Newcastle start brightly and then after 30 minutes start to back off that pace and allow Manchester United into the game.

Nice play from Newcastle!

They are patient to work the ball right to left to then set up a chest off from Bruno Guimaraes and a shot from Jacob Murphy from the edge of the box that flashes over the bar.

Some ironic cheers from the Newcastle fans as Sean Longstaff is bundled over by Luke Shaw for a free-kick. They think the ref has been giving a little too much to Man Utd.

The contest between Dan Burn and Antony continues. The former knocks the latter to the ground from behind for a free-kick. It leads to a little flare up that requires the ref to run over and sort out.

One to watch.

There was no pressure for Newcastle there, he should have done better.

It was a good save by De Gea but he should have scored that!

David de Gea comes to Manchester United's rescue by diving to block a point-blank header from Alexander Isak before then also stopping Joe Willock's follow up.

The second one perhaps has a bit of fortune to it, as he was on the floor and Willock hit it straight at him. But even so, top drawer keeping.

Good build up from Newcastle leads to a chipped cross from Jacob Murphy that drifts just over the rising Alexander Isak in the middle.

Antony is already getting the tricks out to try and ruin Dan Burn's afternoon. The Newcastle defender is forced to haul him down after a little flick.

The winger stays down, making out as though he is really hurt. He's not, as he demonstrates by quickly getting up and carrying on.

I know it's early on but you just want Newcastle to slow down.

The tempo is so high and it's very hard to keep that for a long amount of time.

Newcastle need to slow it down on the ball so they can have more accurate passes.

Newcastle aren't happy as Scott McTominay goes in on Bruno Fernandes to win the ball. No foul is given and it allows Antony to set up Wout Weghorst for a shot he fires into the sidenetting.

Newcastle are very alert to the chance to nick the ball off the visitors as they play out from the back. Erik ten Hag's lads at the back are going to have to be on the ball.
