    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport

Paris St-Germain are in advanced talks with Chelsea midfielder Hakim Ziyech and Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar.

It is understood both permanent transfers and loan deals with options to buy remain possible for the duo.

Despite excelling during Morocco’s run to the World Cup semi-final, Ziyech has not been able to hold down a regular place at Chelsea.

Skriniar’s contract is due to expire at the end of the season and PSG have followed up previous interest in the 27-year-old Slovakian.

It’s been a deal that has been bubbling over for the last 48 hours.

  4. What do Bournemouth need to do on deadline day?published at 09:33 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2023

BBC Sport your viewsImage source, BBC Sport

John: Sign Nicolo Zaniolo, doesn’t matter how much it costs.

Barney: I want Zaniolo, Alex Scott and Lucas Moura.

Zach: A creative right-back like Max Aarons, as it is evident creativity is lacking at Bournemouth.

Harrison: Number one priority has to be a creative central midfielder - we've really struggled for goals this season and especially since Solanke has been out injured. We also need a long-term right-back replacement for Adam Smith, who sadly doesn't have the pace for this level any more. Some more depth in midfield could be handy.

Brighton's stance is unchanged on midfielder Moises Caicedo. He is going nowhere today.

Arsenal returned with a second bid on Monday, worth around £70m, but that was rejected too.

Arsenal are advancing towards an agreement to sign Jorginho from Chelsea. The 31-year-old Italy midfielder is now the most likely deadline day recruit. There is acceptance at Arsenal that Brighton's stance on Moises Caicedo means the pursuit of the 21-year-old Ecuadorian is over.

  9. Leicester agree £15m deal for Souttarpublished at 09:18 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2023

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport

Leicester have agreed a £15m deal with Stoke for Australia defender Harry Souttar.

The Foxes have been monitoring Souttar’s situation for a number of weeks and although there has been plenty of interest in the 24-year-old, it was always likely he would move to the East Midlands.

Born in Aberdeen, Souttar started his career at Celtic before moving on to Dundee United and then joining Stoke in 2016.

He opted to play his international football for Australia, where his mum, Heather, was born.

He excelled at the World Cup in Qatar and is now about to make a move to the Premier League.

  10. 'Chelsea are making it up as they go along'published at 09:15 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2023

    Chris Sutton
Former Premier League striker on the Football Daily

It's just amazing, the spending. You cannot accuse Todd Boehly of not putting his money where his mouth is.

It seems from the outside that they are making it up as they go along.

It's like....'any good player about, we'll pay whatever, we'll bring him in.'

I saw Enzo Fernandez at the World Cup and he was really influential. They are buying potential because he is still a young man. He is miles off the finished article.

It's incredible Chelsea are going to pay that amount of money [120m euros]. But January is a crazy month.

    David Ornstein
Football correspondent, The Athletic on Football Daily

Chelsea had their initial approach for Enzo Fernandez pushed back. Benfica were adamant they would only let him go for a 120m euros release clause.

Chelsea's offer is up to 120m euros but it hasn't been agreed. That would suggest there are issues with how Chelsea want to pay it and how Benfica want to receive it.

We know that Fernandez wants to make the move. He has agreed personal terms with Chelsea and they will try to thrash it out during the coming hours.

  12. Huge day at Evertonpublished at 09:07 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2023

    Phil McNulty
    BBC Sport chief football writer

You have to imagine the phones will be taking a real bashing at Everton as they enter the final day of the transfer window with no new signings and a new manager in Sean Dyche - rather like they entered it last January after Frank Lampard succeeded Rafael Benitez.

Lots of links with Chelsea's Conor Gallagher, who will not be coming as he does not fancy a move to Goodison Park, Rennes forward Kamaldeen Sulemana and free agent Andre Ayew.

What is certain is they need something with Everton lying 19th in the Premier League with just 15 points from 20 games.

  16. What do Southampton need to do on deadline day?published at 08:54 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2023

BBC Sport your viewsImage source, BBC Sport

Maluno: Southampton are at the foot of the table because they lack a top-class striker. The departure of Danny Ings was the start of the slide and ultimately cost Ralph Hasenhuttl his job. Nathan Jones will, through no fault of his own, go the same way unless a quality, proven goalscorer is signed in this window.

Joe: Just a goalscorer. I don't even care who any more, just someone who at some point in their career has scored better than one in two in some league and knows where the back of the net is.

Nick: We desperately need a top-quality, proven out-and-out number nine otherwise sadly I think we will go down.

Ian: We need an experienced striker. Been saying it for two seasons as we've not replaced Danny Ings. If we don't get a decent striker we'll be relegated. Every fan knows it and has been crying out for it. Please can we buy a striker? Not one with "promise" this time, someone used to scoring goals. I know it's not easy, but we've had months to search.

Brian: Saints need a proven Premier League striker. They should seriously pursue Teemu Pukki.

  18. Flint to Celtic, Peplow movepublished at 08:48 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2023

    Emma Sanders
    BBC Sport reporter

I'm told Leicester City striker Natasha Flint's move to Celtic is expected to go through before the WSL deadline. Not expecting any more outgoings at Leicester after that unless there's late changes.

Also understand Reading midfielder Chloe Peplow's season-long loan with Crystal Palace has been mutually terminated.

Other options are currently being explored but she is not expected to return to Reading.

  19. 'Many City fans consider Cancelo best full-back'published at 08:45 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2023

    Chris Sutton
Former Premier League striker on the Football Daily

It just seems to me from the outside that this is Pep Guardiola flexing his muscles. It looks like there has been some sort of fall out.

At this moment in time Manchester City fans will be thinking 'blimey, we've got a lot to do in the Premier League because Arsenal are absolutely flying'.

Many City fans would consider Cancelo still as their best full-back so this is a real surprise.

Listen to the Football Daily podcast on BBC Sounds.

  20. Postpublished at 08:42 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2023

Does the exit of Joao Cancelo leave Manchester City a bit short?

Pep Guardiola notoriously likes working with small squads, but the Blues will have just 19 outfield players left in their first-team squad.

That includes 18-year-old Rico Lewis, who has become a regular feature post World Cup. It also includes Cole Palmer, 20, and Sergio Gomez, 22, who have only played a combined 216 minutes in the Premier League this season.

With Guardiola's side still competing in the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup, do they need a replacement?
