West Ham secured a deserved win away to League One Derby at Pride Park to book an FA Cup fifth-round trip to Manchester United.

Jarrod Bowen opened the scoring after 10 minutes when he turned home a knockdown from Tomas Soucek.

The England man then turned provider at the start of the second period when his cross deflected into the path of Michail Antonio to score his 67th goal for the club.

It was the first time David Moyes' side had completed successive victories since October, following on from last weekend's crucial Premier League success against Everton.

And it now pits Moyes against his former club in cup combat at Old Trafford for the third successive season, the Hammers winning in the EFL tournament last term after losing in the last 16 of the FA Cup the year before.

The result marked the end of Derby's 14-match unbeaten run since they lost on penalties at Liverpool in November, although manager Paul Warne knows the main challenge for his side this season is to try and return to the Championship.

  4. 'We didn't embarrass ourselves'published at 22:24 Greenwich Mean Time 30 January 2023

FT: Derby County 0-2 West Ham United

More from Derby County manager Paul Warne...

On conceding early in the second half: "We spoke at half time and said there isn't much wrong, we just probably didn't win enough second balls or finish off our attacks.

"But they kept breaking on us and pretty much every player on the pitch was quicker than ours and that's a problem on the counter. To concede early in the second half is a punch in the solar plexus

"I had booked a hotel for Wembley and the FA Cup final but hopefully I can get a refund for that. Look, we wanted to go as far as we could and maybe we did.

"West Ham were better on the night and we didn't embarrass ourselves. Back to the league now and hopefully we'll be celebrating at the end of the season."

On the injury to Max Bird: "Unfortunately, I had to take Max Bird off. He's damaged his groin."

  5. 'I can't knock the lads for effort'published at 22:22 Greenwich Mean Time 30 January 2023

FT: Derby County 0-2 West Ham United

Derby County manager Paul Warne on ITV: "In fairness, West Ham came with a professional team and performance.

"At times we went toe-to-toe we just didn't create enough to score but I can't knock the lads for effort. I asked them to be the best version of themselves and they were.

"It was League One against Premier League and their frontline was worth £100million.

"We just didn't have enough craft in the final third.

"Good luck to West Ham... I know they've got an easy draw next."

FT: Derby County 0-2 West Ham United

    West Ham United

West Ham goalscorer Jarrod Bowen tells ITV: "It was nice to get two against Everton and then score again tonight.

"A goal gives any player big confidence. It's really good for me but for us it's two wins on the bounce and it's all about momentum that we can use as a springboard."

On Michail Antonio scoring: "Massive goal for Micky. We've been working on tap-in goals. It was at a crucial time to get a firmer hold of the game."

On facing United in the next round: "I only found out on the bench, I asked Dec [Declan Rice] and he said 'we've got United away'.

"It's never easy but if we want to be successful in this competition we have to beat top teams. It will be a tough game they are a top, top team but we've been there plenty of times before."

You can see why West Ham struggle in the PL. They move the ball so slowly that most the time they have to pass backwards. They seem frightened to play the ball forward, as if they get deducted wages for giving the ball away.

West Ham definitely improved in the second half.

I always thought this would be a difficult game but they came through it. If they lost then David Moyes would have been under serious pressure.

They can head to Newcastle at the weekend with confidence and starting to build momentum.

A tough trip to Old Trafford to come in the next round.
