    Manchester United

Statement from Manchester United LGBTQ+ fan group Rainbow Devils on potential bidders for the club:

"Rainbow Devils believe any bidder which seeks to buy Manchester United must commit to making football a sport for everyone, including LGBTQ+ supporters, players and staff. We therefore have deep concern over some of the bids that are being made. We are watching the current process closely with this in mind."

The deadline for bids for the club is at 22:00 GMT on Friday.

  4. Dial Square FC - a modern football storypublished at 15:45 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2023

Marc Brewer - an Arsenal fan - watches Dial Square FCImage source, Daniel Gallan

On the surface, the formation of Dial Square FC is a story about Arsenal fans, disaffected by the ownership of American billionaire Stan Kroenke, setting up a club of their own - in the ilk of AFC Wimbledon and FC United of Manchester.

But Stuart Morgan, one of the club founders, contends that his motivation is not specific to the Gunners. He believes his feelings are shared by supporters of every club in the modern football world.

"Something has happened in the modern elite game that just doesn't sit right with a lot of fans," Morgan says. "There's this feeling in your gut, it's deep inside you, that you know isn't right.

"It's the money. It's the greed. It's the way fans are treated as customers. We're made to feel that the only reason we exist is to spend more money."

Read on here to find out more - including how a Premier League title challenge has drawn Stuart and his friends, reluctantly, back.

  5. Inside Martinez’s bid to be world’s best goalkeeperpublished at 15:41 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2023

When Emi Martinez joined Aston Villa from Arsenal in September 2020 he attached a laminated list of targets to his locker, and one of them was to become the best goalkeeper in the world.

At the time, that might have seemed like an admirably lofty but somewhat unlikely ambition for someone who had never even been the number one keeper at his club, let alone on the entire planet.

That same locker at Villa's Bodymoor Heath training ground is now bulging with winners' medals from the World Cup and Copa America and, after being awarded the Golden Glove trophy for being the best keeper in Qatar, he has just been named on a shortlist of three for the individual accolade he craves at the 2022 Fifa Best Awards.

Join BBC Sport's Chris Bevan as he delves into the world of Emi Martinez...

Roberto de Zerbi on team news: "Adam Lallana has a big injury and we will lose him for a long time. Danny Welbeck is also unable to play. Levi Colwill could be back next game."

"Adam's injury is to the same part of leg. I think he will miss months."

  9. 'We have to be ready'published at 15:21 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2023

Brighton v Fulham (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Roberto de Zerbi on Fulham: "Fulham are a good team with very good players and a good coach. We have to be ready to play a great game to continue our form."

  10. 'I know the levels of my players'published at 15:18 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2023

Brighton v Fulham (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Speaking ahead of the game with Fulham tomorrow, Brighton boss Roberto de Zerbi insists he isn't thinking about European qualification: "I don't want to look arrogant when talking about Europe. I just believe in my players.

"Every day I see them. I know the level of my players, I can analyse the games and we are playing fantastic football."

  11. 'We are allowed to dream'published at 15:14 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2023

Brentford v Crystal Palace (Sat, 15:00)

    Brentford

More from Brentford manager Thomas Frank on this season's ambitions, with the club eighth in the Premier League: "There’s no target. We are allowed to dream and we are pleased with where we are.

"We have an almost fully fit squad, players in form, and players full of confidence. We are in a top place, but we need to do everything we can to keep this up."

On facing a Crystal Palace team without injured Wilfried Zaha: "There are always key players in every team. Zaha is a top player for them but when other players come in, the dynamics change slightly and others step up. When I look at their individual quality, with Olise and Eze, I think it is huge."

  12. VAR controversy 'overshadowed performance' at Arsenalpublished at 15:09 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2023

Brentford v Crystal Palace (Sat, 15:00)

    Brentford

Brentford manager Thomas Frank, speaking ahead of Saturday's Premier League match at home to Crystal Palace, on the VAR controversy surrounding their equaliser in the 1-1 draw at Arsenal: "It has massively overshadowed our performance. We were more than good enough for a point and if there could have been a winner, it should have been us.

