When Newcastle were 3-0 up on aggregate you thought they were gone but people don't believe that now Southampton have pulled one back.
If Southampton score in the first 20 minutes of the second half this could prove to be a great tie.

A free-kick on the right for Newcastle but Southampton defend that well and an absorbing first half comes to an end.

It has been a bit scrappier over the last 10 minutes.
Newcastle aren't quite as dominant as they were before and that should help to lift the Southampton fans.

Three added minutes.

Southampton get in down the right with new signing James Bree. The former Luton man picks out Adam Armstrong but a heavy touch and the chance is gone.

Southampton forward Che Adams is down. He landed awkwardly after jumping with Kieran Trippier but looks okay to continue.
Newcastle 2-1 Southampton (Agg 3-1)
Newcastle really are playing some lovely stuff at times.
Miguel Almiron has a pop after some good build up play and then Fabian Schar gets in on the act overlapping down the right but then skewing an ambitious effort well wide.

Callum Wilson sprints onto Bruno Guimaraes curling ball down the channel but can't get his cross past the first Southampton defender.

The home players are continuing their penalty appeals and it looks like they may have a case with Lyanco sticking an arm on Callum Wilson's neck.
Newcastle 2-1 Southampton (Agg 3-1)
That goal seems to have stung Newcastle back into life. The home side get down the right a couple of times and then protest for a penalty as Callum Wilson goes to ground.
Nowt doing there.

I'm not convinced Southampton have had a touch in Newcastle's box yet but they do have a goal.
Willock gets it wrong as he tries to lay the pass back and Adams takes advantage.
Che Adams
What. A. Finish.
Out of nothing Southampton are back in this tie. A sloppy pass from Joe Willock presents the ball to Che Adams 25 yards out.
The Scotland forward takes one touch then arrows a shot past Nick Pope into the bottom left corner.
Newcastle 2-0 Southampton (Agg 3-0)
James Ward-Prowse, Ibrahima Diallo and Carlos Alcaraz have barely had a kick in midfield for the visitors so far.
Unless they can start to impose themselves Saints' hopes look forlorn.

There is almost disbelief among the Newcastle fans because they are used to doing things the hard way.
That is a brilliant goal. It's great understanding between Willock and Joelinton in the build-up and then the cut back is on for Longstaff.
The players have done well but, you have to say, the manager has done some job in getting these players to understand each other.
Newcastle 2-0 Southampton (3-0 Agg)
Has that goal ended Southampton's hopes of reaching the final? It looks a tough ask now.
Sean Longstaff
Brilliant goal.
Joelinton and Joe Willock combine superbly with a little one-two down the left as they cut Saints open again.
Willock plays a cute ball into Miguel Almiron, who reverses the ball back across goal for Sean Longstaff to sweep home.
