Fabian Schar gets a proper check, as is required for head injuries. He looks to be OK. A bit groggy but fine to carry on.

He tries pretty hard, and I mean no offence to him, but Wout Weghorst is not a player of Man United level. He's barely been worthy of mention in the past few games...

    Ben

I really want to be a big fan of McTominay, but he just doesn't offer enough; loses the ball too often, doesn't score, doesn't add assists, loads of effort for not much reward. Hurry back Eriksen!!!

    Newcastle 0-0 Man Utd

Kieran Trippier fires in the free-kick and it is met by Fabian Schar and headed wide. It almost hit him rather than he heading it by design.

He's going to need a bit of treatment.

Newcastle have a free-kick just outside the penalty area on the left. Diogo Dalot, struggling to contain Allan Saint-Maximin, has to foul his man.

Manchester United really need to get their act together here. They've been extremely fortunate to last until now without conceding, and I imagine it'll be more of the same in the second period. I hate to say it, but since the EFL Cup win, a lot of the sting has gone out of their performances. I can see ETH having a potential battle on his hands for the top four if he's not careful!

    Newcastle 0-0 Man Utd

Can Newcastle take a chance and control of this game? Will Man Utd come out swinging?

All I ask is that it is as fun as that first half.

    It is back under way.

I'm a massive Man Utd fan and think Fernandes is a brilliant player. But I'm also a grassroots referee and I'm fed up of the abuse we receive every weekend, not helped by people being set an appalling example by the likes of Bruno having petulant temper-tantrums whenever decisions don't go their way. Same with managers - Pep and Arteta constantly raging about decisions. In what other job can you act so unprofessionally and not get sacked or severely disciplined?

    FT: West Ham 1-0 Southampton

    West Ham United

More from West Ham boss David Moyes after his side beat Southampton 1-0:

"I'm really pleased about the result. We did what we had to do.

"We have played better than that and not won this season, but today was all about the result. We've had it before this season and the players have dealt with it.

"Look, I'm in a results business, I have to get results. There's no protection to stop me losing my job."

Seriously, when is the FA going to do something about all this “gamesmanship”? Ref makes a decision, then VAR backs it up and we still have players gesticulating like crazy. Straight yellow for anything like that.

I think I'm right in saying that Bruno Fernandes has been booked more times for dissent in his time in the Premier League than any other player. And even then, he's only booked about half the number of times he should be. Grow up man and act like a leader for once

    I've enjoyed it.

Newcastle came out the blocks quick and Manchester United looked dangerous on the counter-attack.

United carry that threat, you can see them nicking a goal on the break.

Newcastle play at one speed all the time and you can see that takes it out of them. They need to score goals and they don't score enough when they get the chances.

Willock should have at least hit the target.

Newcastle dominant. Is it going to be another one of those days? By far the better team but no end product. About to board a very delayed flight and going to miss the second half of the game - gutted!

This is March '96 all over again. We're battering them, but it just won't go in. Hopefully there won't be a Cantona stand in to complete the similarity.

For all the (justifiable) concerns about Mitrovic’s interactions with referees and its impact on grassroots football, Fernandes should be ashamed of his constant histrionics, which are also a terrible example for youngsters. It’s a pity that no referee has had the guts to book him for this behaviour and show it’s unacceptable- this game is yet another unfortunate display of this

Antony is picked out in space in the Newcastle box from a corner and goes for a spectacular volley. He slices it wide.
