    Stoke 1-0 Stevenage

A sweeping Stoke move almost brings a second goal as the ball reaches the feet of Bersant Celina cutting in from the left.

The Kosovo international, who has impressed on his debut on loan from Dijon, sees his effort tipped round the post by Stevenage goalkeeper Taye Ashby-Hammond.

The hosts are very much in charge of this contest.

This Liverpool have been so poor first half. Midlfield is like swiss cheese and such a miss from Salah, horrific. Need to have more forward passing and higher tempo for second half otherwise Brighton will nick this.

    Mick, Belfast

By the looks of Liverpool should sign Caicedo. Amongst others.

  6. 'Really entertaining game'published at 14:22 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January 2023

    Brighton 1-1 Liverpool

    Terry Butcher
Ex-England captain on BBC Radio 5 Live

Both sides have had some good chances, some decent possession and it has been a really entertaining game.

It probably should be 3-3. If it continues like this in the second half we're in for a great 45 minutes.

  7. HALF-TIMEpublished at 14:18 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January 2023

    Brighton 1-1 Liverpool

Good game. Liverpool are doing better here than they did two weeks ago.

Two additional minutes. What does Jurgen Klopp say to his players at half-time?

  9. Postpublished at 43 mins

    Brighton 1-1 Liverpool

This tie is delicately poised. Liverpool looked to have taken control but that equaliser has lifted the whole stadium. Brighton fans leaped from their seats the moment the ball struck the back of the net.

  10. 'High-quality action'published at 14:14 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January 2023

    Brighton 1-1 Liverpool

    Terry Butcher
Ex-England captain on BBC Radio 5 Live

    Lewis Dunk is claiming it.

It's a short corner, played to the far post then headed out to around 25 yards out. The ball is hit by Lamptey, it's going off target but it's redirected by Dunk and Alisson, who is going to his left, can't get back there.

I've scored goals like that but they are normally in my own net!

We've had so much high-quality action.

Smiles between Lamptey and Dunk as they celebrate the goal. But Jurgen Klopp is not laughing. He won't be happy with his side's defending in the build-up.

    Lewis Dunk

    Game on!

Liverpool fail to clear and the ball drops for Tariq Lamptey about 22 yards out. He smacks it first time into a crowded penalty area and Alisson seems to have it covered until it strikes Lewis Dunk and deflects past the keeper.

  13. 'Poor goal to concede'published at 14:08 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January 2023

    Stoke 1-0 Stevenage

    Pat Murphy
Commentator on BBC Radio 5 Live

Jacob Brown was unmarked at the far post and the corner was easily flicked on. It's a poor goal to concede.

    Brighton 0-1 Liverpool

One or two Brighton heads have dropped since the goal. This is a test of character for Roberto de Zerbi's side. Liverpool are playing with confidence and a real sense of purpose.

  16. 'It's a great break'published at 14:06 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January 2023

    Brighton 0-1 Liverpool

    Terry Butcher
Ex-England captain on BBC Radio 5 Live

Salah plays Elliott in, he's onside, and Brighton are complaining about a handball.

It's a good goal and a great break.

For the first time, Liverpool had a three against two situation and made the most of it.

If you go a goal down you try and get it chalked off but I don't think it hits Keita's hand.

    Brighton 0-1 Liverpool

Harvey Elliott has come in for some stick this season but he's come up with the goods today. He seems to have been around for ages. He doesn't turn 20 until April.

  18. Postpublished at 32 mins

    Brighton 0-1 Liverpool

This is just what Jurgen Klopp demanded.

It's been a lively first half showing by the Reds - much improved after recent performances.

Will they go on and finish the job?

Mitoma is just so good. His one on one is next to no one in the premier league

As a Palace fan it borders on sacrilegious however Mitoma looks like yet another fantastic signing by Brighton have to say.
