Wout Weghorst is furious to have been penalised for what he felt was a clean tackle on Bruno Guimaraes. Then Diogo Dalot is booked for taking down Allan Saint-Maximin, who was in full flight.

Both sets of players were all over the ref.

It will be interesting to see if that slows down either side as they look to take quick throws.

Newcastle will be happy with this start. They are giving the Man Utd defence plenty to think about and combat.

Allan Saint-Maximin is released down the left and he cuts inside before playing a low ball that Fred darts in to prevent Bruno Guimaraes latching on to. The Man Utd midfielder takes a clattering from his fellow Brazilian in the process.

The Man Utd players are all over Loris Karius, trying to make life as difficult as they can for the corner. It is swung to the near post and headed away well by Joelinton.

Karius is going to have to be very strong here, mentally and physically.
