  1. CLOSE!published at 31 mins

    Nottingham Forest 0-1 Manchester United

Brennan Johnson, with a great run of his own, skipping past a sliding challenge from Lisandro Martinez, gets the ball on to the right foot and it would've been some goal but the Forest dangerman can't keep the strike down and over it goes.

  2. Postpublished at 29 mins

    Nottingham Forest 0-1 Manchester United

It took Nottingham Forest 20 minutes to get into the game, but this is a great spell for them. Once again David de Gea is called into action, making another decent stop, this time denying Brennan Johnson.

It's a save you'd expect De Gea to make, and he does.

  3. GREAT SAVE!published at 27 mins

    Nottingham Forest 0-1 Manchester United

Gustavo Scarpa has a go and catches it nicely on the volley from 20 yards out, but David de Gea, flinging himself to his left, does excellently to get two hands to it to push it wide.

  4. United 'so lucky'published at 27 mins

    Nottingham Forest 0-1 Manchester United

    Clinton Morrison
Former Republic of Ireland striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Manchester United are so lucky. They've got away with one.

They were so open. It was a poor pass from Rashford and that's why they were so open, they'd committed too many bodies forward.

  5. Why are they booing?published at 26 mins

Sam Surridge is shaking his head and some Nottingham Forest fans not far away from us are booing.

I am not sure why. He was offside. That is precisely what VAR is for isn't it?

  6. DISALLOWED GOAL - Forestpublished at 20:24 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2023

Sam Surridge's goal does not stand. He's offside. United still lead 1-0.

The lines are shown on the TV replays and Surridge, by the narrowest of margins, is offside. United get away with that one.

  7. VAR checkpublished at 20:24 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2023

We had VAR chalking off two goals yesterday, are we going to have one today?

  8. goal

GOAL - Nottingham Forest 1-1 Manchester Unitedpublished at 22 mins

    Sam Surridge

With their first chance of the game, Forest equalise.

But is it going to be ruled out by VAR?

Sam Surridge races on to a ball from Morgan Gibbs-White and slots it past David de Gea.

    But it might not stand...

  9. Johnson 'in good goalscoring form'published at 20:23 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2023

    Nottingham Forest 0-1 Manchester United

    Clinton Morrison
Former Republic of Ireland striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

I believe Johnson has the beating of Manchester United down the left, he's got the pace and he's been in good goalscoring form.

Him and Morgan Gibbs-White are the two they want to get on the ball.

  10. Postpublished at 20 mins

    Nottingham Forest 0-1 Manchester United

Brennan Johnson, one of Forest's best players this season, looks to spark the home crowd back into life and tries to burst down the left flank, but Lisandro Martinez stops him in his tracks.

Forest come again though and win their first corner, but Aaron Wan-Bissaka heads clear Gustavo Scarpa's forceful delivery.

  11. Postpublished at 18 mins

    Nottingham Forest 0-1 Manchester United

Nottingham Forest are struggling to get the ball and struggling to stay in the game.

Just the start Erik ten Hag would have been wanting. United in total control at the moment.

Roberto Cavazos: Marcus Rashford is making Gareth Southgate look extremely foolish for always keeping him on the bench, despite the poor form of those picked ahead of him. Having said that, I couldn’t care less about England. Save him for @ManUtd

Chris: That Rashford goal reminded me of THAT Giggs goal v Arsenal. Obviously nowhere near as spectacular.

Tony: Rashford is just playing FIFA on Beginner mode.

  13. Postpublished at 15 mins

    Nottingham Forest 0-1 Manchester United

We've got the second leg in a week's time, but United are looking to double their advantage and make next week a routine evening.

Antony gets the ball back on to his left foot on the edge of the area and looks to curl it into the top corner, but it doesn't curl enough and it's wide of Wayne Hennessey's goal.

  14. Postpublished at 12 mins

    Nottingham Forest 0-1 Manchester United

United are looking dangerous every time they get the ball. This time a cross is played into the box from the right, looking for Wout Weghorst but Forest manage to head it clear.

  15. Rashford's sensational strikepublished at 10 mins

    Nottingham Forest 0-1 Manchester United

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport at the City Ground

There was a superb little move by Marcus Rashford when he sprinted into the box then, running over the ball to get it onto his left foot, which allowed him to beat Wayne Hennessy with a low shot to the corner.

Rashford is one of the most in-form players in the country just now.

Ten in ten games since he came back from the World Cup.

  16. 'He's unstoppable'published at 9 mins

    Nottingham forest 0-1 Manchester United

It's a brilliant run from Rashford but it's poor defending.

Joe Worrall doesn't sort his feet and he can't make the tackle.

Right foot or left foot, he's unstoppable at the moment.

  17. Postpublished at 8 mins

Antony, on his left foot, hits a strike from the edge of the penalty area and it is dipping and bending, but just past the post. United nearly two up inside eight minutes.

  18. goal

GOAL - Nottingham Forest 0-1 Manchester Unitedpublished at 6 mins

    Marcus Rashford

Brilliant from the man in form.

Marcus Rashford gets the ball 10 yards inside his own half, close to the left touchline, sprints at the Forest defence and what a run it is.

He squeezes his way past a few home defenders and smashes the ball past Wayne Hennessey.

    What a start for United.

  20. Antony with a point to provepublished at 20:06 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2023

    Nottingham Forest 0-0 Manchester United

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport at the City Ground

Manchester United winger Antony has a point to prove tonight.

The Brazilian started his United career really well, with a goal on his debut against Arsenal and further strikes in his next two Premier League games, against Manchester City and Everton.

But he has been below par in his last few games, including at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

Manager Erik ten Hag defended him yesterday but it already looks like he is keen to get on the ball.
