Rangers continue to boss the ball as Thistle continue to stand firm, with Connor McAvoy making a number of telling interceptions and tackles.

Thistle load the Rangers penalty area as Aaron Muirhead launches a long throw-in. The home side clear without any fuss but can't get a meaningful counter-attack going.

Malik Tillman marauds down the left and makes his way into the penalty box, but he can't find a team-mate with his cut-back.

Big cheers from the boisterous away support after a nice passing sequence near halfway.

Rangers soon have the ball back though.

You just have to look at Rangers' set-up from a Thistle throw-in. They've almost put the pitch into a quarter. They're suffocating Partick Thistle players and leaving three quarters of the pitch wide open because they get bodies around the box and they can hopefully win it back.

Ianis Hagi makes a dart forward from midfielder but Connor McAvoy does well to intercept the cross from James Tavernier.

No obvious width in the Rangers trio behind striker Antonio Colak, so the full-backs are likely to be prominent.

Partick Thistle fans have travelled in their droves more for a party than in expectation of anything realistic in terms of winning here.

They’re making some noise, creating a good atmosphere. They will dream of getting something early and have started reasonably well, moving up the pitch rather than sitting in.

A shock feels so unlikely but that’s football, you just never know for sure.

Thistle full-back Harry Milne is hauled to the floor by Malik Tillman very close to the edge of the penalty box. He lands inside, but the offence is just outside. The officials didn't spot anything and VAR won't intervene to give a foul.
