That was such a big chance for Tottenham. United have been on top but Spurs are so effective on the break. Beth England is usually in the right place at the right time. But she wasn't then!

Great stuff again from Alessia Russo, spinning her marker on the edge of the box and flashing in a shot which takes a deflection and forces a save from Tinja-Riikka Korpela. The game is opening up!

  4. 'A real chance for Spurs'published at 13:18 Greenwich Mean Time 12 February 2023

I can't quite believe what I've just seen. That was a real chance for Spurs.

Ashleigh Neville driving the ball forward then played it out wide, a great pass to Mana Iwabuchi. Then Iwabuchi just passed it to no one. Beth England was calling for the ball.

It's been all United but Spurs nearly nick the opener! Again, it's brilliant play from Ashleigh Neville as she rides a tackle in midfield and picks out Mana Iwabuchi inside the area. She looks up, tries to pick out Beth England in the middle but can't find the striker.

Exceptional play from Man Utd, the only thing missing was the finish. Ella Toone couldn't quite believe that it hit the post.

United were able to get through Tottenham too easily there.

A Manchester United goal is surely incoming...

Ella Toone has her head in her hands, she can't believe they haven't scored as she flashes a cross/shot across goal and against the base of the far post. Nikita Parris does well to nick the ball on the righ and find Toone, whose low effort is inches away from perfection.

This already feels better from Manchester United. They are taking shots earlier and have been a bit more unpredictable than they were in the first half. Tottenham's switch to a back four seems strange. They were keeping United out wide in the first half and now they aren't.

Brighton v Aston Villa (14:00 GMT)

Aston Villa manager Carla WardImage source, Reuters

Aston Villa boss Carla Ward is glad to be playing Brighton in back-to-back games as it has allowed her team to really scrutinise their performance in last weekend's 1-1.

“I would usually say that I’m never a fan of it and it is never easy but on this occasion, I was delighted because we have been able to pick the bones out of it every single day,” Ward said.

“It was a chance to really have a look at where we weren’t good enough.

"That sounds crazy because we dominated the game and got a point but ultimately, we felt that there were so many areas that we weren’t happy with in our performance.

“This time around, it was probably a blessing for us and there’s an opportunity now for the players to go and put the performance right most importantly.”

Liverpool boss Matt Beard says that he's pleased with his side's development this season in his programme notes.

"We always knew this would be a process and that it would take time to fulfil our potential at this level," he writes.

"It has taken those teams at the top several years to get to where they are now, so we've been pleased with how we've gone about things this season, and aside from a couple of performances, we have been competitive in all the games.

"If we can back up last week's win with another one today, we will have given ourselves an excellent chance of staying in the division"

    HT: Tottenham 0-0 Manchester United

    Sam Miller
Former West Ham and Tottenham player on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

Tottenham's work-rate has been formidable in the first-half. They're trying to shut down United and hold onto that 0-0, they don't mind that it is goalless at the break.

United have a chance to go top so there is a lot riding on it for them.
