Mateo Kovacic tries a very spectacular flying volley from 20 yards out after a poor Dortmund clearance but it goes well wide.

Chelsea had Borussia Dortmund on the rack early on and after period when the Bundesliga side were dictating terms Kai Havertz came so close.

Borussia are still enjoying plenty of possession and are helped by a constant soundtrack from the visiting support.

All very tight here at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea must hope they don't regret these missed opportunities.

Raphael Guerreiro whips in a free-kick for Dortmund which Kepa parries away. I'm not sure why he didn't catch it but it worked anyway.

It's another big chance for Chelsea.

They've had two or three tonight but it's just not going their way.

Femi: Contrasting confidence and intensity levels between the two teams. Chelsea have really suffered under Potter.

Chelsea 0-0 Borussia Dortmund (agg 0-1)

That's Chelsea's best chance by a mile tonight. Kai Havertz is Chelsea's joint top scorer this season, but only has six goals.

  7. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 20:40 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2023

Chelsea 0-0 Borussia Dortmund (agg 0-1)

How hasn't this gone in for Chelsea?!

Reece James' cross is cleared out to Kai Havertz. The German takes a first-time shot from the edge of the box which beats Alexander Mayer but hits the inside of the post before rolling agonisingly along the line without crossing it.

    Rafa

    The breakthrough finally arrives!

Club Bruges had just been getting into the game before Benfica get their first in this game and the third in the tie.

It is great work from Rafa, who controls a cross on the right side of the box, takes a smart touch to work some space before slotting in.

There is a VAR check, however. But it comes to nothing and the goal stands.

Dortmund midfielder Emre Can lads awkwardly after jumping with Kai Havertz and hurts his shoulder.

He is able to play on without treatment needed.

Dortmund have not won both legs of a Champions League knockout tie for 26 years. That year, they went on to win the title.

Chelsea are filled with individual stars, reminds me of Real Madrid in the 2000s post-Zidane and pre-Cristiano, they would get knocked out to teams that were a more cohesive unit like Lyon, which Dortmund are quite like.

The crowd fell silent as Reyna drove with the ball into the box and flashed the ball across the face of the goal. If there was a Dortmund player in the middle they'd be in front.

Almost a chance for Dortmund. Marius Wolf fizzes a quick pass to Giovanni Reyna on the right. He holds off a defender and flashes a ball across the six-yard box but nobody is there to tuck in.

On paper, that Chelsea side wins 3-0 here. Only Bellingham gets into that Chelsea starting line up from Dortmund squad.

Dortmund are a quarter of the way through this game unscathed. A goalless draw takes them into the quarter-finals.

Sterling looks like he keeps having an extra touch when normally his quickness of thought is his best asset.

The occasions he's got forward he's just not been sure what to do.

He looks like he's dazed by the occasion at the moment.

Very good play by Joao Felix to carry the ball 30 yards before being fouled by Emre Can.

Chelsea lose the ball from the resulting free-kick mind.

  18. 'Dortmund have upped it'published at 20:32 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2023

    Dortmund have just upped it.

They didn't know what hit them in the first 10 minutes but now, all of a sudden, Chelsea are on the back foot. The yellow shirts are moving the ball much better.

If Chelsea were to concede now after the start they made then it would be a disaster.

  19. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:31 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2023

Benfica 0-0 Club Bruges (agg 2-0)

A chance for Club Bruges as Tajon Buchanan is brought down by Nicolás Otamendi right on the edge of the box. It is a yellow card for Otamendi and that means he misses the quarter-final, if Benfica go through.

Hans Vanaken is on the free kick and hits it low but Benfica are able to deal with the danger.

Dortmund's fifth-minute replacement is the earliest substitution in a Champions League knockout game ever.