"Nobody is talking about the Bryan Mbeumo situation where he scores, which was also a human error."

On the club's run of 10 games without a defeat in the Premier League: "Our overall performance is good; you can see that in the players' faces. We talk about the good place we are in and we need to continue. Our 10 game unbeaten run is well deserved but now it is about doing it one more time against a very good Crystal Palace."

Man Utd v Leicester (Sun, 14:00 GMT)

    Leicester City

Brendan Rodgers on Manchester United and Erik ten Hag; "I look at them and at the introduction of new players. With Casemiro they’ve got a world class player. Thankfully he’s suspended, but for the team he’s given a real consistent level.

“They’ve done really well, they’re up there competing. I think their record at home shows they’re a difficult team to play against.”

  14. 'Nothing has changed'published at 14:58 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2023

Man Utd v Leicester (Sun, 14:00 GMT)

    Leicester City

Brendan Rodgers on James Maddison's contract talks: “It’s a conversation we’ve been having with his representatives for a while, so nothing’s changed there. For me, it’s about making sure he's playing at the best level he can, and thankfully he’s doing just that.

"I speak openly with the players, especially the situation we’re in with a whole host of players out of contract [soon]. That connection between player and manager is very important so it’s an ongoing conversation.

"I won’t be begging for a player to stay. This is a great club, great facilities and they have to understand that. But it's a short career, so I understand what they think."

On injury doubts Youri Tielemans and Boubakary Soumare, who have both trained this week: "Both are good. Bouba’s trained all week. Youri is back in training too, so both are available for the game. Everyone’s clearing up now. The squad’s looking strong."

On James Maddison and Jonny Evans: "James is fine. He's trained well. [Evans is] still a bit of time away. We were hoping he’d be back but he’s still struggling a wee bit with his thigh."

  19. 'Who knows the assistant?'published at 14:39 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2023

Tottenham v West Ham (Sun, 176:30)

    Tottenham Hotspur

More from Tottenham assistant manager Cristian Stellini on complications following manager Antonio Conte's rushed return from gallbladder surgery: "It's more important than football and this is the reason why the club, Antonio and the doctors made this decision.

"We don't know the time. The doctor has an idea but really it's a feeling from Antonio. That surgery was not easy, it was an emergency surgery and maybe he underestimated this.

"Antonio not 100% is not Antonio, and this creates stress."

On working as a team without Conte: "It's strange for me. Not many people know the assistant. Who knows the assistant? This is a strange thing for me.

"I repeat that I'm not alone though, there are many people who work with me. Ryan Mason was important every time and will be this weekend. He is important for me and all the staff, [Constantino] Coratti, [Stefano] Bruno and [Marco] Savorani for the keepers.

"What we are learning now is that Antonio takes responsibility with great character. He asks the assistants but he takes the decisions. Now we have to take responsibility together. We're more like a team.

"When Antonio is here, he will take decisions, he takes the responsibility and sometimes doesn't explain why."

  20. 'We have a call (from Conte) every day'published at 14:36 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2023

Tottenham v West Ham (Sun, 176:30)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham assistant manager Cristian Stellini, speaking ahead of Sunday's Premier League match at home to West Ham, on Antonio Conte and his recovery from gallbladder surgery: "We have a call every day, many times in a day, probably three times, and every time he wants to come back.

"He repeats every day, 'I want to come back, I'm sorry but how was training, tomorrow we have to organise this, we have to organise the team, what do you think?' but he wants to come back. That is every time in his sentence.

"Coming close to the game, the stress, the tension he lives normally before the game creates some problems.

"When they check with the doctor, with the club, they spoke a long time about this and this was the decision. He needs to take it easy again. He comes back soon but not like he hopes."
