. He powers in a shot from a 30-yard free-kick which is moving and Joe Lumley saves. The rebound lands to Christian Eriksen, whose shot is blocked.

Preston manager Ryan Lowe, speaking to BBC One: “With the first two goals we’d have obviously liked to get closer to [Son], but they were two top finishes. The third one is a little bit disappointing, and in the build-up to the third we should have had a foul, but there’s no disgrace in getting beaten by a team like that.
“We had a plan to get behind them a little bit more. We wanted them to go around us and not through us. If you get to 0-0 at 70 minutes, maybe they change their plan. We could have done a little bit better with the ball, but we were fantastic without it.
“It’ll give us belief to kick on. We’ll probably get some credit because the lads were fantastic. I’m pleased with the group – disappointed we’re out, but onwards and upwards.
“The fans were fantastic today – they’ve been immense. We know the type of players we’ve got. We just need to look at our Championship form and start getting some results.”

I like Weghorst. He brings other players into the game.
He is very good at his feet and holds the ball well which we haven't seen from many United centre forwards for a while.

Wout Weghorst is chopped down by Thomas Holmes and United have a free-kick.
The referee has a word with the Biscuitman.
Man Utd 0-0 Reading
Do people still call Reading the Biscuitmen? That's a great nickname.

Reading take a bit of a risk at the back, Joe Lumley's corner isn't great, but the Royals keep the ball.

He tried to go goalkeeper side and have it bounce. I think Eriksen just tried to be a little too clever there.

Reading are trying not to drop away too early but it is too difficult for them at the moment.

Christian Eriksen has a crack from a free-kick for United. He whips it round the wall but doesn't get enough bend onto it to bring it back towards goal.

Tottenham assistant manager Cristian Stellini, speaking to BBC One: "We started very well. We hoped to start very well. We were ready and made good choices for the team. We need to say a lot of congratulations to the players.
"The three at the back today were so good, they played very well. We started the game with the right pace. The build-up from the back was good. [Preston] spent a lot of energy on running. In the second half it was easier.
"We have a tough schedule and we need to work. We have to recovery energy, but we’re happy. This is the behaviour we want to see in every game."
On Son Heung-min: "Sonny is a great player – we know. He has to wait for the right moment to find the space. He was very focused on the match. He had to wait for a right time to do a good job."
On Arnaut Danjuma: "We’re looking forward to working with Danjuma. It’s a good start for him. He’s a good guy. He needs time to understand everything, but it’s important to start well in this type of competition."

Good play from United and they force a corner. Good start.

Another Aaron Wan-Bissaka ball into the mixer from an Antony flick, but this time he can't find a Red Devil.

First sniff for United. Aaron Wan-Bissaka hammers in a cross which Wout Weghorst flicks wide via a Reading deflection.

Casemiro is arguing with the ref and pleading his innocence but it was a foul. It is a dangerous area to give away a free kick this early in the game.

Do you remember the last time Reading beat Manchester United?
You're probably lying if you answered yes. It was 96 years ago.
Reading have won just one of their 22 matches against United (D7 L14) and have lost their last six in a row. Their only win was in January 1927 in a second replay at the third round stage of the FA Cup, a game played at Villa Park.
